The in situ electrochemical deposition of nanostructured MoSx (x = 1.5–1.7) based thin films on various substrates from aqueous solutions is reported. The as-deposited amorphous films transform on annealing into crystalline ones as revealed by a stepwise high temperature X-ray diffraction (XRD). Both Raman spectroscopy and XRD crystal structure analyses confirmed the formation of inorganic fullerene-MoSx nanoparticles (IF-MoSx). The as-deposited thin films have a featureless surface morphology, but after annealing either a nanotube or a nanorod structure along with numerous smaller nanoballs appear at the surface. An investigation by transmission electron microscopy unearths the presence of nanoballs, nanoribbons, and nanotubes throughout the annealed MoSx thin films. The size of the nanoballs is in the range of 5–10 nm. The nanotubes have a diameter of 10–400 nm, and a length of up to several micrometers as evidenced by SEM. The catalytic effect of transition metals on the growth of nanotubes is noticed. The temperature-induced transformation from amorphous to crystalline structured MoSx films results in a large lowering of the coefficient of friction under sliding against corundum in ambient air of 50% relative humidity.  相似文献

For many technical applications friction and wear are critical issues. Reinforced polymer-matrix composites are widely used under vibrating contact condition in various automotive and aerospace applications as well as in structural engineering. In this paper, the friction and wear of bulk epoxy and unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite have been investigated under reciprocating sliding against either alumina or stainless steel balls in ambient air. The effect of sliding direction with respect to the long and unidirectional carbon fibers has been studied. We demonstrate that the carbon fiber reinforcement greatly improves the tribological properties of the thermoset epoxy: it reduces the coefficient of friction and the debris formation. It was found that on sliding in the anti-parallel direction a more significant degradation takes place than in the parallel direction. The coefficient of friction measured on bulk epoxy sliding against either stainless steel or alumina is around 0.65, whereas the coefficient of friction measured on epoxy reinforced with carbon fibers is significantly lower, namely down to 0.11. It was found that sliding with a stainless steel ball in a direction parallel to the fiber orientation results in a lower coefficient of friction than sliding in anti-parallel direction. The reduced coefficient of friction is largely influenced by the carbon fiber reinforcement due to the auto-protecting film formed as a paste in the contact area and along the wear track edges. The relationship between friction and degradation of the composite material including surface wear and debris formation are discussed based on an in-depth analysis of the worn surfaces by optical and scanning electron microscopy, micro-Raman spectroscopy, and white light interferometry.  相似文献

The role of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and FK506-binding protein rapamycin-associated protein (FRAP) in translational control has been examined by treating RD-rhabdomyosarcoma cells with wortmannin and rapamycin and studying the effects on cell-growth, translation initiation, and protein synthesis. Whereas wortmannin and rapamycin exhibit subtle effects on global translation, examination of individual mRNAs in sucrose gradients and of individual proteins in two-dimensional polyacrylamide gels reveals that wortmannin and rapamycin exhibit distinct effects on the translation of individual mRNAs. Wortmannin represses the synthesis of a third of cellular proteins, whereas rapamycin affects a subset of these proteins. Since ribosomal protein S6 was rapidly dephosphorylated following wortmannin and rapamycin treatment, and the phosphorylation status of the eukaryotic initiation factor 4E was unchanged, our data imply that the p70 signalling pathway has at least one branch-point upstream of FRAP leading to an additional route of translational control.  相似文献

Cu-Al2O3 deposits containing either α-Al2O3 or γ-Al2O3 particles were prepared in copper sulphate plating baths to which the addition agents thallium sulphate or aluminiun sulphate were added. The effect on the microhardness of thermomechanical processing (cold or hot rolling and subsequent annealing) was investigated. The codeposition of alumina particles produced deposits which had a higher hardness than copper deposits in the as-plated, the rolled and the annealed states. The fine γ-Al2O3 particles were more effective than α-Al2O3 particles in leading to a strengthening by cold or hot rolling and to a retention of high hardness up to an annealing temperature of 500°C. In order to obtain optimum properties a homogeneous dispersion of alumina particles has to be realized; this cannot be achieved by using aluminium sulphate as promoter for codeposition.  相似文献

In this work we describe the application of a new non-soluble and non-porous complex with copper ion based on ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE), methacrylic acid (MAA) and 2-methylimidazole (2MI) in the decolorization of an azo dye Methyl Orange (MO) as a model pollutant at room temperature.The complex with copper ion was studied by ESR and SEM and was tested as a heterogeneous catalyst for H2O2 activation. A possible mechanism of interaction involves the production of hydroxyl radicals (confirmed by ESR), dioxygen and water.The Cu(II)-polyampholyte/H2O2 system acted efficiently in the color removal of MO. The adsorption and oxidative degradation of the azo-based dye followed pseudo-first-order kinetic profiles, and the rate constant for degradation had a second-order dependence on copper ion content in the mixture.A removal of MO higher than 90% was achieved in 20 min at pH 7.0, combining 0.8 mM of complexed copper ions in the mixture with 24 mM hydrogen peroxide.The dye adsorbed on the polyampholyte following a L4-type isotherm with 4.9 μmol g−1 maximum loading capacity and 3.1 μM dissociation constant for the first monolayer.  相似文献

