SBA-15 mesoporous silicas modified with rhodium were studied as catalysts for the N2O decomposition reaction. Rhodium was deposited on SBA-15 by the Molecular Designed Dispersion (MDD) method using Rh(acac)3 as a precursor of active phase. The same method was used for the deposition of Cu, Fe, Al and Ti. A rapid, effective test mimicking actual frying was developed to assess the frying performance of oils and fats using small size samples. To a small volume of the oil to be tested, a formulated food consisting of gelatinized potato starch, glucose and silica gel (4:1:1 w/w) were added and content heated at 185 ± 5 °C with mixing for 2 h. Thermo-oxidative degradation of the oil was assessed by the measurement of the total amount of polar components and their composition, including degradation of tocopherols. The developed fast test accurately mimics actual frying done using an institutional fryer as assessed by the accumulation and composition of total polar components and the amount of residual tocopherols. The validity of the test was assessed using the following oils: regular canola, high oleic– low linolenic canola, and high oleic sunflower. Comparison of data between the fast frying test and institutional frying revealed a lack of significant differences. The developed frying test provides reliable quantitative and qualitative data describing the performance of the frying oil/fat. The rapid frying procedure allows assessment of the frying performance of oils at the early stages of development where usually only small amounts of the sample are available and when a large number of samples have to be tested assessing effects of oil additives. 相似文献

Voltamperometric studies on the indirect electrochemical α-methoxylation of Boc-Pro-Gly-OMe and Boc-Val-Gly-OMe in MeOH in the presence of NaCl or NaBr as the mediator suggested that the first reaction step was a direct N-halogenation of the dipeptide by active chlorine or bromine adsorbed on the electrode surface. The kind of mediator (NaCl or NaBr), its concentration, the current density, and the applied electric charge had a significant influence on the reaction course. In the case of Boc-Pro-Gly-OMe, the use of sodium bromide was necessary to obtain a relatively high ratio of α-monomethoxylation to α,α-dimethoxylation. For Boc-Val-Gly-OMe, the selectivity for α-monomethoxylation was close to 100%, independently of the mediator. Optimisation of the selected electrolysis parameters allowed us to significantly improve the yield and selectivity of the α-methoxylation of Boc-Pro-Gly-OMe (Kardassis et al. Tetrahedron 54:3471, 1998) and to obtain good results in the α-methoxylation of Boc-Val-Gly-OMe. 相似文献

A switchable metasurface composed of plasmonic split ring resonators and a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal blue phase is developed. Owing to field-induced birefringence (electro-optic Kerr effect), the state of polarization of the incident near infrared radiation changes, when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal. Thus, different resonant modes of the split ring resonators can be addressed and the transmission spectrum changes accordingly. In comparison with other liquid crystal phases, blue phases have several advantages. For example, they are optically isotropic in the field-off state, so that no alignment layer is required. The results of the present study indicate that the advantages of these mesophases can be utilized for switchable metasurfaces. 相似文献

Vapour pressure measurements are used to evaluate the enthalpy of vaporization of ethanol-gasoline mixtures. Partial molar values are also derived. The dispersed structure of ethanol-gasoline fuel is studied for the first time using the method of correlation spectroscopy of scattered light. A large range of dispersed particle sizes in different alcohol-gasoline systems is found. The dependence of the mean radius of drops on ethanol content is determined. It is found that coalescence phenomenon occurs in the systems when extra ethanol is added. 相似文献

Congruent crystallization of antimony sulphoiodide (SbSI) glass of stoichiometric composition, which is prepared successfully for the first time using rapid melt‐quenching, has been investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results for glass powder show a glass transition at 127°C and two separate exothermal peaks with maxima around 140°C and 190°C. The ratio of the intensities of the exothermal peak at ~190°C to the peak at ~140°C increases as the particle size and heating rate are increased, but their total enthalpy remains constant at 62 ± 2 J/g for all DSC runs. Surface heating of the glass induced by a 520 nm CW laser shows two contracted regions: needle‐like crystalline formations at low temperature and bulk crystallization at high temperature. The observed phenomena and DSC results suggest two different kinds of crystallization of the SbSI phase: one‐dimensional crystallization at low temperature which starts from the sample surface and three‐dimensional bulk crystallization that continues the transformation to crystalline state at higher temperatures. The origin of the two different crystallizations can be traced to the strong anisotropy of the SbSI crystal structure due to the weak van der Waals interaction between covalent‐ionic chains (Sb2S2I2)n. 相似文献

Urinary tract infections caused by uropathogenic E. coli are among the most prevalent infectious diseases. The mannose‐specific lectin FimH mediates the adhesion of the bacteria to the urothelium, thus enabling host cell invasion and recurrent infections. An attractive alternative to antibiotic treatment is the development of FimH antagonists that mimic the physiological ligand. A large variety of candidate drugs have been developed and characterized by means of in vitro studies and animal models. Here we present the X‐ray co‐crystal structures of FimH with members of four antagonist classes. In three of these cases no structural data had previously been available. We used NMR spectroscopy to characterize FimH–antagonist interactions further by chemical shift perturbation. The analysis allowed a clear determination of the conformation of the tyrosine gate motif that is crucial for the interaction with aglycone moieties and was not obvious from X‐ray structural data alone. Finally, ITC experiments provided insight into the thermodynamics of antagonist binding. In conjunction with the structural information from X‐ray and NMR experiments the results provide a mechanism for the often‐observed enthalpy–entropy compensation of FimH antagonists that plays a role in fine‐tuning of the interaction. 相似文献

The aim of the present study was to compare different rape varieties. For this purpose oil from six different varieties of rapeseeds was cold pressed under laboratory conditions. In the obtained rapeseed oils the fatty acids composition and minor components, characteristic values (acid value; AV and TOTOX), oxidative stability (DSC test), and volatiles were determined and a sensory evaluation was carried out. The highest oxidative stability was found for oil from sample 5 (IP = 158 min), which also has the lowest amount of C18:3 (7.8%), chlorophylls (0.083 mg/kg), and metals (Cu2+ 0.02 mg/kg and Fe2+ 0.08 mg/kg). This oil has also the lowest AV (0.17 mg KOH/g), which may be related to the lowest moisture content of the seeds prior to extraction. It was characterized by the highest rapeseed flavor intensity. The lowest induction period was observed for samples 3 and 6 (100 min). Although sample 3 had the same low level of metals as sample 5 and the highest concentration of tocopherols (635 mg/kg), PUFA (33.9%), and AV (1.37 mg KOH/g) it also had the lowest intensity of rapeseed flavor among the analyzed oils. Sample 6, despite its low percentage of PUFA (24.7%), conjugated diens and triens, and the lowest content of total volatiles (0.4Vs), had the highest concentration of metals (Cu2+ 0.04 mg/kg and Fe2+ 0.34 mg/kg). 相似文献
