A new kinetic model has been proposed that describes the kinetics of the biosorptive processes. The proposed model is based on the concept of “available active sites.” The developed model has been investigated at different sorbent dose and temperature. Uptake of a cationic dye, Basic Violet 16 by a biosorbent prepared from the dead macrofungus, Fomitopsis carnea, has been considered to validate the model. This model has been used to determine the mass transfer coefficients under various sorption conditions. Sorbent concentration-time profiles generated by the model have been compared with the experimental data to validate the model. The model generated concentration profiles match the batch kinetic data closely.  相似文献

This work looks at the feasibility of a standalone hybrid power generation system for providing power to a rural community in the Pacific Islands. The optimization and sensitivity analysis of a proposed PV/Wind/Diesel hybrid System is performed together with economic analysis. We have used HOMER, a sizing and optimization tool for distributed power system, developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for our analysis. The sensitivity analysis was done using wind speed data and diesel price as variables. An Ice storage facility having a corrected mean daily load of 60 kWh/day was considered as the stand-alone load. The life cycle cost analysis was done for a number of scenarios with different renewable energy contribution to the total electricity produced.  相似文献

Thermal stresses and probability of failure of a functionally graded solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) are investigated using graded finite elements. Two types of anode-supported SOFCs with different cathode materials are considered: NiO-YSZ/YSZ/LSM and NiO-YSZ/YSZ/GDC-LSCF. Thermal stresses are significantly reduced in a functionally graded SOFC as compared with a conventional layered SOFC when they are subject to spatially uniform and non-uniform temperature loads. Stress discontinuities are observed across the interfaces between the electrodes and the electrolyte for the layered SOFC due to material discontinuity. The total probability of failure is also computed using the Weibull analysis. For the regions of graded electrodes, we considered the gradation of mechanical properties (such as Young’s modulus, the Poisson’s ratio, the thermal expansion coefficient) and Weibull parameters (such as the characteristic strength and the Weibull modulus). A functionally graded SOFC showed the least probability of failure based on the continuum mechanics approach used herein.  相似文献

Vehicular Pollution and environmental degradation are on the rise with increasing vehicles and to stop this strict regulation have been put on vehicular emissions. Also, the depleting fossil fuels are of great concern for energy security. This has motivated the researchers to invest considerable resources in finding cleaner burning, sustainable and renewable fuels. However renewable fuels independently are not sufficient to deal with the problem at hand due to supply constraints. Hence, advanced combustion technologies such as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), low-temperature combustion (LTC), and dual fuel engines are extensively researched upon. In this context, this work investigates dual fuel mode combustion using a constant speed diesel engine, operated using hydrogen and diesel. The engine is operated at 25, 50 and 75% loads and substitution of diesel energy with hydrogen energy is done as 0, 5, 10 and 20%. The effect of hydrogen energy share (HES) enhancement on engine performance and emissions is investigated. In the tested range, slightly detrimental effect of HES on brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) is observed. Comparision of NO and NO2 emissions is done to understand the non-thermal influence of H2 on the NOx emissions. Hence, HES is found beneficial in reducing harmful emissions at low and mid loads.  相似文献

Concentrated solar collectors have high efficiency. Therefore, when concentrating collectors are used for water heating application, the system yields higher efficiency. From a hot climate perspective, there is a huge potential available for low-cost solar water heating systems. With the system described in this paper, the needs of hot water in the domestic sector can be fulfilled instantly. Authors used the parabolic dish collector for instant water heating. This paper describes the effect of variation of mass flow rate on performance of the parabolic dish water heater prototype. Design of the solar parabolic dish collector consists of a novel truncated cone-shaped helical coiled receiver made up of copper at focal point. This prototype was evaluated for its performance during the month of April and May 2010.  相似文献

The synthesis and in vitro biological evaluation (JEG-3 cells) of a series of novel and potent aromatase inhibitors, prepared by microwave-enhanced Suzuki cross-coupling methodology, are reported. These compounds possess a biphenyl template incorporated with the haem-ligating triazolylmethyl moiety, either on its own or in combination with other substituent(s) at various positions on the phenyl rings. The most potent aromatase inhibitor reported herein has an IC(50) value of 0.12 nM, although seven of its congeners are also highly potent (IC(50)相似文献

4-(((4-Cyanophenyl)(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)amino)methyl)phenyl sulfamate (6 a) was the first dual aromatase-sulfatase inhibitor (DASI) reported. Several series of its derivatives with various linker systems between the steroid sulfatase (STS) and the aromatase inhibitory pharmacophores were synthesised and evaluated in JEG-3 cells. The X-ray crystal structures of the aromatase inhibitors, DASI precursors 42 d and 60, and DASI 43 h were determined. Nearly all derivatives show improved in vitro aromatase inhibition over 6 a but decreased STS inhibition. The best aromatase inhibitor is 42 e (IC(50)=0.26 nM) and the best DASI is 43 e (IC(50 aromatase)=0.45 nM, IC(50 STS)=1200 nM). SAR for aromatase inhibition shows that compounds containing an alkylene- and thioether-based linker system are more potent than those that are ether-, sulfone-, or sulfonamide-based, and that the length of the linker has a limited effect on aromatase inhibition beyond two methylene units. Compounds 43 d-f were studied in vivo (10 mg kg(-1), single, p.o.). The most potent DASI is 43 e, which inhibited PMSG-induced plasma estradiol levels by 92 % and liver STS activity by 98 % 3 h after dosing. These results further strengthen the concept of designing and developing DASIs for potential treatment of hormone-related cancers.  相似文献

HyperCoal is a clean coal with ash content <0.05 wt%. HyperCoal was prepared from a bituminous coal by solvent extraction method with an extraction yield of 66.7%. Effect of K2CO3 loading and temperature on steam gasification rate of HyperCoal and parent raw coal was investigated. Experiments were carried out at 775 and 700 °C for both HyperCoal and coal with 0-25% catalyst loading. Gasification rates increased with increased catalyst loading and reached a value above which rates did not change with catalyst loading. The catalyst loadings were 6% for HyperCoal and 20% for coal. The difference is most likely due to the difference in ash content of HyperCoal and coal and not due to the effect of H2 inhibition on the rate. In the presence of catalyst effect of temperature was only on gasification rate and total gas yield and gas composition were unaffected.  相似文献

The application of computationally inexpensive modeling methods for a predictive study of powder mixing is discussed. A multidimensional population balance model is formulated to track the evolution of the distribution of a mixture of particle populations with respect to position and time. Integrating knowledge derived from a discrete element model, this method can be used to predict residence time distribution, mean and relative standard deviation of the API concentration in a continuous mixer. Low‐order statistical models, including response surface methods, kriging, and high‐dimensional model representations are also presented. Their efficiency for design optimization and process design space identification with respect to operating and design variables is illustrated.