This article reports on the development of thin films of p- and n-type bismuth telluride compounds which are suitable for microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) thermoelectric energy harvesters. Films were prepared by the pulsed laser deposition technique. It is shown that the thin films of binary Bi-Te alloys outperformed considerably their ternary counterparts. Furthermore, the highest thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) was found to be 0.39 for the p-type Bi32Te68 alloy, whereas the optimal n-type alloy was Bi25Te75, which was characterized by a relatively low stress gradient.  相似文献

Hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) coatings deposited onto steel substrates by plasma assisted CVD, using different precursor gases (1 < H/C ratio < 4) were tested for their tribological behaviour. The H content in these coatings ranged from 25 to 29 at.%. Fretting mode I tests were performed on different couples consisting of coated and/or uncoated first bodies. Some tests were performed after a heat treatment of the coatings. As-deposited a-C:H/corundum couples tested at 23 °C and 50% RH showed lowering of the coefficient of friction at increasing normal load. Graphitisation is taking place in sliding contacts at high normal loads. For a-C:H/corundum couples a clear minimum in the coefficient of friction was noticed at 100 °C for coatings containing 27 at.% H. The coefficient of friction recorded on such couples is high compared to the one recorded on as-deposited a-C:H/a-C:H couples. However for the a-C:H/a-C:H couple, a lowering of the coefficient of friction with increasing fretting test temperature was noticed. The decreasing coefficient of friction was accompanied by an increasing wear. Graphitisation is causing severe degradation of a-C:H coatings at high test temperatures. An energetic analysis of the wear is finally reported. It appeared that the wear volume recorded at RT on as-deposited a-C:H coatings varies linearly with the cumulative dissipated energy. The wear rate coefficient decreases with increasing H-content. A stabilization of the sp3 bonds with increasing H-content might explain this behaviour. Confirmation was found by performing high temperature fretting tests. Interesting is the finding that fretting tests at RT performed after a thermal treatment of a-C:H coatings at either 100 or 150 °C, show a friction and wear behaviour identical to the ones recorded on as-deposited coatings tested at RT.  相似文献

Treatments to inhibit browning, decay and to extend shelf life of ‘Keitt’, ‘Kent’ and ‘Ataulfo’ mango cultivars as a fresh‐cut produce were investigated. Combinations of calcium chloride (CaCl2), antioxidants [ascorbic acid (AA), citric acid (CA)] and two commercial film coatings resulted in a reduction of browning and deterioration of fresh‐cut mangoes stored at 5 °C, especially for the Ataulfo cultivar. The use of CaCl2 + AA + CA significantly reduced colour deterioration, loss of firmness and did not affect sensory characteristics of fresh‐cut mango, with a larger effect in the Ataulfo cultivar. In general, these treatments prevented loss of sugar and vitamin C of cubes during storage at 5 °C. Shelf life of this cultivar was 21 days, while that of Keitt and Kent was only 9 and 12 days, respectively. There is a correlation between carotene and vitamin C content of Ataulfo mango and its longer shelf life compared with the other cultivars.  相似文献

The human carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and HER-2/neu are potential target antigens for CTL specific immunotherapy for common malignancies such as breast, lung, colon, and gastric carcinomas. Several CTL epitopes restricted by HLA-A2, the most common human histocompatibility molecule, have been previously reported. However, to develop CTL-based immunotherapies for the general population, it is necessary to identify epitopes restricted by other common histocompatibility alleles. Here, we describe two HLA-A3-restricted CTL epitopes from the CEA and HER-2/neu antigens. HLA-A3 binding synthetic peptides from CEA and HER-2/neu were tested for immunogenicity by in vitro primary CTL induction protocol using peripheral blood mononuclear cells from normal healthy volunteers. One peptide from CEA (CEA[9(61)]: HLFGYSWYK) and one peptide from HER-2/neu (HER2[9(754)]: VLRENTSPK) were shown to induce CTL that was capable of killing a tumor cell line expressing HLA-A3 and the corresponding tumor-associated antigen. Additional MHC binding studies with the most common HLA molecules belonging to the HLA-A3 superfamily (HLA-A*1101, -A*3101, -A*3301, and -A*6801), demonstrated that CEA[9(61)] binds five of five A3 supertype molecules with high affinity, and the HER2[9(754)] epitope was able to bind to four of the same five alleles. These results indicate that these two new CTL epitopes should be immunogenic in individuals expressing either HLA-A3, or other members of the HLA-A3 superfamily.  相似文献
