Progesterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) were measuured in the plasma of Large White turkey hens at frequent intervals during the ovulatory cycle and during the periods when ovulations did not occur. The hormones were quantitated at the beginning and the end of the reproductive season to follow the change in patterns and concentrations of these hormones. Radioimmunoassay procedures were used to assay both hormones. Both progesterone and LH reached a peak amount at about 8 to 2 hours before ovulation. At no time did the progesterone peak precede that of LH. On the other hand, the peak of progesterone was observed to last somewhat longer than the LH peak. Progesterone and LH concentrations demonstrated no peak during the non-ovulatory periods. The patterns of both hormones at the end of the reproductive season was about the same as at the beginning of the season, but with lower concentrations.  相似文献

Abstract  

Aberration corrected (Cs) scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) has been used for the first time to characterize MoS2 catalysts (supported on Al2O3 substrates) to provide detailed information of its shape and structure. The high-resolution imaging reveals unprecedented morphologies present in the MoS2 catalyst that have never been observed before with other experimental techniques because of the insufficient image contrast and/or resolution. High angle annular dark field (HAADF)-STEM images shows very clearly that the catalyst is formed by elongated chains with a twisted and helical structure. Based on the HAADF-STEM images, we built three atomic models to illustrate the different morphologies found in the MoS2 catalyst. The existence of these nanostructures opens the posibility for novel catalyticaly active edge morphologies in MoS2-based nanocatalysts.  相似文献

Hybrid materials were prepared incorporating silica networks by the sol–gel process into the poly(amide-b-polyether) block copolymer PEBAX®. PEBAX®/silica hybrids were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction. The pervaporation of phenol from dilute aqueous solutions through hybrid membranes was investigated. Films prepared with lower silica contents showed better dispersed inorganic networks and were more selective in the pervaporation of phenol/water solutions. This paper investigates the use of the QV and PV curves in the planning scenario, when some system reinforcements and contingency screening are analyzed. The idea is to employ the continuation method to obtain the system load margin and the QV curve to calculate the reactive power reserve associated with each bus. Combining these approaches enables one to identify the system critical area, the actual operating conditions, the most severe contingencies and the most important reinforcements. The methodology proposed may provide important signals to system planners, since the planning is focused under the voltage security point of view. The ideas are tested with the help of some academic systems and two real (a Brazilians and a Paraguayan) systems with all the system limits considered.  相似文献

The reliability evaluation of composite power systems has historically been assessed using deterministic and probabilistic criteria and methods. The well-being approach was recently proposed in order to combine deterministic criteria with probabilistic methods and evaluates the system by healthy, marginal and risky states. This paper presents an efficient method for composite system well-being evaluation based on non-sequential Monte Carlo simulation. It is assumed that the system is coherent, and the frequency and duration indices are calculated by the conditional probability method. The system adequacy is evaluated by a non-linear power flow solved by the Newton–Raphson method and by an optimal power flow solved by the Interior Points method. Results are presented for the IEEE-RTS system with a constant load and with a variable load curve. It is demonstrated that the proposed method, as well as the assumed hypothesis, are valid and provide an efficient alternative for the well-being analysis of large scale power systems.  相似文献

The addition of bioactive glasses to a Y:TZP matrix represents a feasible alternative to provide bioactivity to this material and optimize osseointegration. This work evaluated the effect of the BG concentration (0 and 10 wt%) and the sintering temperature (1200°C and 1300°C) on the microstructure, relative density, and flexural strength of the composite Y:TZP/BG. The Y:TZP and Y:TZP/BG powders were uniaxially pressed and sintered at 1200°C or 1300°C for 1 h. The microstructure was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy. Relative density was calculated from density values obtained using the Archimedes’ principle. For the flexural strength, specimens (n = 6) were fractured in a biaxial flexural setup using a piston-on-three-balls fixture in a universal testing machine. Bioactivity test was performed in simulated body fluid solution. The results suggested that BG addition decreased the grain size of the composite, increased porosity and caused a significant decrease in the relative density and flexural strength. Crystalline phases of calcium stabilized cubic zirconia and sodium zirconium silicate were formed after the addition of BG. Finally, it was concluded that composite specimens sintered at 1300°C showed the highest density values and larger grains compared to those sintered at 1200°C.  相似文献
