The efficiency of selective crushing with pneumomechanical separation is investigated as a function of the quality of the coal batch and the operating conditions of the fluidized-bed separator.

General aspects (including terminology) related to the use of ultradisperse particulates (nanosystems) are discussed. Using nanoparticles provides a route toward improving the rheotechnologic properties of HCBS and HCBS-based molding mixtures as well as the structure and service properties of the end product.

Methods for cleaning commercial T-1500 dielectric oil with different adsorbents are studied. The oil is intended for impregnation of high-voltage pulse capacitors with film dielectric.     

Briquetting fine-grained materials in ferroalloys production: Practical experience and future prospects

Recycling industrial wastes is one of the keys to making efficient use of mineral and energy resources, developing low-waste and waste-free technologies, improving the technical-economic indices of plant operations, and improving the environment in industrial regions. The most radical and most promising approach to the agglomeration of waste materials that exist in the form of fines — and in some cases the only viable approach — is briquetting with the use of binders. Reconstruction of vertical continuous lab casters–An optimum solution for astering the production of flat-rolled products for critical applications

Existing vertical continuous casters have outlived their normal service life of 30–35 yrs, and they are physically worn out and technically obsolete. This limits the possibilities for using them to cast metal that goes into products intended for critical applications (thick plates, ship plate, skelp for gas and oil pipelines, etc.). However, there are several technical and technogical innovations that could be used to rebuild these units. One example is the reconstruction of the vertical caster used by Severstal’ to cast slabs in its electric steelmaking shop. Severstal’ itself, the Korad Corporation, and the company Ormeto-YuUMZ were the main organizations involved in the design, rebuilding, and startup of the modernized caster. __________ Translated from Metallurg, No. 5, p. 60–62, May, 2006.     

The simulation of spin glass model of neural networks by the Wang-Landau algorithm

In the present work, the Hopfield neural network model with infinite-range interactions was simulated by using the Wang-Landau algorithm. All simulations and measurements were done in the replica symmetric and broken regions of the model with discrete ?1 values of random variables. The physical quantities such as energy density, specific heat were evaluated at all temperatures. Our results are in good agreement with the replica symmetric mean field solutions.
