In order to evaluate the restrained shrinkage behavior of ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), ring-tests with three different wall thicknesses and two different diameters of inner steel ring were performed. Partially exposed free shrinkage and tensile tests were carried out simultaneously to assess the theoretical elastic stress, stress relaxation, degree of restraint and potential for cracking in the concrete. Test results indicated that the UHPFRC ring specimen with a thicker steel ring demonstrated a faster theoretical cracking time, higher stress relaxation and degree of restraint than that of a thinner steel ring, whereas those factors were rarely affected by the diameter of the inner steel ring. About 39–65 % of the theoretical elastic stress was relaxed by the sustained interface pressure. Since the actual residual tensile stress of all specimens was less than the tensile strength, the computed cracking potential varied from 0.43 to 0.7, and thus no shrinkage crack was observed. The carbon steels dispersed with ultrafine TiC particles were fabricated by conventional casting method. The casting process is more economical than other available routes for metal matrix composite production, and the large sized components to be fabricated in short processing time. However, it is extremely difficult to obtain uniform dispersion of ultrafine ceramic particles in liquid metals due to the poor wettability and the specific gravity difference between the ceramic particle and metal matrix. In order to solve these problems, the mechanical milling (MM) and surface-active processes were introduced. As a result, Cu coated ultrafine TiC powders made by MM process using high energy ball milling machine were mixed with Sn powders as a surfactant to get better wettability by lowering the surface tension of carbon steel melt. The microstructural investigations by OM show that ultrafine TiC particles are distributed uniformly in carbon steel matrix. The grain sizes of the cast matrix with ultrafine TiC particles are much smaller than those without ultrafine TiC particles. This is probably due to the fact that TiC particles act as nucleation sites during solidification. The wear resistance of cast carbon steel composites added with MMed TiC/Cu-Sn powders is improved due to grain size refinement. 相似文献

In stereoscopy, stereoscopic depth distortion is a serious problem in terms of determining the correct depth sense. There have been few studies pertaining to the problem in terms of the focused object distance (FOD). In this investigation, we discuss the FOD as one of the factors inducing an incorrect depth sense in using common stereo camera systems and propose a method for compensating the incorrect depth sense, which is strongly related to the process of demagnifying the size of displayed stereo image on the screen. The incorrect depth sense increases when the FOD becomes shortened. Our method illustrates that the depth sense difference between a correct depth sense and an induced depth error is compensated completely. Improved economy and speed of construction can be achieved through the use of prefabricated structural members. As a step toward the advancement of prefabricated substructures, a precast composite column for seismic regions is proposed in this paper. Concrete-encased composite columns with core structural steel can be utilized for a fast construction method using steel connections. Six concrete-encased composite specimens with low steel ratio were fabricated. Quasi-static tests were conducted to investigate the cyclic response of the prefabricated composite columns. For composite columns with bolt connections, the cyclic behavior in terms of ultimate load and post-cracking behavior was enhanced significantly as the transverse reinforcement ratio increases. Higher prestressing gave greater flexural strength to the composite columns with prestressing and better energy absorption capacity, while displacement ductility of the prestressed composite column was decreased as the prestressing increased. 相似文献

Set fish ball is an extruded surimi‐based product that is popular in Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries. Oversetting of set fish ball occurs at chilled temperature during storage. Shelf‐life extension of set fish ball by reducing oversetting conditions and microbial counts were examined. Encapsulated citric acid (CT) and glucono‐delta‐lactone (GDL) were used to reduce oversetting. Acetic acid, GDL and chitosan were used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Shelf life was measured for a period of 21 days at 4C. At day 21, a reduction of 46, 56 and 26% in breaking force compared with the control (without additives) was observed for 0.5% GDL, 1.0% GDL and CT, respectively. GDL at 1.0% was shown to be the most effective in controlling the oversetting of set gel. Chitosan (1%) dissolved in acetic acid maintained both aerobic plate and yeast counts at <1 log cfu/g throughout 21 days of storage. 相似文献
