Transparent conducting SnO2 powders doped with 10% Fe content were prepared by a polymerized complex method under acidic solutions, and annealed finally at 550 °C, and at 600 °C. These samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, magnetization, and Mössbauer spectrometry at room temperature. Rutile SnO2 phase was obtained for both samples, and the crystallite sizes were in the range of 13-14 nm. Both samples exhibit magnetization and the saturation magnetization was smaller for the sample annealed at 600 °C than for sample annealed at 550 °C. Room temperature Mössbauer spectra for both samples showed the presence of two different paramagnetic iron sites but no magnetic sextets. These results suggest that ferromagnetism originates from magnetic defects and not directly from iron ions. 相似文献

The CTFA Evaluation of Alternatives Program is an evaluation of the relationship between data from the Draize primary eye irritation test and comparable data from a selection of promising in vitro eye irritation tests. In Phase III, data from the Draize test and 41 in vitro endpoints on 25 representative surfactant-based personal care formulations were compared. As in Phase I and Phase II, regression modelling of the relationship between maximum average Draize score (MAS) and in vitro endpoint was the primary approach adopted for evaluating in vitro assay performance. The degree of confidence in prediction of MAS for a given in vitro endpoint is quantified in terms of the relative widths of prediction intervals constructed about the fitted regression curve. Prediction intervals reflect not only the error attributed to the model but also the material-specific components of variation in both the Draize and the in vitro assays. Among the in vitro assays selected for regression modeling in Phase III, the relationship between MAS and in vitro score was relatively well defined. The prediction bounds on MAS were most narrow for materials at the lower or upper end of the effective irritation range (MAS = 0-45), where variability in MAS was smallest. This, the confidence with which the MAS of surfactant-based formulations is predicted is greatest when MAS approaches zero or when MAS approaches 45 (no comment is made on prediction of MAS > 45 since extrapolation beyond the range of observed data is not possible). No single in vitro endpoint was found to exhibit relative superiority with regard to prediction of MAS. Variability associated with Draize test outcome (e.g. in MAS values) must be considered in any future comparisons of in vivo and in vitro test results if the purpose is to predict in vivo response using in vitro data. 相似文献

A strong antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli of Cu‐BTC metal‐organic frameworks immobilized over cellulosic fibers is hereby reported. The in situ synthesis of Cu‐BTC metal‐organic frameworks, aka MOF‐199 or HKUST‐1, onto cellulosic substrates was carried out by exposing carboxymethylated cellulosic substrates to Cu(OAC)2, 1,3,5‐benzenetricarboxylic acid and triethylamine solutions following a very specific order. Using an in vitro model, in accordance to ASTM E2149‐13a, we observed that the cellulose‐MOF system was able to completely eliminate the growth of E. coli on agar plates and liquid cultures. The antibacterial activity of the comprising components of MOF‐199 and the cellulosic substrate was also evaluated and determined to be negligible. Since the method used to synthesize MOF‐199 crystals provides a strong bond between the crystals and the cellulosic substrates, the crystals not detach from the anionic cellulosic fibers allowing the modified textile to be washed and reused hence opening a new avenue to fabricate antibacterial clinical fabrics. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) have been at the core of linear electronics from its beginnings. Here, we suggest an Early‐based inspired geometric model of BJT devices and its application to derive models of related electronic circuits (more specifically a common‐emitter configuration). The approach involves using a beam of isolines converging at the Early voltage as the model of a BJT. The angles of the isolines are experimentally verified often to vary almost linearly with the base current. A numerical methodology is suggested for the Early voltage estimation and applied to 12 real‐world small signal NPN BJTs. Interesting results are obtained, including the identification of diverse Early voltage values for different BJT types and estimation of transfer functions. 相似文献

