Molecular dynamics simulations of multiwalled carbon nanotubes under hydrostatic pressure are performed to elucidate the novel class of radial buckling in the systems. It is revealed by all-atom simulations that the initial circular cross section transforms into a flower-like wavy configuration at critical pressure on the order of hundreds mega pascals or less. This kind of radial buckling, called radial corrugation, originates from the competition of the three relevant energies in the system: in-plane strain energy, van der Waals interaction energy between adjacent tubes, and out-of-plane bending energy. Their possible consequences for physical properties of carbon nanotubes are also discussed.  相似文献

A simplified fuel handling system design for the demonstration Japan sodium-cooled fast reactor (JSFR) has been proposed. Fast Reactor Cycle Technology Development project phase I results of key technology evaluations on a pantograph fuel handling machine (FHM), a fuel transfer pot with two core component positions, dry spent fuel cleaning and minor actinide-bearing fresh fuel shipping cask are summarized. A full-scale FHM mockup has been fabricated and tested in the air accumulating performance and seismic tolerance data. A mockup fuel transfer pot with fins and chromium carbide coating has been fabricated and tested with sodium accumulating heat transfer performance data. Several sodium cleaning tests using a dummy subassembly has been conducted accumulating cleaning performance data. For fresh fuel shipping cask, a design tool for evaluation of heat transfer capability has been developed and a helium gas cask shows cooling capability of minor actinide-bearing fresh fuel. Those experimental and analytical efforts have shown that key technologies to develop simplified fuel handling system are matured enough to proceed large-scale sodium experiments and conceptual design study for the demonstration JSFR.  相似文献

The alloying effects of Sn, Nb, Cr, and Mo on zirconium alloys were elucidated and compared. Electron backscatter diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, tensile test, and fractographic observation were jointly utilized to carry out detailed microstructural characterization and mechanical property evaluation. Results show that Mo is the most effective among these elements from the viewpoints of strengthening and reducing grain size. The strengthening mechanism for each element is also discussed. The order of solid-solution strengthening of these alloying elements is Cr > Nb > Sn, and the sequence is Cr ≈ Mo > Nb when precipitation strengthening is considered. Further, as far as the ability to impede dislocation motion is concerned, the sequence is Mo > Cr > Nb > Sn. The experimental results demonstrate that minor amount of Mo addition in zirconium alloys is greatly effective in strengthening the alloy and reducing the grain size.  相似文献

(Sr1-xPbx)TiO3 (SPT) ceramics have low loss tangents and high dielectric tunabilities under DC bias fields at room temperature, but they have the disadvantage of high dielectric constants. In order to exploit these materials for microwave applications, the reduction of dielectric permittivities is necessary. Thus, the composites of the SPT system by the addition of a non-ferroelectric oxide such as MgO were prepared and electrical properties were measured. Loss tangents of the composite sintered at the same temperature as SPT's sintering were less than 0.3% in paraelectric region just above the transition temperature and the dielectric tunabilities of ~20% at 20 kV/cm and ~35% at 40 kV/cm were observed at 10 kHz.  相似文献

Pareidolia is a psychological tendency of perceiving a face in non-face stimulus. As a majority of people globally experience this tendency, it has been extensively studied and measured in terms of tendencies, such as frequencies. However, no study has investigated the systematic manipulation of stimulus owing to the lack of a systematic image-generation method. Therefore, herein, we generated face pareidolia stimuli using a face data set with annotated data. We employed cycle-consistent adversarial networks (CycleGAN), an image-to-image-style translation framework, to generate stimuli for translating natural-image styles from face images. We manipulated the weight of the cycle-consistency loss in the CycleGAN via an experiment to evaluate the image generated using the CycleGAN. Thus, we found that the weight value of the evaluation experiment correlated with the pareidolia-inducing power when the preprocessing of the face data set was applied to the blur process. As a result, we achieved to systematically generate pareidolia stimuli. © 2024 The Authors. Protein affinity reagents (e.g., antibodies) are often used for basic research, diagnostics, separations, and disease therapy. Although a lot of “synthetic” protein affinity reagents have been developed as a cost-effective alternative to antibodies, their low biocompatibility is a considerable problem for clinical application. Lipid nanoparticles (LNP) represent a highly biocompatible drug delivery agent. However, little has been reported that LNP itself works as a protein affinity reagent in living animals. Here, LNP is engineered for binding to and neutralizing a target toxic peptide in living animals by multifunctionalization with amino acid derivatives. Multifunctionalized LNP (MF-LNP) is prepared using amino acid derivative-conjugated lipids. Optimized MF-LNP exhibits nanomolar affinity to the target toxic peptide and inhibits toxic peptide-dependent hemolysis and cytotoxicity. In addition, MF-LNP captures and neutralizes the toxic peptide after intravenous injection in the bloodstream; in addition, MF-LNP does not release the toxic peptide in the accumulated organ. These results reveal the potential of using LNP as a highly biocompatible protein affinity reagent such as an antidote.  相似文献

