Surface functionalization of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was carried out by introducing a ylide group containing anchored
phenol structures. Epoxy nanocomposites filled with modified and pristine carbon nanotubes were prepared, and their mechanical,
electrical, and thermal properties were evaluated. Mechanical properties such as tensile strengths and Young’s moduli of the
epoxy nanocomposites increased significantly with the addition of the modified MWCNTs compared to the pristine MWCNTs, due
to the strong interaction between the modified MWCNTs and the epoxy matrix. Scanning electron microscopy of the fractured
epoxy systems revealed that the functionalized MWCNTs were finely dispersed in the matrix, as opposed to the pristine carbon
nanotubes. The epoxy/functionalized MWCNT nanocomposite had a lower surface electrical resistance than the epoxy/pristine

BACKGROUND: Purification and enzymatic properties of a chitosanase from Bacillus subtilis RKY3 have been investigated to produce a chitooligosaccharide. The enzyme reported was extracellular and constitutive, which was purified by two sequential steps including ammonium sulfate precipitation and ion exchange chromatography. RESULTS: Sodium dodecyl sulfate‐polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the purified chitosanase revealed one single band corresponding to a molecular weight of around 24 kDa. The highest chitosanase activity was found to be at pH 6.0 and at 60 °C. Although the mercaptide forming agents such as Hg2+ (10 mmol L?1) and p‐hydroxymercuribenzoic acid (1 mmol L?1, 10 mmol L?1) significantly or totally inhibited the enzyme activity, its activity was enhanced by the presence of 10 mmol L?1 Mn2+. The enzyme showed activity for hydrolysis of soluble chitosan and glycol chitosan, but colloidal chitin, carboxymethyl cellulose, crystalline cellulose, and soluble starch were not hydrolyzed. The analysis of chitosan hydrolysis by thin‐layer chromatography and viscosity variation revealed that the purified enzyme should be endosplitting‐type chitosanase. CONCLUSION: The chitosanase produced by Bacillus subtilis RKY3 was a novel chitosanlytic enzyme with relatively low molecular weight, which is a versatile enzyme for chitosan hydrolysis because it could hydrolyze soluble chitosan into a biofunctional oligosaccharide at a high level. Nanoscale TiO2 particle filled poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) film is characterized by investigating some properties such as surface morphology, thermal and crystalline properties, swelling behavior after absorbing electrolyte solution, chemical and electrochemical stabilities, ionic conductivity, and compatibility with lithium electrode. Decent self-supporting polymer electrolyte film can be obtained at the range of <50 wt% TiO2. Different optimal TiO2 contents showing maximum liquid uptake may exist by adopting other electrolyte solution. Room temperature ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte placed surely on the region of >10−3 S/cm, and thus the film is very applicable to rechargeable lithium batteries. An emphasis is also be paid on that much lower interfacial resistance between the polymer electrolyte and lithium metal electrode can be obtained by the solid-solvent role of nanoscale TiO2 filler. 相似文献

Hybrid nanocomposites based on organophillic montmorillonite (MMT) and ethylene–propylene–diene rubber (EPDM) have been prepared by a melt compounding process. From analysis by X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy, the rubber molecules were found to be intercalated into the galleries of organoMMT and the silicate layers of organoMMT are uniformly dispersed as platelets of 50–80 nm thickness in the EPDM matrix. Dynamic mechanical studies reveal a strong rubber–filler interaction in the hybrid nanocomposite which is manifested in the lowering of tan δ at the glass transition temperature. The hybrid nanocomposites exhibit great improvement in tensile and tear strength, and modulus, as well as elongation‐at‐break. Moreover, the permeability of oxygen for the hybrid nanocomposite was reduced remarkably. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Migration experiments were carried out in artificial rock fractures of 50×50 cm scale in order to understand the transport
phenomena of contaminants in deep geological environment. The tracers used in this experiments were tritiated water, anion,
polymers, and sorbing cations. The experimental study was focused on the interpretation of the retardation and matrix diffusion
of the tracer in the fracture. To visualize migration phenomena, an organic dye, eosine, was used as a tracer. The migration
plumes were taken with a digital camera as a function of time and stored as a digital image file. Computer simulation was
performed not only for the hydraulic behavior such as distributions of pressure and flow vectors in the fracture but also
for the migration plume and the elution curves. These simulation results were interpreted by comparing experimental ones,
thus providing a way to understand migration behavior of tracers and interaction between rock and chemical species. 相似文献