The application of fibers associated with drugs is a promising alternative to meet the clinical needs of tissue repair. Curcumin exhibits great cicatricial potential because it has numerous pharmacological properties. This research aimed to produce fibers of polycaprolactone and copolymer F-108 associated with curcumin and to evaluate in vivo their action on the process of wound healing. The fibers were produced by electrospinning technique and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and fluorescence microscopy. They were applied in cutaneous wounds of rats for the analysis of photoacoustic permeation and histological study. The characterization showed that the electrospinning allowed the preparation of homogeneous material with curcumin. The fibers benefited healing of the wounds and allowed the permeation of curcumin at all stages. The use of PCL/F-108 fibers allowed the elaboration of a new curcumin delivery system, improving its bioavailability and action in the healing of excisional wound. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Industry and academia have shown great interest in the synthesis of organic–inorganic hybrid material because the modification of inorganic supports with organic groups increases the options for using these materials. Microwave irradiation as a heat source is an alternative tool compared with conventional heating (oil bath or furnace) to reduce the reaction times during the synthesis of these materials. Thus, the purpose of this work was to synthesize an organic–inorganic hybrid material, more specifically silica nanoparticles modified with 3-chloropropyl-trimethoxysilane, using microwave irradiation as the heat source. The hybrid materials were synthesized using the sol–gel method, with microwave irradiation for 10, 25, and 40?min, at 300?W of power and temperature of 40, 60, and 80°C. Elemental analyses, FTIR, and N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms were developed to characterize the materials. It can be concluded that when microwave irradiation is used as a heat source, the reaction rate is accelerated and the surface area of hybrid materials increases considerably. 相似文献

Significant progress has been made in understanding the cues involved in the host and mate seeking behaviors of spotted wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura). This insect pest has been discovered in many fruit growing regions around the world since 2008. Unlike closely related Drosophila species, D. suzukii attacks fresh fruit and has become a severe pest of soft fruits including strawberry, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, and may pose a threat to grapes. Prior to 2008, little was known about the courtship and host-seeking behaviors or chemical ecology of this pest. Since then, researchers have gained a better understanding of D. suzukii attraction to specific odors from fermentation, yeast, fruit, and leaf sources, and the visual cues that elicit long-range attraction. Several compounds have also been identified that elicit aversive behaviors in adult D. suzukii flies. Progress has been made in identifying the constituent compounds from these odor sources that elicit D. suzukii antennal responses in electrophysiological assays. Commercial lures based on food volatiles have been developed to attract D. suzukii using these components and efforts have been made to improve trap designs for monitoring this pest under field conditions. However, current food-based lures and trap technologies are not expected to be specific to D. suzukii and thus capture large numbers of non-target drosophilids. Attractive and aversive compounds are being evaluated for monitoring, mass trapping, and for the development of attract-and-kill and push-pull techniques to manage D. suzukii populations. This review outlines presently available research on the chemical ecology of D. suzukii and discusses areas for future research. 相似文献

4-C-Alkyl/aryl-S-ribosylhomocysteine (SRH) analogues were prepared by coupling of homocysteine with 4-substituted ribofuranose derivatives. The diastereoselective incorporation of the methyl substituent into the 4 position of the ribose ring was accomplished by the addition of methylmagnesium bromide to the protected ribitol-4-ulose yielding the 4-C-methylribitol in 85% yield as single 4R diastereomer. The 4-C hexyl, octyl, vinyl, and aryl ribitols were prepared analogously. Chelation controlled addition of a carbanion to ketones from the Si-face was responsible for the observed stereochemical outcome. Oxidation of the primary alcohol of the 4-C ribitols with catalytic amounts of tetrapropylammonium perruthenate in the presence of N-methylmorpholine N-oxide produced 4-C-alkylribono-1,4-lactones in high yields. Mesylation of the latter compounds at the 5-hydroxyl position and treatment with a protected homocysteine thiolate afforded protected 4-C-alkyl/aryl-SRH analogues as the lactones. Reduction with lithium triethylborohydride and successive global deprotections with TFA afforded 4-C-alkyl/aryl SRH analogues. These analogues might impede the S-ribosylhomocysteinase(LuxS)-catalyzed reaction by preventing β-elimination of a homocysteine molecule, and thus depleting the production of quorum sensing signaling molecule AI-2. 相似文献

Six fillers from forestry wastes (wood, bark, cones and needles from young pine trees, kraft lignin, and recycled paper sludge from industry wastes) were incorporated into polyurethane (PU)‐based foams prepared via free‐rise pouring method. Variable filler contents (1, 5, and 10 wt %) and NCO/OH ratios (0.6, 0.9, and 1.2) were investigated. A simple mixture (1:3) of castor oil and crude glycerin (byproduct from biodiesel production) was used as biobased polyol. The foam composites were investigated through spectroscopy, morphological, mechanical, and hygroscopic analyses. The addition of fillers decreased water uptake and yielded rigid PU systems with more homogenous cell structure. The 1% and 5% reinforcement wood were the most effective among the studied compositions, with better mechanical and hygroscopic performance, probably due the higher compatibility of the wood with the PU system, which promote urethanic bonds between filler and isocyanate, as indicated by wet chemical results and micrographs. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
