A gas chromatography–mass spectrometry method was optimized for quantification of 4-methylimidazole [4-MEI] in balsamic vinegars and processed sauces. The method used ion-pair extraction with bis-2-ethylhexylphosphate and derivatization with isobutylchloroformate, followed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS) quantification using 2-ethylimidazole as internal standard. Performance characteristics such as linearity, recovery, and repeatability were good in a broad range of concentrations, and the limit of detection was low enough (130 ug/kg) to detect the presence of small quantities of the compound. A total of 35 samples were analyzed, including balsamic vinegars and processed sauces containing caramel in the ingredients list (soy, Worcestershire, Tonkatsu, Marinara, and Oyster sauces). The presence of 4-MEI was consistent with the presence of ammonia caramel (E150 c and d) in the ingredients list, with average values of 2431 ug/kg for balsamic vinegars and 804 ug/kg for processed sauces. These 4-MEI amounts are almost tenfold higher than those described for caramels containing beverages, which support the necessity to take an effective control on these products. 相似文献

Background subtraction is usually one of the first steps carried out in motion detection using static video cameras. This paper presents a new fast model for background subtraction that processes only some pixels of each image. This model achieves a significant reduction in computation time that can be used for subsequent image analysis. Some regions of interest (ROI) are located where movement can start. If no movement is present in the image, only pixels of these ROIs are processed. Once a moving object is detected, a new ROI that follows it is created. Thus, motion detection and parameter updates are executed only in the relevant areas instead of in the whole image. The proposed model has three main advantages: the computational time can be reduced drastically, motion detection performance is improved, and it can be combined with most of the existing background subtraction techniques. The aim of this paper is to study the influence of curing time on the microstructure and mechanical strength development of alkali activated binders based on vitreous calcium aluminosilicate (VCAS). Mechanical strength of alkali activated mortars cured at 65 °C was assessed for different curing times (4–168 h) using 10 molal NaOH solution as alkaline activator. Compressive strength values around 77 MPa after three days of curing at 65 °C were obtained. 1·68 MPa/h compressive strength gain rate was observed in the first 12 h, decreasing to 0·95 MPa/h for the period of 12–72 h. The progress of geopolymeric reaction was monitored by means of TGA and, electrical conductivity and pH measurements in an aqueous suspension. Significant decrease in pH and electrical conductivity were observed in the 4–72 h period, demonstrating the geopolymerization process. The effect of heat treatment and the presence or absence of fish skin on the volatile composition of Senegalese sole muscle was studied. The volatile profile of Senegalese sole at different storage periods was also evaluated. All samples were analysed by HS-SPME–GC–IT/MS and subjected to sensory evaluation. As expected, cooking enhanced the production/liberation of volatile compounds. Fish with the skin present, after cooking, had higher levels of sulphur compounds, 2-nonanone, ethyl octanoate and lower contents of hexanol and heptanol than skinned fish; moreover, the samples with the skin had a better overall sensory acceptability. During storage, changes on the volatile composition of Senegalese sole samples were found. The major differences were obtained after 2 weeks of storage. Compounds such as hexanal, heptanal, octanal, decanal, (E)-2-hexenal, (E)-2-decen-1-al, (E,Z)-2,6-nonadienal, benzaldehyde, 4-ethyl-benzaldehyde, 1-penten-3-ol, heptanol and (E)-2-octen-1-ol decreased after 2 weeks of storage, and other compounds, such as 3-methyl-1-butanal, 2-methyl-1-butanal, 2-heptanone, dimethyl trisulphide, dimethyl tetrasulphide and 2-methyltetrahydrothiophen-3-one increased. Do the opportunities for learning and personal development lead to happiness? It depends on work-family conciliation. 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The study shows how the perceptions of opportunities for learning and personal development predict five dimensions of affective well-being (AWB: pleasure, comfort, placidity, enthusiasm, and vigor), and how this relationship is moderated by the perceptions of work-family conciliation. A sample comprising 404 individuals was collected. The findings show the following: (1) both the perceptions of opportunities for learning and personal development and perceptions of work-family conciliation predict AWB, the happier individuals being those who have high perceptions on both variables; (2) both variables interact in predicting AWB, in such a way that perceptions of high opportunities for learning and personal development may not lead to higher AWB if work-family conciliation is low. Post hoc analysis also suggests that the relationship between the perceptions of opportunities for learning and personal development and AWB tends to be nonlinear for individuals with perceptions of low work-family conciliation. This work presents the synthesis of polyacrylamide-gelatin (PAM-G) semi-interpenetrating hydrogels, as well as the study of
the swelling capacity of this material at different pH’s, and we report its Young modulus. The hydrogels were crosslinked
with N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide and synthesized at different acrylamide/gelatin weight relationship. It was observed that the swelling
capacity of the hydrogels increases when the gelatin concentration is increased; while the Young modulus (at the swelling
equilibrium) decreases lightly. Therefore, the gelatin has a small effect in the Young modulus, unlike its influence in the
swelling ability. The swelling experiments reveal that the PAM-G hydrogels increase its swelling capacity in alkaline mediums

Experimental results are presented for the solubility of CO2 in an aqueous solution of phenol and NaOH (molalties in water: phenol: 0.5; NaOH: 1.0) at (314, 354, and 395) K and pressures up to 10 MPa. The experimental work extends recent investigations on the influence of phenol as well as of (phenol + NaCl) on the solubility of CO2 in water. In contrast to those previous investigations, the strong electrolyte reacts with carbon dioxide and also with phenol. The experimental results are compared with predictions from a thermodynamic model. That model combines a model for the “chemical” solubility of CO2 in aqueous solutions of NaOH with a model for the “physical” solubility of CO2 in aqueous solutions of phenol. An extension is introduced to account for the chemical reaction between the weak acid phenol and the strong base sodium hydroxide.
