Solid state polymerization (SSP) offers an effective route for synthesizing green polymers with variable molecular weights depending on polymerization condition. In this work, critical factors governing the molecular weight of polylactic acid (PLA) in the course of SSP are manipulated systematically and their contributions to the efficiency of SSP process are discussed. The initial molecular weight of the prepolymer formed, the degree of crystallinity of prepolymer, and the SSP time are changed and analyzed for their effects through different analyses including differential scanning calorimetry, gel permeation chromatography, and Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy techniques. It was observed that PLA having highest molecular weight would be the result of formation of a prepolymer having low‐molecular weight, as detected by the analysis of functional group concentration. For the optimized sample, the rate of mass loss in SSP was 12,263 g/mol.day and a crystallinity drop over the hydrolysis process was 3.14 per day. The crystallinity of prepolymers was optimized at ca. 26% in regard with the PLA showing the highest molecular weight. J. VINYL ADDIT. Water-Assisted cold isostatic Pressing (WAP) enabled pressure-less sintering of fine grained (0.6 μm) and nearly full dense (99.3%) weakly translucent alumina ceramics. As a term of comparison, Dry Pressed (DP) samples, prepared under identical processing conditions, maintained an opaque appearance, and their relative density did not exceed 97.7%. The enhanced compaction of WAP allowed to lower the sintering temperature down to 1350°C, which is approximately 100–150°C lower than that of DP powder. WAP samples resulted in an apparent activation energy for sintering (640 kJ/mol) matching literature values, confirming that the enhanced sinterability was attributed to an improved green density rather than a change in sintering mechanisms.  相似文献

In the present study, multilayered Cr–N/Cr–Al–N coatings were prepared by cathodic arc physical vapor deposition (PVD) with different numbers of layers and the same total thickness on AISI 630 steel in an attempt to improve the wear and erosion–corrosion resistance. Structural analysis of the coatings was performed by field scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Depth profiles and roughness parameters of worn surfaces were calculated after erosion and wear tests. XRD indicated that nitride compounds were formed in multilayer coatings by PVD. The Cr–N/Cr–Al–N coating exhibited superior corrosion resistance compared with AISI 630 substrate. The erosion–corrosion results revealed that the smoothest wear track with the minimum erosion rate and wear depth was obtained for five- and seven-layered coatings. The failure mechanism of the bare substrate was influenced by plastic deformation via cutting and plowing, while the failure mechanism for coated samples was chipping and delamination. According to the wear results, the multilayer coatings showed a lower friction coefficient and better surface morphology that demonstrated their high ability for wear protection.  相似文献

(Hf1-xZrx)B2 solid solution powders were synthesized by two methods. First, solution-based processing of HfCl4, ZrCl4, sucrose, and H3BO3 was conducted followed by heat treatment in Argon to carry out the carbothermal reduction (CTR) reaction to form the diboride powders. Alternatively, in the so-called borohydride reduction (BHR) method, HfCl4, ZrCl4 and NaBH4 were mixed in an Argon glove box followed by heat treatment in Argon at 700?1500 °C. The synthesized powders were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, and TGA, and the influence of different parameters such as starting composition, heat treatment temperature and time on products characteristics were revealed. Both CTR and BHR solid solution powders were then consolidated within ~5 min in a homemade flash sintering (FS) setup. The composition, microstructure, hardness, and thermal-oxidation properties of flash sintered ceramics were characterized, and the implication of this study and directions for future research were discussed.  相似文献

The antiproliferative action of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in osteosarcoma, breast carcinoma, and colon carcinoma cell lines has been described. In this study, the level of vitamin D receptor was analyzed in a panel of colon adenoma and adenocarcinoma cell lines and the receptor level was correlated with the response to treatment with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. Ribonuclease protection and ligand-binding assays quantitated the level of vitamin D receptor mRNA expression and the level of functional receptors, respectively. The more well-differentiated cell lines, such as VACO 330, showed higher levels of vitamin D receptor than less-differentiated cell lines, such as SW620. Proliferation assay, clonogenic assay, and growth curve study in HT29 and SW620 cell lines assessed the antiproliferative effect of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 at concentrations ranging from 10(-11) to 10(-6) M. HT29 showed significant (P < 0.05) growth inhibition at 10(-9) to 10(-6) M concentrations, but growth of SW620 remained unchanged. The amount of vitamin D receptor in 12 malignant colonic tumors was compared with that of adjacent normal tissue, and in 9 cases, the tumor expressed a lower vitamin D receptor level. Our results suggest that the level of vitamin D receptor correlates with the degree of differentiation in human colon cancer cell lines and may serve as a useful biological marker in predicting clinical outcome in patients.  相似文献

This paper presents an engineering analysis of shoulder dystocia (SD) in the human birth process which usually results in damaging the brachial plexus nerves and the humerus and/or clavicle bones of the baby. The goal is to study these injuries from the mechanical engineering point of view. Two separate finite element models of the neonatal neck and the clavicle bone have been simulated using eight-node three-dimensional elements and beam elements respectively. Simulated models have been analysed under suitable boundary conditions using the 'SAP80' finite element package. Finally, results obtained have been verified by comparing them with published clinical and experimental observations.  相似文献

In this research, the corrosion resistance and adhesion property of a synthetic rubber-based primer reinforced with different ratios of micaceous iron oxide (MIO) pigments were studied. Coatings were applied on carbon steel panels and also on steel pipes of 219.1 mm outer diameter. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to investigate the dispersion of MIO particles in the rubbery matrix. The anticorrosion performance of the coatings was studied, using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and salt spray tests. In addition, the adhesion of primers to carbon steel substrates was evaluated by pull-off test. In order to investigate the effect of MIO particles on the flexibility of the pigmented primers, a cupping test was conducted. The adhesion of cold-applied tape to the formulated primers was assessed by peel adhesion test using hanging mass method. The results indicated that adding 5, 10, and 15 wt% of MIO pigments into the primer improved corrosion resistance of the coatings. An increase in the MIO loading up to 10 wt%, improved the adhesion of the primer to both steel substrate and cold-applied tape.  相似文献
