Transactional memory is being advanced as an alternative to traditional lock-based synchronization for concurrent programming. Transactional memory simplifies the programming model and maximizes concurrency. At the same time, transactions can suffer from interference that causes them to often abort, from heavy overheads for memory accesses, and from expressiveness limitations (e.g., for I/O operations). In this paper we propose an adaptive locking technique that dynamically observes whether a critical section would be best executed transactionally or while holding a mutex lock. The critical new elements of our approach include the adaptivity logic and cost–benefit analysis, a low-overhead implementation of statistics collection and adaptive locking in a full C compiler, and an exposition of the effects on the programming model. In experiments with both micro and macrobenchmarks we found adaptive locks to consistently match or outperform the better of the two component mechanisms (mutexes or transactions). Compared to either mechanism alone, adaptive locks often provide 3-to-10x speedups. Additionally, adaptive locks simplify the programming model by reducing the need for fine-grained locking: with adaptive locks, the programmer can specify coarse-grained locking annotations and often achieve fine-grained locking performance due to the transactional memory mechanisms.  相似文献

A novel iridium complex having the polymerizable functional group as one of the ligands, bis(2-phenylene pyridine) acrylate iridium lr(ppy)2Ac was synthesized as a phosphorescent dopant for electroluminescent (EL) devices. It has a photoluminescence spectrum peak at about 530 nm. EL devices were fabricated by doping lr(ppy)2Ac into host materials, such as BCP (2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) and poly(N-vinyl carbazole) (PVCz). Bright blue-green luminescence of about 12 000 cd/m2 was observed for an EL device having a structure of indium-tin oxide JTO)/1r(ppy)2Ac-doped TPD:PVCz/BCP/Alq3 [tris(8-hdroxyquinoline) aluniinuml/Mg:Ag. Furthermore, the iridium complex was copolymerized with N-vinyl carbazole (VCz) to form a random copolymer with a number average molecular weight of about 1000. An EL device using this hole-transport layer gave bright blue-green emission of more than 6000 cd/m2. These results indicate that lr(ppy)2Ae, especially its copolymer with VCz, can be a promising phosphorescent material for organic EL devices.  相似文献

Terpendole E is first natural product found to inhibit mitotic kinesin Eg5, but its inhibitory mechanism remains to be revealed. Here, we report the effects of terpendole E and 11ketopaspaline (a new natural terpendole E analogue) on the Eg5–microtubule interaction and in several Eg5 mutants. 11‐Ketopaspaline is a shunt product from terpendole E, and it shows potent inhibitory activity against the microtubule‐stimulated ATPase activity of Eg5. Unlike other Eg5 inhibitors, such as S‐trityl‐L ‐cysteine (STLC) and GSK‐1, both terpendole E and 11‐ketopaspaline only partially inhibited Eg5–microtubule interaction. Furthermore, terpendole E and 11‐ketopaspaline inhibited several Eg5 mutants that are resistant to STLC (Eg5D130A, Eg5L214A) or GSK‐1 (Eg5I299F, Eg5A356T), but with the same extent of inhibition against wild‐type Eg5. Because Eg5D130A and Eg5L214A show cross‐resistance to most known Eg5 inhibitors, which bind the L5 loop, these results suggest that terpendole E and its analogues have a different binding site and/or inhibitory mechanism to those for L5 loop‐binding type Eg5 inhibitors.  相似文献

Crystallographic orientation dependence of the Schottky properties of Au/Nb-doped SrTiO3 (STO:Nb) junctions has been investigated using single crystals of STO:Nb (1 0 0) and (1 1 1). It is found from electrical properties that the Schottky barrier height (SBH) of the Au/STO:Nb junctions estimated from current density (J)-voltage (V) characteristics shows crystallographic orientation dependence, while the flat band voltage estimated from capacitance (C)-voltage (V) characteristics is independent of the orientation. Displacement currents originated from the junction capacitance have been clearly observed at reverse bias voltage even in a condition of dV/dt 8.75 × 10–3 [V/s] because of large electrostatic permittivity of the STO, and the displacement currents also showed crystallographic orientation dependence. The different response in the electrical properties of the Schottky junctions suggests that electric properties of intrinsic low permittivity layers, which exist at Au/STO:Nb interfaces, have the crystallographic orientation dependence.  相似文献

Propolis is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from various plant sources. The composition of propolis depends on time, vegetation, and the area of collection. This study examined the antioxidant activity of propolis from various areas of China: Heilongjiang, Neimongol, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Hunan, Yunnan and Hainan. Ethanol extracts of propolis (EEP) were prepared and evaluated for their antioxidant activities by β-carotene bleaching, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical-scavenging, and 2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical cation decolorization assays. Furthermore, the major constituents in EEP were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis with a photodiode array (PDA) and mass spectrometric (MS) detection, and each component was quantitatively analyzed. All propolis samples except that from Yunnan had relatively strong antioxidant activity accompanied by high total polyphenol contents. Propolis with strong antioxidant activity contained large amounts of antioxidative compounds, such as caffeic acid, ferulic acid and caffeic acid phenethyl ester. On the other hand, propolis from Yunnan and Hainan had compounds not present in propolis from other areas.  相似文献

