A thin beam of waves usually diverges due to diffraction, which is a limitation of any device using such waves. However, a surface acoustic wave (SAW) on a sphere with an appropriate aperture does not diverge but is collimated, realizing ultra‐multiple roundtrips along an equator of the sphere. This effect is caused by the balance between diffraction and focusing on a spherical surface, and it enables realization of high‐performance ball SAW sensors. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary Two novel polymers containing p-nitroaniline group in the side chain and diacetylene groups in the main chain, were synthesized, and characterized. The polymers gave films of excellent optical quality by spin coating from DMF or chloroform. The one containing benzoate had a Tg of 103°C and its thermal cross-linking through the diacetylene group started at around 160°C. The one containing pentynoate had a Tg of 35°C and its cross-linking started at around 120°C. It was shown that thermosetting resins with functional groups could be obtained by using diacetylene-containing polymers. Although these two polymers have a same polar dye molecule, the second order nonlinear optical property was so different, showing that the main chains are very important for nonlinear optical property. The growth and electrical properties of Pb(Yb 1/2 Nb 1/2 )O 3 -PbTiO 3 (PYbN-PT) epitaxial films were investigated. PYbN-PT epitaxial films with SrRuO 3 bottom electrodes were grown by pulsed laser deposition. Optimization of the growth conditions for the PYbN-PT epitaxial films was carried out on (100) SrRuO 3 /(100) LaAlO 3 substrates using the (50/50) composition target. It was found that formation of pyrochlore phase could be caused not only by low growth temperatures or lead deficiency, but also by poor surface condition of the SrRuO 3 bottom electrodes. (001) PYbN-PT epitaxial films with good crystalline quality were obtained for a range of deposition rates (60-100 nm/min) and temperatures (620-680 °C) after vacuum annealing the SrRuO 3 bottom electrodes. The ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of 1 w m-thick PYbN-PT epitaxial films with (50/50) and (60/40) compositions and with (001) and (111) orientations were investigated using (100) LaAlO 3 , (100) SrTiO 3 , and (111) SrTiO 3 substrates with SrRuO 3 bottom electrodes. The highest remanent polarization (29 w C/cm 2 ) and effective piezoelectric coefficient e 31.f ( m 14 C/m 2 ) were observed in the (001) PYbN-PT (50/50) film. The transition temperature of the (001) PYbN-PT (50/50) film was about 380 °C. Because of the degradation of the target during the deposition, a 3 w m-thick film was prepared by three depositions (1 w m each layer). The 3 w m-thick film exhibited a higher e 31.f coefficient of m 19 C/m 2.  相似文献

β‐Methylglycidyl ethers have been applied to Electrical and Electronic adhesives. However, there is no report about the detailed polymerization behavior and physical properties of their cured products. Hence, we investigated cationic polymerization behavior of bisphenol A di(β‐methylglycidyl) ether (Me‐BADGE) and physical properties of the cured products containing Me‐BADGE. DSC analysis suggested that Me‐BADGE could be cured completely at lower temperature than bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE). Physical properties were analyzed by dynamic viscoelastic analysis. Glass transition temperature (Tg) of BADGE homopolymer was 194°C. In contrast, the copolymer of BADGE (50 wt %) with Me‐BADGE (50 wt %) showed Tg at 124°C. According to the data of E’ and tan δ, crosslink density of the cured products decreased with increasing the Me‐BADGE content. The analysis of cationic polymerization of monofunctional β‐methylglycidyl ether suggested that the cationic polymerization proceeded not only through oxonium cation but also through carbocation formed by ring‐opening reaction of oxonium cation. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthetic l ‐lactide random copolymers can be employed as controlled release materials when prepared using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), since they are biodegradable via hydrolysis. To determine the effects of thermal properties on polymer performance following scCO2 processing, three types of poly(l ‐lactide) having different properties were assessed. The Tm of one poly(l ‐lactide) sample (H‐100) was found to be approximately 170 °C over the processing pressure range from 8 to 18 MPa, while a second sample (H‐440) also showed a constant value of approximately 152 °C. In contrast, the poly(l ‐lactide) REVODE exhibited a Tm of 146 °C prior to processing but a higher value of 147 °C following treatment at 8 MPa. Unlike the H‐100 and H‐440, the Tm value of the REVODE tended to decrease with increasing pressure. The Tg values increased greatly under mild conditions of 8 MPa pressure and a temperature of 40 °C. In particular, the Tg values for the H‐440 and REVODE increased by 4 °C and 5 °C, respectively. All Tg values were lowest at 12 MPa and increased with increasing processing pressure, although the effect of processing temperature was minimal. The Χc DSC of the H‐100 was 18% initially but increased to 20% upon scCO2 processing at 40 °C and 14 MPa, and showed further increases at higher processing temperatures. Although the relationship between processing temperature and Χc DSC values for the H‐440 showed the same trend as observed with the H‐100, a different trend was seen for the REVODE. The Χc XRD values obtained from the XRD analyses differed from the values generated by DSC analysis, and showed a maximum degree of crystallinity following processing at 80 °C both with and without scCO2 treatment. ATR FT‐IR analyses identified peaks due to semicrystalline regions in poly(l ‐lactide) samples treated with scCO2, even when applying low temperatures. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Detecting when the process has changed is a classical problem in sequential analysis and is an important practical issue in statistical process control. This article is concerned about the binomial cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart, which is extensively applied to industrial process control, health care, public health surveillance, and other fields. For the binomial CUSUM, a maximum likelihood estimator has been proposed to estimate the change point. In our article, following a decision theoretic approach, we develop a new estimator that aims to improve the existing methods. For interval estimation, we propose a parametric bootstrap procedure to construct the confidence set of the change point. We compare our proposed method with the maximum likelihood estimator and Page's last zero estimator in terms of mean squared error by simulations. We find that the proposed method gives more unbiased and robust results than the existing procedures under various parameter designs. We analyze jewelry manufacturing data for illustration.  相似文献

