Haptics on 3D deformable models is a challenge because of the inevitable and expensive 3D deformation computation. In this paper, we propose a new technique that extends the conventional rigid geometry images approach proposed by Gu et al. [9]. Our approach not only flattens the geometry, but also helps to accomplish deformation in an effective and efficient manner. Our approach is suitable for haptics computing, as it performs the deformation on the geometry map itself thereby avoiding the expensive 3D deformation computation. We demonstrate construction of the deformable geometry map representation and its application utilizing practical methods for interactive surgery simulation and interactive textile simulation.  相似文献

The paper presents a combined noise and damping analysis for MEMS structures, based on frequency-dependent behavioral models extracted from finite element simulations. The design of high sensitivity MEMS-based microsystems needs to consider the frequency noise shaping induced by damping phenomena on micro scale motion, for its contribution can be significant in the system level noise analysis. Frequency-dependent behavioral models for squeeze-film damping are generated from finite element analysis simulations. Unlike existing noise analysis reported in literature, based on frequency-independent damping assumption, the paper integrates the damping and noise aspects using the same frequency-dependent models. The results can be used for a noise-based optimization procedure applied to the design of resonating microsensors, as illustrated for the case of a MEMS-based gyroscope.  相似文献

Accurate values of the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) optical properties of materials are required to make EUV optics such as filters and multilayer mirrors. The optical properties of aluminum studied in this report are required, in particular, as aluminum is used as an EUV filter material. The complex refractive index of solid aluminum and the imaginary part of the refractive index of solid iron between 17 eV and 39 eV have been measured using EUV harmonics produced from an 800 nm laser focused to 10(14) Wcm(2) in an argon gas jet impinging on a double slit interferometer.  相似文献

Beginning in the early 1970s, American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) and the associated Bell companies have used minicourses for selecting personnel in a variety of jobs involving new technologies. The minicourse approach uses material representative of training content to assess the candidate's ability to acquire knowledge relevant to full-scale training and the job. A major advantage of the minicourse approach is the ability to implement a selection procedure concurrent with the introduction of a new training program. Although minicourses are initially validated using a content-oriented strategy, the AT&T model has included criterion-related validation where possible. The experience of AT&T with seven minicourses is discussed, and validities for training criteria and job performance are reported. Minicourses are a specific example of the general class of predictors known as trainability tests. The results of a meta-analysis indicate that validities for trainability tests are comparable with validities found for ability tests and work sample tests by Hunter and Hunter (1984). The object of this study was to evaluate the in vitro deposition properties of a model spray-dried protein (β-galactosidase) from a dry powder inhaler device (ISF inhaler). The stabilized spray-dried protein was evaluated alone and when blended with equal weights of (a) Avicel and (b) mannitol. The deposition properties were studied after exposure to environments of varying humidity using a twin impinger and a cascade impactor. The spray-dried material was extremely sensitive to humidity, with large reductions in respirable fraction occurring after storage at 43% relative humidity. The presence of a nonhygroscopic carrier (mannitol) did not prevent this reduction. There was no significant difference between the estimates of respirable fraction obtained using the cascade impactor and twin impinger for the material which had been stored in a dessicator. However, for the powders which had been exposed to environments of 43% relative humidity, the twin impinger was more reliable, as the cascade impactor results were adversely affected by entrainment of aggregates in the air stream.  相似文献