The effect of sodium promotion on the selective hydrogenation of 4-isobutylacetophenone, 4-IBAP, was investigated over a Pd/C catalyst. A precipitation and deposition method was used to prepare the catalyst, and sodium was promoted on the Pd/C catalyst via post-impregnation while varying the sodium content. The sodium-promoted Pd/C catalyst resulted in a significantly improved yield greater than 96% of the desired product, 1-(4-isobutylphenyl) ethanol (4-IBPE), compared with the non-patented literature results under a mild hydrogenation condition. A detailed hydrogenation network over the Pd/C catalyst was suggested. The reaction mechanism for the yield and selectivity enhancement of 4-IBPE induced-by the promoted Pd/C was elucidated in relation to the geometric and electronic effects of reactant molecules in the microporous support depending on the reaction steps. 相似文献

Doped poly(4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone) (pDDS) is prepared for use as a cathode-active material of lithium secondary batteries by chemical oxidation method using ammonium persulfate initiator. The synthesized pDDS and doped pDDS are characterized by chemical structure analysis using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry shows that the doped pDDS has a typical pair of redox peaks at 3.75/3.15 V vs. Li/Li+, corresponding to charging/discharging of the lithium ion. The discharge capacity at low current rate (0.05 C-rate) achieves 31.5 and 24.3 mA h g?1 in the initial and 50th cycles, respectively. The doped pDDS also shows good cycle performance and high-rate capability, making it appropriate as a cathode material of lithium secondary batteries. 相似文献

Magnetoelectric laminate composites of piezoelectric/magnetostrictive materials were prepared by stacking and bonding together a PZT disk and two layers of Terfenol-D disks with different directions of magnetostriction. These composites were studied to investigate (i) dependence on the magnetostriction direction of the Terfenol-D disk and (ii) dependence on the direction of the applied ac magnetic field. Three different types of assemblies were prepared by using two types of disks: one with magnetostriction along the radial direction, the other with magnetostriction along the thickness direction. The maximum magnetoelectric voltage coefficient (d E /d H ) of 5.90 V/cm·Oe was obtained for a design where the composite was made by two Terfenol-D layers with a radial magnetostriction direction. 相似文献

Exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) in the gestational period damages the reproductive health of offspring; detailed evidence regarding BPA-induced damage in testicular germ cells of offspring is still limited. In this study, pregnant mice (F0) were gavaged with three BPA doses (50 μg, 5 mg, and 50 mg/kg body weight (bw)/day; tolerable daily intake (TDI), no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL), and lowest-observed-adverse-effect level (LOAEL), respectively) on embryonic days 7 to 14, followed by investigation of the transgenerational effects of such exposure in male offspring. We observed that the NOAEL- and LOAEL-exposed F1 offspring had abnormalities in anogenital distance, nipple retention, and pubertal onset (days), together with differences in seminiferous epithelial stages and testis morphology. These effects were eradicated in the next F2 and F3 generations. Moreover, there was an alteration in the ratio of germ cell population and the apoptosis rate in germ cells increased in F1 offspring at the LOAEL dose. However, the total number of spermatogonia remained unchanged. Finally, a reduction in the stemness properties of spermatogonial stem cells in F1 offspring was observed upon LOAEL exposure. Therefore, we provide evidence of BPA-induced disruption of physiology and functions in male germ cells during the gestational period. This may lead to several reproductive health issues and infertility in offspring. 相似文献
