We succeeded in the fabrication of bonded laser crystals composed of a neodymium-doped YVO4 laser crystal (Nd:YVO4) and its host crystals YVO4 by a newly developed dry etching technique using an argon ion beam. The optical distortion caused by the bonded interface of size 5 mm × 6 mm was estimated to be 0.05λ at 633 nm. From the comparison of laser performance pumped by a laser diode, the bonded crystals could increase the laser output power by nearly twice that of the non-bonded crystals with the same degree of polarization of 99.2%. To analyze the mechanism of the enhanced reduction of the thermal load in the bonded crystals, numerical simulations with a finite-element method were also performed. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to determine whether left ventricular dysfunction following coronary artery spasm by 123I-BMIPP myocardial imaging. To reveal the clinical efficacy of 123I-BMIPP SPECT, 20 patients with vasospastic angina were studied using resting, 3-hour delayed image with 123I-BMIPP and exercise, 3-hour delayed image with 201Tl SPECT. 123I-BMIPP uptake was decreased compared to 201Tl (discordant) in 12 patients (60%) and in 49/100 myocardial segments (49%). The extent and severity score in resting image with 123I-BMIPP were significantly larger than that in delayed image with 201Tl (p < 0.01). In 123I-BMIPP SPECT, the severity score in the latest ischemia were significantly larger than that in others. The incidence of a complete agreement of decreased 123I-BMIPP uptake and coronary artery spasm was significantly higher (75%) than that in 201Tl (28%, p < 0.01). Furthermore, compared to 201Tl uptake, decreased 123I-BMIPP uptake much more corresponded to reduced wall motion in 9 of patients with mismatching. The severity of regional wall motion abnormality was significantly correlated with severity score of 123I-BMIPP. Late redistribution in delayed image with 123I-BMIPP was seen in 6 patients. The regional washout rate and the severity of regional wall motion abnormality in 6 patients was significantly lower than that in others (p < 0.05). Thus, metabolic abnormality assessed by 123I-BMIPP is well associated with left ventricular asynergy and spastic region in patients with vasospastic angina. In conclusion, 123I-BMIPP SPECT may sensitively delineate the impaired myocardium following coronary artery spasm, and it is very useful in diagnosing and estimating the severity of vasospastic angina. 相似文献

Adenovirus mediated transfer of growth-inhibiting molecules, such as p53 shows promise as an effective method of suppressing the growth of cancer cells. As the basis for in vivo studies, we examined transfection efficiency using 15 human lung cancer cell lines that differ in their endogenous p53 status. When infected with an adenovirus expressing bacterial beta-galactosidase, the different cell lines showed different levels of beta-galactosidase activity. We found a correlation between the level of integrin alpha v beta 5, which is thought to be an adherence receptor for adenoviruses, and the expression level of the transferred gene, suggesting that gene expression is largely dependent on the infection efficiency. Growth inhibition was induced in all cell lines tested following infection with an adenovirus containing p53, regardless of the genetic status of their endogenous p53 provided a sufficient amount of p53 protein was expressed. Our results (1) confirm that the examination of the susceptibility of target cancer cells to an adenovirus is important when considering performing adenovirus-mediated gene transfer and for evaluating its therapeutic effects; and (2) suggest that the quantification of integrin alpha v beta 5 may be a good way of predicting the susceptibility of cells to adenoviral vectors. 相似文献

A p-MOSFET structure with solid-phase diffused drain (SPDD) is proposed for future 0.1-μm and sub-0.1-μm devices. Highly doped ultrashallow p+ source and drain junctions have been obtained by solid-phase diffusion from a highly doped borosilicate glass (BSG) sidewall. The resulting shallow, high-concentration drain profile significantly improves short channel effects without increasing parasitic resistance. At the same time, an in situ highly-boron-doped LPCVD polysilicon gate is introduced to prevent the transconductance degradation which arises in ultrasmall p-MOSFETs with lower process temperature as a result of depletion formation in the p+-polysilicon gate. A new finishing process for metal molds by large-area electron beam (EB) irradiation is proposed in this study. In the large-area EB irradiation equipment used here, an EB with high-energy density is irradiated without focusing the beam, and so the EB with a maximum diameter of 60 mm can be used for melting or evaporating metal surface instantly. Experimental results show that the surface roughness decreases from 6 μmRz to less than 1 μmRz in just a few minutes under proper machining conditions. The corrosion resistance of metal mold surface also could be greatly improved by large-area EB irradiation. Furthermore, the surface roughness of tilting surface close to 90° could be well improved. Therefore, large-area EB irradiation method has a possibility to become a high-efficiency finishing process for metal molds. 相似文献