Surface structures of iron–phosphate glasses were examined using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Cr2O3, CoO, and Al2O3 were introduced to the glass by the replacement of a part of Fe2O3, and the simulated fission products are also added. The obtained glasses showed high chemical durabilities by MCC‐1 test. In situ high‐temperature and room‐temperature XPS measurements were conducted on the polished sample surfaces and also those after 1‐week chemical durability test. Unique trends were observed in XPS spectra on heating and after the chemical durability test, respectively. Nature of the glass surface of iron–phosphate glasses was explained from the point of view of surface energy, and the origin of high chemical durability and the effect of chromium ions were discussed based on the changes on surface composition and valence states of transition‐metal ions.  相似文献

Nylon 6‐clay hybrid/neat nylon 6, sheath/core bicomponent nanocomposite fibers containing 4 wt % of clay in sheath section, were melt spun at different take‐up speeds. Their molecular orientation and crystalline structure were compared to those of neat nylon 6 fibers. Moreover, the morphology of the bicomponent fibers and dispersion of clay within the fibers were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. Birefringence measurements showed that the orientation development in sheath part was reasonably high while core part showed negligibly low birefringence. Results of differential scanning calorimetry showed that crystallinity of bicomponent fibers was lower than that of neat nylon 6 fibers. The peaks of γ‐crystalline form were observed in the wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction of bicomponent and neat nylon 6 fibers in the whole take‐up speed, while α‐crystalline form started to appear at high speeds in bicomponent fibers. TEM micrographs revealed that the clay platelets were individually and evenly dispersed in the nylon 6 matrix. The neat nylon 6 fibers had a smooth surface while striped pattern was observed on the surface of bicomponent fibers containing clay. This was speculated to be due to thermal shrinkage of the core part after solidification of the sheath part in the spin‐line. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. In the blend of natural and synthetic polymer‐based biomaterial of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), fabrication of CaCO3 was successfully accomplished using simple liquid diffusion technique. The present study emphasizes the biomimetic mineralization in PVP–CMC hydrogel, and furthermore, several properties of this regenerated and functionalized hydrogel membranes were investigated. The physical properties were studied and confirmed the presence of CaCO3 mineral in hydrogel by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, the absorptivity of water and mineral by PVP–CMC hydrogel was studied to determine its absorption capacity. Further, the viscoelastic properties (storage modulus, loss modulus, and complex viscosity) of mineralized and swelled samples (time: 5–150 min) were measured against angular frequency. It is interesting to know the increase of elastic nature of mineralized hydrogel filled with CaCO3 maintaining the correlation between elastic property and viscous one of pure hydrogel. All these properties of biomineralized hydrogel suggest its application in biomedical field, like bone treatment, bone tissue regeneration, dental plaque and tissue replacement, etc. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
