In the present communication we have presented a detailed theoretical analysis of the performance of the sub-micron device in the presence of the discontinuity at the Si–SiO2 interface. It is assumed that due to interface discontinuity a potential develops at the edges (Source/Drain) in addition to the built-in-potential. This potential, called Edge Potential, measures directly the extent of the interface roughness. The effect of this potential is more critical in the case of short channel device where drain and source are in close proximity. Our analysis shows that the discontinuity is dominant at the edges but not in the channel. Drive current as well as saturation transconductance decreases in the presence of edge potential. These results suggest that the performance of the device degrades due to the interface roughness. Effect of interface roughness near the edges can be reduced at high gate voltage but it will result more interface roughness scattering.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Techniques have been developed for casting both solid and hollow lung models from rat-lung specimens. To make a solid model, an air line at a positive pressure of 25 cm of water was connected to the trachea to air-dry lungs which had been removed surgically from the animal. Using the lost wax technique, a hollow cast of the airways and the nasopharynx was made. A mechanical breathing system, capable of simulating different breathing patterns, was developed.  相似文献

Although more rigorous treatments have been developed for the microstrip elements, the purpose of this transmission line model is to provide a numerically efficient substitute for them. The rectangular resonator is replaced by two equivalent radiating slots. In most practical cases the approximations are acceptable. It is obvious that the efficiency of the transmission model can be used to include mutual coupling in practical analysis. The calculated results are in good agreement with observed results.  相似文献

The present study describes design and development and use of an image processing system to characterize and visualize the configuration of fibers in yarn in extended mode. An especially dedicated instrument and software for data acquisition and analysis are the unique features of the system. It is capable of grabbing the images of extended yarn in two orthogonal planes. The software can acquire data from these two orthogonal planes. The three‐dimensional trajectory of whole length of different colored tracer fibers can be plotted and can be viewed at different angles. The image processing system along with multi‐colored tracer fiber technique has been used for quantitative analysis of changes in the internal structure of ring yarn on extension.  相似文献

An experimental study was conducted under continuous flow conditions to evaluate some of the factors influencing contaminant removal by electrocoagulation (EC). A bench-scale simulation of drinking water treatment was done by adding a filtration column after a rectangular EC reactor. Contaminant removal efficiency was determined for voltages ranging from 10 to 25 V and a comparative study was done with distilled water and tap water for two contaminants: nitrate and arsenic(V). Maximum removal efficiency was 84% for nitrate at 25 V and 75% for arsenic(V) at 20 V. No significant difference in contaminant removal was observed in tap water versus distilled water. Increase in initial As(V) concentration from 1 ppm to 2 ppm resulted in a 10% increase in removal efficiency. Turbidity in the EC reactor effluent was 52 NTU and had to be filtered to achieve acceptable levels of final turbidity (5 NTU) at steady-state. The flow regime in the continuous flow reactor was also evaluated in a tracer study to determine whether it is a plug flow reactor (PFR) or constantly stirred tank reactor (CSTR) and the results show that this reactor was close to an ideal CSTR, i.e., it was fairly well-mixed.  相似文献

Rainfall is one of the most significant parameters in a hydrological model. Several models have been developed to analyze and predict the rainfall forecast. In recent years, wavelet techniques have been widely applied to various water resources research because of their time-frequency representation. In this paper an attempt has been made to find an alternative method for rainfall prediction by combining the wavelet technique with Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The wavelet and ANN models have been applied to monthly rainfall data of Darjeeling rain gauge station. The calibration and validation performance of the models is evaluated with appropriate statistical methods. The results of monthly rainfall series modeling indicate that the performances of wavelet neural network models are more effective than the ANN models.  相似文献

Drawbacks of intermittent water supply system and inability to shift to continuous supply mode is the main challenge in developing countries. The suitability of the infrastructure laid over past two to three decades to meet the 24/7 demand of todays population is the issue for many water mangers. The present study addresses this issue using EPANET software for a pilot study area in Nagpur city, India. GIS maps, field survey data, remote sensing data and in-situ measurements of pressure and water quality are used in model simulation study. Total 96 artificial reservoirs are inserted into the network which replicate the end-user practices of excess water withdrawal. Reservoirs are assumed connected to damand nodes with equivalent diameter pipes for intermittent supply simulation. For continuous supply, demand multipliers are derived using Monte Carlo simulation. Bulk decay coefficient 0.17 day?1 for residual chlorine is used in water quality simulation. Simulation scenario of intermittency indicates existing network is not suitable to maintain desired headloss, and pressure in most of the pipes is very low (<1 m). Water age and water quality problems reveal that rehabilitation of distribution mains and critical pipes in the central part is primarily important before implementing 24/7 water supply scheme in the study area.  相似文献

The frequency dependent ac conduction mechanism in 4,4′,4″-tris(N-3-methylphenyl-N-phenylamine)triphenylamine (m-MTDATA) has been studied as a function of applied bias and temperature. The Cole–Cole plot shows a slightly depressed semicircle indicating Debye type relaxation. This result has been explained by an equivalent circuit of the device designed as a two parallel resistor and capacitance network in series with contact resistance. The ac conduction studies under dc bias for hole only devices shows an increase in device conductivity with the increase in bias. The variation of bulk resistance with applied bias indicates Space Charge Limited Conduction (SCLC) mechanism for hole conduction. The hole mobility of the material has also been evaluated from SCLC as 8.859 × 10?6 cm2/V s. The temperature dependent impedance studies show two activation energies indicating two different phase of the material with a phase transition at 235 K.  相似文献

A simple wet chemical method has been used to synthesize selenium nanoparticles by the reaction of ionic liquid with sodium selenosulphate, a selenium precursor, in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol stabilizer, in aqueous medium. The method is capable of producing spherical selenium nanoparticles in the size range of 76-150 nm under ambient conditions. This is a first report on the production of nano-selenium assisted by an ionic liquid. The synthesized nanoparticles can be separated easily from the aqueous sol by a high-speed centrifuge machine, and can be re-dispersed in an aqueous medium. The synthesized selenium nanoparticles have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and transmission electron microscopy techniques.  相似文献

Respiratory illnesses have been linked to children's exposures to water‐damaged homes. Therefore, understanding the microbiome in water‐damaged homes is critical to preventing these illnesses. Few studies have quantified bacterial contamination, especially specific species, in water‐damaged homes. We collected air and dust samples in twenty‐one low‐mold homes and twenty‐one high‐mold homes. The concentrations of three bacteria/genera, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Streptomyces sp., and Mycobacterium sp., were measured in air and dust samples using quantitative PCR (QPCR). The concentrations of the bacteria measured in the air samples were not associated with any specific home characteristic based on multiple regression models. However, higher concentrations of S. maltophilia in the dust samples were associated with water damage, that is, with higher floor surface moisture and higher concentrations of moisture‐related mold species. The concentrations of Streptomyces and Mycobacterium sp. had similar patterns and may be partially determined by human and animal occupants and outdoor sources of these bacteria.  相似文献