A general solution technique for non-axisymmetric thermoelectroelastic problems in cylindrical domains with D symmetry is constructed. The displacement and electric field are expressed in terms of the respective potential functions, and the thermoelectroelastic field quantities are expressed in terms of the elastic and piezoelastic potential functions, each of which essentially satisfies a Laplace equation with respect to the spatial coordinates, combined with the two thermoelastic displacement potential functions. As an application of the technique, the theoretical analysis of a solid cylinder subjected to combined mechanical and thermal loading is performed, and the necessity of the thermoelectroelastic analyses is demonstrated.  相似文献

Introduction : Topiroxostat, a recently developed xanthine oxidase inhibitor, is expected to have fewer adverse effects than allopurinol because it has different mechanism of action from alloprinol. However, its dosage, usage and safety have not been established in patients with impaired renal function or those undergoing dialysis at the development since no studies was conducted in these patients. Methods : Cross over clinical trial using 3 months of allopurinol and topiroxostat on 27 maintain Japanese HD patients were carried out. The effects on oxidative stress status of both drugs were also evaluated by measuring oxidation reduction potential. Findings : Twenty‐five of twenty‐seven patients completed study. The mean serum uric acid levels in the topiroxostat‐treated arm was significantly lower than it in the allopurinol‐treated arm time‐dependently (P < 0.0001). Corrected oxidative stress ratio defined as biological antioxidant potential/diacron reactive oxygen metabolites was significantly increased in topiroxostat‐arm (*P = 0.0035), but not in allopurinol‐arm (P = 0.1429). No significant difference was seen in diacron reactive oxygen metabolites, biological antioxidant potential, static oxidation‐reduction potential, and capacity oxidation‐reduction potential between pre and post treatment of both drugs. Discussion : It is suggested that a low dose of topiroxostat decreased serum uric acid sufficiently to maintain it below 7.0 mg/dL in patients receiving hemodialysis.  相似文献

This work reports the template‐free fabrication of mesoporous Al2O3 nanospheres with greatly enhanced textural characteristics through a newly developed post‐synthesis “water‐ethanol” treatment of aluminium glycerate nanospheres followed by high temperature calcination. The proposed “water‐ethanol” treatment is highly advantageous as the resulting mesoporous Al2O3 nanospheres exhibit 2–4 times higher surface area (up to 251 m2 g?1), narrower pore size distribution, and significantly lower crystallization temperature than those obtained without any post‐synthesis treatment. To demonstrate the generality of the proposed strategy, a nearly identical post‐synthesis “water treatment” method is successfully used to prepare mesoporous monometallic (e.g., manganese oxide (MnO2)) and bimetallic oxide (e.g., CuCo2O4 and MnCo2O4) nanospheres assembled of nanosheets or nanoplates with highly enhanced textural characteristics from the corresponding monometallic and bimetallic glycerate nanospheres, respectively. When evaluated as molybdenum (Mo) adsorbents for potential use in molybdenum‐99/technetium‐99m (99Mo/99mTc) generators, the treated mesoporous Al2O3 nanospheres display higher molybdenum adsorption performance than non‐treated Al2O3 nanospheres and commercial Al2O3, thereby suggesting the effectiveness of the proposed strategy for improving the functional performance of oxide materials. It is expected that the proposed method can be utilized to prepare other mesoporous metal oxides with enhanced textural characteristics and functional performance.  相似文献

Black lipid membrane suspending on a solid‐state nanopore (nano‐black lipid membranes; nano‐BLMs) is a functional application to detect single‐channel activities with a long lifetime. However, folding and painting techniques, which are traditionally used to form nano‐BLMs, only have a low success rate because of their complicated procedure. Herein, we report on the self‐spreading method on 50 nm pore size polycarbonate membrane filter to form nano‐BLMs by a simple procedure. Our results show that the nano‐BLMs have been successfully formed on the membrane filter. The spreading velocity of the nano‐BLMs exhibits a square root behavior, vt−1/2, which is in great agreement with the previous research. The experiments with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching show the recovery of a photobleached area in our nano‐BLMs. We also measure the elastic response of our nano‐BLMs by using an atomic force microscope, and our results demonstrate that the lipid bilayer is spanning on the pore of membrane filter. We also discuss the effect of temperature and the roughness of supporting surface on the spreading speed of lipid bilayer.  相似文献
