Polymer/clay nanocomposites receive much attention due to their interesting mechanical and thermal properties. Currently, the vast majority of plastics are made from petroleum-based synthetic polymers that do not degrade in a natural environment and their disposal poses a serious problem. An environmentally-conscious alternative is to design polymer nanocomposites that are biodegradable.In the present work the synthesis and properties of novel polymer/clay nanocomposites based on biodegradable polymer-polylactide (PLA) were investigated. Kaolinite nanotubes obtained by an intercalation/deintercalation method as well as platey kaolinites of different structural orders were used as fillers. Mechanical properties of composites (tensile strength (SU) and Young's modulus (E)) were measured. The surface of the formed polymer derivatives was examined by AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy). The structural characterization was carried out using infrared spectroscopy (IR). Composites surface wettability was studied by measuring the water contact angle.The mechanical tests revealed that both SU and E values increased significantly after addition of the nano-filler in comparison to the pure PLA. Regardless of the filler content the increase of SU and E values was higher in the case of the nanotubular kaolinite. In particular, a threefold increase of the E value was noticed. For the most homogeneous kaolinite nanotubes/PLA nanocomposite SU increased from ~ 29 MPa (pure PLA) to ~ 43 MPa, while E increased from ~ 0.7 GPa (pure PLA) to ~ 2.3 GPa. These mechanical parameters were comparable with the ones measured for polypropylene (SU = 40 MPa; E = 1.5–2.0 GPa) and polystyrene (SU = 40 MPa; E = 3.0–3.5 GPa). Differential IR spectra of the nanocomposites indicated an interaction of kaolinites inner surface hydroxyls with PLA which was confirmed by an intensity decrease of a band at ~ 3690 cm? 1. The presence of highly dispersed nanotubular kaolinite particles in the polymer matrix which contributed to the improvement of PLA mechanical properties was observed using AFM. The contact angle measurements showed that the addition of kaolinites led to changes of wettability, yet the synthesized materials still possessed hydrophilic surfaces.  相似文献

The effect of a uniform magnetic field on the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) during water electrolysis in 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution was investigated. Irrespective of the magnetic field orientation with respect to the electrode surface, the desorption of hydrogen is enhanced by the presence of the magnetic field. This effect is displayed by a reduction of the mean bubble size as well as a narrower bubble size distribution in a magnetic field. Moreover, it is shown that in the presence of an external magnetic field the fractional bubble coverage is strongly retarded. As a consequence the current density is increased since more active sites are available for the reduction processes. These effects are discussed with respect to the Lorentz force driven convection induced by a magnetic field. In order to resolve further the influence of a magnetic field applied in the perpendicular-to-electrode configuration, where the bulk Lorentz force is negligible, a numerical study has been performed. This revealed the mechanism of the improved desorption of a hydrogen bubble from the electrode surface. The numerical study has been validated by a model experiment. Most importantly, it is clearly demonstrated that a magnetic field superposed during water decomposition is a very effective method to intensify hydrogen evolution processes, and it should be possible to significantly improve the energetic efficiency of the hydrogen production via water electrolysis in a magnetic field.  相似文献

Creating accurate three-dimensional (3D) digitalized models of cultural heritage objects requires that information about surface geometry be integrated with measurements of other material properties like color and reflectance. Up until now, these measurements have been performed in laboratories using manually integrated (subjective) data analyses. We describe an out-of-laboratory bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) and 3D shape measurement system that implements shape and BRDF measurement in a single setup with BRDF uncertainty evaluation. The setup aligns spatial data with the angular reflectance distribution, yielding a better estimation of the surface's reflective properties by integrating these two modality measurements into one setup using a single detector. This approach provides a better picture of an object's intrinsic material features, which in turn produces a higher-quality digitalized model reconstruction. Furthermore, this system simplifies the data processing by combining structured light projection and photometric stereo. The results of our method of data analysis describe the diffusive and specular attributes corresponding to every measured geometric point and can be used to render intricate 3D models in an arbitrarily illuminated scene.  相似文献

One-end-sealed single-crystal sapphire tubes are presented as a simple, robust, and economical alternative for bulky lightpipe probes. Thermal radiation from a blackbody cavity created at the inner surface of the sealed end is gathered by a simple lens-based collecting system and transmitted via optical fiber to the remote detection unit. Simplicity and applicability of the concept are demonstrated by the combination of commercially available sapphire tubes with a common optical pyrometer. Radiation thermometers with sapphire tubes as invasive probes can be useful for applications requiring immunity to electromagnetic interference, resistance to harsh environments, simple replacement in the case of failure, and enhanced mechanical firmness, enabling wider range probe positioning inside the medium of interest.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to present a general method for automation of finite element formulations of large deformation contact problems. A new automatic‐differentiation‐based notation is introduced that represents a bridge between the classical mathematical notation of contact mechanics and the actual computer implementation of contact finite elements. Automation of derivation of the required formulas (e.g. element residual and tangent matrix) combined with automatic code generation makes the finite element implementation possible at a moderate effort. Accordingly, several 3D contact formulations have been implemented in this work, including penalty and augmented Lagrangian treatments of contact constraints, and several contact smoothing techniques. A typical benchmark problem could thus be executed in an objective way leading to a comprehensive study of the efficiency and the accuracy of various formulations of 3D contact finite elements. Excessive misuse of antibiotics and antimicrobials has led to a spread of microorganisms resistant to most currently used agents. The resulting global threats has driven the search for new materials with optimal antimicrobial activity and their application in various areas of our lives. In our research, we focused on the formation of composite materials produced by the dispersion of titanium(IV)-oxo complexes (TOCs) in poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) matrix, which exhibit optimal antimicrobial activity. TOCs, of the general formula [Ti4O2(OiBu)10(O2CR’)2] (R’ = PhNH2 (1), C13H9 (2)) were synthesized as a result of the direct reaction of titanium(IV) isobutoxide and 4-aminobenzoic acid or 9-fluorenecarboxylic acid. The microcrystalline powders of (1) and (2), whose structures were confirmed by infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy, were dispersed in PCL matrixes. In this way, the composites PCL + nTOCs (n = 5 and 20 wt.%) were produced. The structure and physicochemical properties were determined on the basis of Raman microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR), and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The degree of TOCs distribution in the polymer matrix was monitored by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The addition of TOCs micro grains into the PCL matrix only slightly changed the thermal and mechanical properties of the composite compared to the pure PCL. Among the investigated PCL + TOCs systems, promising antibacterial properties were confirmed for samples of PCL + n(2) (n = 5, 20 wt.%) composites, which simultaneously revealed the best photocatalytic activity in the visible range.  相似文献

In vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of fluidized bed ethanol extracts of Pleurotus ostreatus PQMZ91109, PBS281009, M2191 (obtained from a laboratory greenhouse), Agaricus bisporus, Marasmius oreades, Craterellus cornucopioides, and Tuber melanosporum were investigated using free radical scavenging activities, metal chelating effects, inhibition of lipid peroxidation (inhibition of peroxyl radicals), xanthine oxidase, and lipoxygenase, and identification of antioxidant compounds. Levels of different compounds with antioxidant properties demonstrated the presence of more tocopherols than polyphenol carboxylic acids and flavones. HPLC showed that T. melanosporum extracts had high correlation values between levels of different active compounds and antioxidant assay results. Tocopherol levels were highly correlated (R 2=0.867) with anti-inflammatory activities and inhibition of lipid peroxidation. Fluidized bed ethanol extracts from dried mushroom fruit bodies can be a source of products rich in tocopherols, and can constitute an important ingredient in food supplements.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of diets with a different n‐6/n‐3 PUFAs ratio (7.31, 4.43, and 0.99), resulting from the addition of different dietary oils: soybean, rapeseed, and linseed (diets S, R, and L, respectively), on the fatty acid (FA) profile, oxidative status, and sensory properties of turkey breast meat. After 15 wk of feeding, breast meat yield and chemical properties of the meat were similar in all groups. Raw breast meat of R turkeys had a significantly higher content of all‐trans‐retinol and α‐tocopherol, compared with S and L. The physicochemical properties of breast meat, including pH, color, drip loss, and cooking loss, did not differ significantly. Cooked meat samples differed significantly with respect to the concentrations of oleic acid, linoleic acid (S and R>L), and linolenic acid (S and R<L). Compared with S and R, breast meat of L turkeys was characterized by higher concentrations of total PUFAs (35.1 vs. 30.1 and 29.3%), a significantly lower n‐6/n‐3 PUFAs ratio (1.51 vs. 5.43 and 5.07%) and a higher thiobarbituric acid reactive substances content (TBARS; 31.9 vs. 26.4 and 26.7 nmol/g). After 4 months of deep‐freeze storage the n‐6/n‐3 PUFAs ratio did not deteriorate. It may be concluded that replacing soybean oil with linseed oil, but not with rapeseed oil, increased the proportion of PUFAs in the total FAs pool and improved the n‐6/n‐3 PUFAs ratio, yet it also adversely affected the sensory properties and oxidative stability of meat. Both raw and stored breast meat from L turkeys was susceptible to oxidative changes, as manifested by the significantly higher TBARS concentrations (17.07 and 81.06) compared with those of the S group (10.91 and 53.00 nmol/g, respectively). Practical applications: Studies investigating the possibility of increasing the health benefits of poultry meat have been performed mostly on broilers, while the problem remains poorly researched in turkeys. Our findings show that linseed oil, in contrast to rapeseed oil, is a good source of PUFAs, in particular n‐3 PUFAs, that can be effectively transferred from feed to carcass lipids. However, desirable changes in the fatty acid profile are accompanied by increased susceptibility to lipid oxidation and deterioration of the sensory properties of meat. Thus, the linseed oil content of turkey diets should be reduced, or diets supplemented with linseed oil should be fed for shorter periods of time to alleviate the negative effects of linseed oil on the sensory attributes and oxidative status of meat.  相似文献

Carbide-derived carbons (CDC) with incorporated transition metal nanoparticles (~2.5 nm) were prepared using a microemulsion approach. Time-consuming post synthesis functionalization of the carbon support material can thus be avoided and nanoparticle sizes can be controlled by changing the microemulsion composition. This synthesis strategy is a technique for the preparation of highly porous carbon materials with a catalytically active component. In particular we investigated the integration of ruthenium, palladium, and platinum in a concentration ranging from 4.45 to 12 wt.%. It was found that the transition metal has a considerable influence on sorption properties of resulting nanoparticle-CDC composite materials. Depending on the used metal salt additive the surface area and the pore volume ranges from 1480 m2/g and 1.25 cm3/g for Pt to 2480 m2/g and 2.0 cm3/g for Ru doped carbons. Moreover, members of this material class show impressive properties as heterogeneous catalysts. The liquid phase oxidation of tetralin and the partial oxidation of methane were studied, and electrochemical applications were also investigated. Primarily Pt doped CDCs are highly active in the oxygen reduction reaction, which is of great importance in present day fuel cell research.  相似文献
