Abstract.  A standard assumption while deriving the asymptotic distribution of the quasi maximum likelihood estimator in ARCH models is that all ARCH parameters must be strictly positive. This assumption is also crucial in deriving the limit distribution of appropriate linear estimators (LE). We propose a weighted linear estimator (WLE) of the ARCH parameters in the classical ARCH model and show that its limit distribution is multivariate normal even when some of the ARCH coefficients are zero. The asymptotic dispersion matrix involves unknown quantities. We consider appropriate bootstrapped version of this WLE and prove that it is asymptotically valid in the sense that the bootstrapped distribution (given the data) is a consistent estimate (in probability) of the distribution of the WLE. Although we do not show theoretically that the bootstrap outperforms the normal approximation, our simulations demonstrate that it yields better approximations than the limiting normal.  相似文献

Regression refers to the problem of approximating measured data that are assumed to be produced by an underlying, possibly noisy function. However, in real applications the assumption that the data represent samples from one function is sometimes wrong. For instance, in process control different strategies might be used to achieve the same goal. Any regression model, trying to fit such data as good as possible, must fail, since it can only find an intermediate compromise between the different strategies by which the data were produced. To tackle this problem, an approach is proposed here to detect ambiguities in regression problems by selecting a subset of data from the total data set using TSK models, which work in parallel by sharing the data with each other in every step. The proposed approach is verified with artificial data, and finally utilised to real data of grinding, a manufacturing process used to generate smooth surfaces on work pieces.  相似文献

Abstract

The equipment failures are highly uncertain in nature and simple average failure rate will not reflect this uncertainty. The uncertainty level further increases in reliability evaluation due to the integration of wind farm (WF) because of the intermittent nature of wind speed and random charging patterns of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs). In this work, the uncertain variables in the distribution system (failure rate, repair time, WF output, PEVs charging and system load factor) are represented as fuzzy numbers to handle the uncertainty. The available uncertain data are used to find the probability distribution function (PDF) of that parameter and is converted into fuzzy membership function using transformation techniques. Failure rate of equipment is converted into failure probability using Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) method. Sampling method is applied to create the PDF of a variable which has average value. Fuzzy severity index (FSI) is proposed to find the importance of an equipment on reliability and is evaluated by measuring the fuzzy distance between the fuzzy reliability indices. The proposed assessment method is validated on modified RBTS bus 2 by comparing with analytical and MCS methods. The proposed method has been tested with integration of WFs and PEVs.  相似文献

Three multimaterial support structures were designed and built to support 200 mm (8 in.) diameter “surrogate” mirrors for the deployable optical telescope (DOT) ground experiment at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL∕VS). A “spider-truss” structure was selected for its stiffness. Materials used included “Invar” alloy and AS4-epoxy composite rods manufactured by the “pultrusion” process, for their low thermal expansion coefficients, and aluminum for its machinability and low density. The composite rods were pultruded at AFRL∕VS, and their coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) were determined by a laser interferometry method. Finite-element method (FEM) analysis of the vibration modes of the structure was conducted to determine the optimum selection of materials. FEM analyses were also used to determine the mirror surface figure errors caused by ±5°C temperature fluctuation, as a function of the materials chosen. The paper discusses the rationale for the materials selection and design issues.  相似文献

In this investigation, the effects of blending with ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer and subsequent dynamic curing with sulfur on the macromolecular structure and properties of pure low‐density polyethylene and high‐density polyethylene were studied. The crosslinking efficiency of polyethylene‐based ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer blends upon dynamic curing was assessed with torque and gel content measurements. The curing of dispersed ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer in a polyethylene matrix improved both the mechanical and thermomechanical properties as a result of the formation of a crosslink structure in the rubber phase. In view of the electrical applications of this cured blend material, the volume resistivity was measured. The thermal stability of vulcanized polyethylene/ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer blends was found to be superior to that of unvulcanized blends. In scanning electron microscopy analysis, good interface bonding between the polyethylene matrix and dispersed ethylene–propylene–diene terpolymer was observed for the cured blends. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article deals with the extension of the usage of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) to the analysis of radiative heat transfer with and without conduction in a one-dimensional (1-D) planar participating medium. A novel lattice needed for the calculation of the volumetric radiation spanned over the 4π spherical space has been introduced. The LBM formulation is tested for three benchmark problems, namely, radiative equilibrium, nonradiative equilibrium, and a combined mode conduction–radiation problem in a planar geometry. In the combined mode problem, with radiative information known from the proposed lattice structure, the energy equation is also formulated and solved using the LBM. The D1Q2 lattice is used in the energy equation. For validation, in problems 1 and 2, the LBM results are compared with the finite-volume method (FVM), while in problem 3, the LBM-LBM results are compared with the LBM-FVM in which FVM is used for the computation of radiative information. Comparisons are made for the effects of the governing parameters such as the extinction coefficient, the scattering albedo, and so on, on heat flux and emissive power (temperature) distributions. LBM results are found to be in excellent agreement with the benchmark results.  相似文献

Nowadays the increasing interest to perform machining operations is in dry/near-dry environments. The reason includes health and safety of operator, cost, ease of chip recyclability, etc. However one important process, which is difficult to perform in dry, is drilling. Without coolant, drilling leads to excessive thermal distortion and poor tool life. In order to tackle these conflicting requirements, the essentiality of study on machining performances with minimum quantity lubricant (MQL) becomes important.Fuzzy logic rules, which are derived based on fuzzy set theory, are used to develop fuzzy rule based model (FRBM). The performance of FRBM depends on two different aspects: structures of fuzzy rules and the associated fuzzy sets (membership function distributions, MFDs). The aim of this study is to investigate the performances of FRBMs based on Mamdani and TSK-types of fuzzy logic rules with different shapes of MFDs for prediction and performance analysis of machining with MQL in drilling of aluminum alloy. A comparison of the model predictions with experimental results and those published in the literature shows that FRBM with TSK-type fuzzy rules describes excellent trade-off with experimental measurements.  相似文献

The radical scavenging activity, reducing power and phenolic composition of pomegranate rind powder extract (RP) were determined and antioxidant properties of RP was evaluated in cooked chicken patties compared with vitamin C (VC) during refrigerated storage. Freshly minced chicken meat were assigned to one of the following six treatments: control (meat without any antioxidant); RP 5, RP 10, RP 15 and RP 20 (5, 10, 15 and 20 mg equivalent RP phenolics 100 g?1 meat, respectively) and VC 50 (50 mg VC 100 g?1 meat). The RP exhibited significantly (P < 0.05) higher reducing power and 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity. Incorporation of RP into chicken patties significantly (P < 0.05) reduced the HunterLab L* values compared with control and VC patties. Total phenolic content (as tannic acid equivalent) significantly (P < 0.05) increased from 308 in control to 441 μg g?1 in RP 20 patties. Addition of RP to chicken patties did not affect any of the sensory attributes. The values of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances were significantly (P < 0.05) reduced from 1.530 in control patties to 0.135 mg malonaldehyde kg?1 samples in RP patties. Pomegranate rind powder extract treatment (RP 10, RP 15 and RP 20) substantially inhibited (P < 0.05) lipid oxidation in cooked chicken patties to a much greater extent than VC treatment. Therefore, pomegranate rind powder can be utilized as an excellent natural antioxidant source.  相似文献
