Maleated polyethylene (MAPE)/Ground tire rubber (GTR) thermoplastic elastomer with 50 vol % GTR was reinforced by incorporation of talc powder and wood flour. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) reveals that maleated polyethylene (MAPE) has good compatibility with wood flour, but the adhesion with talc particles is weak. Tensile moduli of MAPE/GTR increase more significantly after inclusion of talc particles compared to wood flour. Prediction of the tensile modulus of hybrid MAPE/GTR/particle composites is successfully performed using a combination of Kerner and Halpin‐Tsai models. Elastic moduli are shown to depend strongly on both aspect ratio and level of particle dispersion in the matrix. Measurement of compression sets shows that elastic recovery of the compounds decreases after addition of solid particles. Samples having better particles/matrix compatibility show higher elastic recovery. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that inclusion of wood flour decreases thermal stability of compounds. Density and hardness of MAPE/GTR are also shown to increase after inclusion of particulate reinforcements. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2014 , 131, 40195.  相似文献

In this study, wear and friction behavior of two based-composites from the Ti-Si-C system, (40 wt% TiC; 28 wt% Ti5Si3; 17 wt% Ti3SiC2) and (18 wt% TiC; 26 wt% Ti5Si3; 41 wt% Ti3SiC2) reinforced by 15 wt% of large size SiC (100-150 µm) particles were investigated. The four-phase composites exhibited approximatively the same friction coefficient (µ ~ 0.9) under high loads (10 N and 7 N). The composite with high Ti3SiC2 showed higher wear rate values by one order of magnitude. However, under 1 N, the composite with high TiC content showed a higher running-in period and a lower steady state µ value (0.37 after 1000 m sliding distance). Scanning electron microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-Ray and Raman spectroscopy analysis of the worn surfaces of the two composites revealed that oxidation was the dominant wear mechanism. The oxidation process and the removal kinetics of the oxides during sliding controlled the tribological behavior of the composites. The influence of processing variables on microstructures development and wear mechanisms of the composites is discussed.  相似文献

A growing body of evidence suggests a pathogenic role for pro-inflammatory T helper 17 cells (Th17) in several autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, type I diabetes, and psoriasis—diseases for which no curative treatment is currently available. The nuclear retinoic acid receptor–related orphan receptors alpha and gamma (RORα/γ), in particular the truncated isoform RORγt that is specifically expressed in the thymus, play a critical role in the activation of a pro-inflammatory Th17 response, and RORγ inverse agonists have shown promise as negative regulators of Th17 for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Our study underscores the screening of a large combinatorial library of 1,5-disubstituted acylated 2-amino-4,5-dihydroimidazoles using a demonstrated synthetic and screening approach and the utility of the positional scanning libraries strategy for the rapid identification of a novel class of ROR inhibitors. We identified compound 1295-273 with the highest activity against RORγ (3.3 µM IC50) in this series, and almost a two-fold selectivity towards this receptor isoform, with 5.3 and 5.8 µM IC50 against RORα and RORβ cells, respectively.  相似文献

Highly purified allergens namely cow's milk alpha-lactalbumin (ALA). (Bos d 4), beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) (Bos d 5) and casein (Bos d 8) and goat's milk casein were prepared from the raw milk from a single animal with a known genetic background. Consequently the natural isoforms are limited, constant and characterized. Purification included selective precipitations and chromatographical steps. Characterization of structure and allergenic activity assessment of milk allergens were carried out using physicochemical and immunochemical methods. Taken together data demonstrated the absence of impurities and of contamination by other milk allergens in each preparation. NMR and circular dichroism analyses confirmed the native conformation and proper folding of ALA and BLG and the expected absence of folding of bovine and caprine casein. Enzyme immuno assays confirmed the native conformation of BLG and the purity and immunoreactivity of all the proteins. The allergenic activity, e. g. the IgE binding capacity, of purified proteins was identical as that of those proteins when present in milk. The purified proteins also demonstrated the ability to provoke the degranulation of humanized rat basophilic leukaemia cells. All the data thus confirm the purity, identity, structural conformation and functionality of the prepared milk allergens.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Growing interest in the replacement of synthetic food antioxidants by natural ones has fostered research on vegetable sources and screening of raw materials to identify new antioxidants. The food‐processing industry generates substantial quantities of phenolic‐rich by‐products that could be valuable natural sources of antioxidants. In this study the antioxidant properties and total phenolic, flavonoid and flavonol contents of three industrial by‐products, sugar beet pulp, sesame cake and potato peel, extracted with various solvents were examined. Since different antioxidant compounds have different mechanisms of action, several methods were used to assess the antioxidant efficacy of extracts. RESULTS: Among the six solvents tested, methanol gave the highest extract yield of potato peel and sugar beet pulp, while diethyl ether gave the highest extract yield of sesame cake. Methanol exhibited the highest extraction ability for phenolic compounds, with total phenolics amounting to 2.91, 1.79 and 0.81 mg gallic acid equivalent g?1 dry weight in potato peel, sugar beet pulp and sesame cake extracts respectively, and also showed the strongest antioxidant capacity in the three assays used. All three methods proved that potato peel extract had the highest antioxidant activity owing to its high content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. CONCLUSION: On the basis of the results obtained, potato peel, sugar beet pulp and sesame cake extracts could serve as natural antioxidants owing to their significant antioxidant activity. Oxidative stability of oils extracted from intact and dehulled sesame seeds was determined by monitoring changes in fatty acid composition, iodine value (IV), peroxide value (PV), conjugated diene (CD), para-anisidine value (p-AV), and 2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value and by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy after storage under Schaal oven conditions at 65°C for up to 35 d. The oils from coated seeds were more stable, as reflected in PV, CD, p-AV and TBA values, than those extracted from dehulled seeds after roasting at 200°C, steaming at 100°C, roasting at 200°C plus steaming, or microwaving at 2450 MHz, except for TBA values of oil from microwaved seeds. After 35 d of storage at 65°C, the CD, p-AV, and TBA values of extracted oil from dehulled microwaved seeds were 17.72, 10.20, and 1.22, respectively, while those of their coated counterparts were significantly (P<0.05) different at 14.20, 16.47, and 1.26, respectively. Few significant changes were evident in the fatty acid composition of oil obtained from either coated and dehulled seeds subjected to different treatments. Nuclear magnetic resonance analyses found that Rao (aliphatic to olefinic protons) and Rad (aliphatic to diallylmethylene protons) ratios increased steadily over the entire storage period, which indicated progressive oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids.  相似文献
