Metrological Characteristics of MN-3 Solid-Body DC Voltage Measures

Results of theoretical and experimental investigations into the statistical characteristics of the voltage instability of type MN-3 measures are presented. The capabilities of linear mathematical models of the voltage instability of solid-body measures are considered and evaluated. It is shown that MN-3 type measures maintain a relative measurement (comparison) error in the range 1·10^–8–3·10^–8 only for a measurement period t 1 h and that with t 1 day, the error increases to values in the range 5·10^–8–8·10^–8, while when t 1–3 months it increases to 5·10^–7.     

Study of the longitudinal stability of strip made of copper alloys during rolling in the vertical rolls of a strip mill

A method has been developed for experimentally studying the longitudinal stability of strip being rolled in vertical rolls on a strip mill with and without tension. The method makes it possible to study the effect of tension of the strip and reduction of its edges for different ratios of strip thickness to width. Quantitative results are obtained to evaluate the loss of stability and limiting state of strip when its edges undergo reduction.     

Luminescence of zinc oxide nanorods

The spectra of spontaneous and stimulated emission of ZnO nanorods grown by two low-temperature procedures are studied. Stimulated emission at 385 nm is observed at room temperature in CVD ZnO nanocrystals pumped by the nitrogen laser radiation at the wavelength 337 nm. The threshold pumping power density for lasing exitonic recombination is ～600 kW/cm².