In this paper, a new controller reduction method is proposed to preserve the property using frequency weightings. It is necessary to consider decreasing degradation of property for controller reduction. It is well known that all controllers are represented by free parameters which are stable and bounded. In the paper, frequency weightings are given to stabilize the free parameters, and low‐order controller is provided by using frequency‐weighted balanced technique. A CMOS integrated circuit for a noninvasive biological-signal telemetry system specified for use in medical and physiological studies of the influence of weightlessness in space is presented. The system can monitor multichannel (4 channels maximum) biological signals from multiple subjects (4 subjects maximum) in real time by using time multiplexing. A key technique so-called synchronized multiple-subject telemetry, to achieve multiple-subject telemetry has been proposed. This technique utilizes bidirectional optical transmissions with direct and scattered infrared lights between an observer and each of the subjects. An experimental CMOS IC to give a small light-weight low-power, and smart telemetry instrument for use on animals has been developed. This IC is for evaluating circuit blocks of the implantable monolithic telemetry instrument. The major circuit blocks include CMOS digital circuits for synchronization, subject selection and time multiplexing, analog circuits for pulse interval modulation, and other blocks such as a CMOS optical pulse receiver and an LED driver. A preliminary experimental multichannel telemetry from two subjects has been performed with the implemented IC chips, and the principal operation of the multiple-subject optical biotelemetry has been demonstrated  相似文献

This paper concentrates on the experimental investigation of the self-reinforced all-polypropylene composites. There exists an optimum processing condition to produce high quality specimens by injection–compression molding. Tensile and 3-point bending properties of the virgin PP materials were nearly unaffected by the introduction of reinforcing knit layer(s) due to very low fibre content of the knitted fabrics used. 3-point bending properties were also unaffected by the surface of indentation-flexure. The applied impact energy was maintained at 5 J for the homo-PP and 27 J for the block-PP materials, respectively, to cause penetration during drop-weight impact tests. It is interestingly noteworthy that the self-reinforced homo-PP composites exhibited superior energy absorption capability when compared with the virgin matrix materials. The corresponding plate bending performances of the self-reinforced homo-PP composites also revealed consistent improvement as compared to their virgin counterparts. On the other hand, although virgin block-PP material exhibited better impact performances than its composite reinforced by the homo-PP knitted fabric, a notably small increase in the reinforcement fibre content revealed considerable improvement in the impact properties comparable to those of the virgin block-PP matrix materials. These self-reinforced homo-PP/block-PP materials have clearly indicated that they have the potential to out-perform the block-PP materials via modification and/or manipulation of the reinforcement knit structural/geometrical parameters and the content of reinforcement fibres. Both static and dynamic impact properties are likely to be affected by the local area properties of the tested face under indentation, and thereby contributing to the improved performances of the composite specimens with the knit face under the impact.  相似文献

This paper describes the impacts of mechanical stress on vertical power devices. The stress dependence of the DC characteristics of trench insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) was measured. The experimental results could be reproduced by the device simulation, which included stress dependence models of the carrier mobility and the band gap. We found that the stress dependence of the on-state voltage mainly arose from the MOSFET portion of the IGBT. Using the device simulation, we estimated the effects of mechanical stress on the surge voltage and the saturation current, which give us the important information for designing a power module with higher ruggedness.  相似文献

We have developed a method for quantifying the complexity of activation patterns observed during ventricular fibrillation (VF) that is based on our previously reported methodology for decomposing epicardial mapping data into a set of isolated wavefronts. One-half second datasets are acquired from a 21 x 24 array of unipolar electrodes (1 mm spacing), and the wavefronts are isolated. A correlation technique is used to compute the similarity between all possible pairs of the isolated wavefronts. From these data, the wavefronts are sorted into clusters, each of which represents a recurring wavefront morphology. We define multiplicity (M) as the number of clusters needed to account for 90% of the total activations in the VF episode. M measures the complexity of the rhythm. In repetitive patterns (e.g., sinus rhythm), M = 1, indicating that the same morphology repeatedly activates the mapped region. Typically, in VF, M > 1, with larger numbers representing more complex, disorganized patterns. As an example, we computed M at 5, 10, 15, and 20 sec after electrical induction of VF in six pigs. M decreased significantly (p < 0.001), suggesting increasing organization during this period.  相似文献