Anion exchange membranes with excellent durability were prepared by chemical modification of Nafion. The modification was achieved by transformation of the sulfonic acid group into quaternary ammonium group. Namely, Nafion membrane was first converted into an amide-type membrane. Reduction of the carbonxyl group to methylene followed by quaternarization with alkyl iodide resulted in the formation of an anion exchange membrane. The electric resistance of the resulting membranes depends on the equivalent weight of the starting membranes (4.4–6.0 Ω cm2 in 0.5N NaCl). The characteristics of the membranes are the excellent stability toward chemical substances such as organic solvents, oxidizing agents, acids, etc. For example, the membranes are stable in aqueous saturated chlorine solution at 60°C for 1000 hr. 相似文献

A response surface model of the luminous flame emissivity of sodium pool fire has been proposed for use in safety analysis computer codes of a liquid metal fast reactor. The liquid sodium burns in air resulting in not only heat generation but also release of sodium oxide aerosols of sub-micron diameters. Aerosols levitating in air are radiative and they influence the allocation of combustion heat from the flame to atmospheric gas or sodium pool. The emissivity of the flame needs to be quantified, as it is one of user-specified parameters of the computer codes for the sodium fire analysis. The response surface model of the flame emissivity is developed based on numerical experiments on the physics of mass and heat transfer and behavior of the aerosol. Thermal-hydraulic equations have been solved coupled with aerosol dynamics and chemical reaction. Three influential variables on the emissivity are identified as pool temperature, gas temperature and oxygen molar fraction in the air. It has been found that the emissivity is calculated reasonably as a function of the three variables. The proposed response surface model can be easily employed in the sodium fire analysis codes because it is a simple quadratic expression. For the safety evaluation of the sodium fire, combined use is recommended of the proposed model and the lumped-mass zone model code. 相似文献

The roller drawing of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) sheets were carried out in the roller temperature Tr range of 100–140°C. In addition to the roller drawing in the solid state (Tr = 100°C), we attempted to crystallize the molten UHMW-PE sheet under the roller-drawing process (Tr = 100–140°C). The tensile and dynamic viscoelastic properties, the molecular orientation, and the microstructure of the roller-drawn UHMW-PE sheets were investigated. The mechanical properties of UHMW-PE sheets were much improved by crystallization during the roller drawing process at Tr = 140°C. The sheets roller-drawn at Tr = 135 and 140°C exhibited c-axis orientation to the draw direction and (100) alignment in the sheet plane. However, at Tr = 100°C the elastic motion of the amorphous chains induces the twinnings of lattice, which enhances the transition to the (110) alignment in the sheet plane. The dynamic storage modulus below γ-dispersion temperature showed good correlation with crystallinity and orientation functions, while taut tie molecules and thick crystallites play an important role in the storage modulus above γ-dipersion temperature. 相似文献

A modified Monte Carlo (MC) simulation was performed to investigate the hydrogen absorption behavior in Pd and Pd–Ag alloys of the composition PdxAg1−x (x=0.7–0.8) under H2 pressure (0.1 MPa) at different temperatures. The present method employed can consider the dissociative adsorption of hydrogen molecule and the subsequent absorption of hydrogen atom by formalizing the relationship between the pressure of hydrogen molecule and hydrogen atom. The potential parameters were determined to reproduce the solution enthalpy of hydrogen in pure metals. The results are in good agreement with experimental findings as well as previous theoretical studies.
