The objective of this study was to compare the anthropometry, body composition and biochemical profile between eutrophic and obese children, as well as to relate the children's nutritional state and body composition to those of their respective parents. A control-case study was carried out with 50 eutrophic and 50 obese children paired according to gender, age, socioeconomic condition, and selected from the nutritional evaluation of 2 074 children aged 6 to 8 years, attending public and private urban schools in Vi?osa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The measurements evaluated were weight, height, circumferences (waist and hip) and thickness skinfolds (triceps and subscapular). The serum levels of glucose, total-cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and hemoglobin in the children were evaluated. The obese children presented a larger body size and higher percentage for total body fat as well as its accumulation in the central region, and higher serum levels for triglycerides (p < 0.05). For all biochemical parameters, except for hemoglobin and HDL, there occurred a positive correlation with the located fat in the central region as well as with the total body fat in children (p < 0.05). The obese mothers showing high percentage of body fat and its accumulation in the central region rather tend to have children with these characteristics (p < 0.05). The highest number of the close relatives who are obese and present dyslipidemia is highlighted in the obese children (p < 0.05). This study evidences the differences concerning to the distribution of the body fat and lipid profile among eutrophic and obese children, as well as the strong influence of the maternal obesity upon child's obesity. 相似文献

The authors tested a dolphin's (Tursiops truncatus) understanding of human manual pointing gestures to 3 distal objects located to the left of, to the right of, or behind the dolphin. The human referred to an object through a direct point (Pd), a cross-body point (Px), or a familiar symbolic gesture (S). In Experiment 1, the dolphin responded correctly to 80% of Pds toward laterally placed objects but to only 40% of Pds to the object behind. Responding to objects behind improved to 88% in Experiment 2 after exaggerated pointing was briefly instituted. Spontaneous comprehension of Pxs also was demonstrated. In Experiment 3, the human produced a sequence of 2 Pds, 2 Pxs, 2 Ss, or all 2-way combinations of these 3 to direct the dolphin to take the object referenced second to the object referenced first. Accuracy ranged from 68% to 77% correct (chance?=?17%). These results established that the dolphin understood the referential character of the human manual pointing gesture. A screening method for analysis of 46 antibiotics residues, belonging to different classes, such as tetracyclines, sulfonamides, fluoroquinolones, β-lactams, cephalosporins, macrolides and other minority groups was developed and validated for application in bovine milk and bovine, swine, poultry, equine, fish and shrimp meat samples. Sample preparation consists in solvent extraction followed by clean up with C18 bulk and low temperature purification. Instrumental analysis was performed using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry system. Chromatographic separation was achieved using a C18 column. Mobile phase was composed by methanol and water. The method was validated according to Commission Decision 2002/657/EC criteria. Validation parameters such as specificity and detection capability (CCβ) were determined and considered suitable to the established criteria. Values of CCβ ranged from 1.0 to 50.0 μg L?1 or μg Kg?1, depending on the compound and the matrix. The proposed method has been applied into Brazilian National Residue Control Plan since 2013 for the determination of antibiotic residues. A total of 3833 samples were analyzed until the current date and 13 samples showed positive results with concentrations above the permitted. The method is fast, easy and adequate for high throughput analysis in routine laboratories. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to investigate cellulose acetate/poly(epichlorohydrin) (CA/PEPi) blends and cellulose acetate/poly(epichlorohydrin)/organically modified montmorillonite clay nanocomposites (CA/PEPi/MMTO) prepared by melt processing in a twin-screw extruder. The combination of an elastomer and clay in the cellulose acetate matrix was an attempt made to reach a balance between toughness and strength properties. The blend and nanocomposite structure, morphology and thermal properties were investigated by small angle X-ray scattering, transmission electron microscopy and dynamical mechanical analysis. The results showed immiscibility of the polymer components for all the CA/PEPi blend composition range investigated. In the case of the nanocomposites, the results indicated a significant polymer intercalation in the clay gallery as well as the exfoliation of the silicate layers. Moreover, the organoclay was present in the CA phase, but some of the organoclay migrated to the CA/PEPi interface and tended to surround the PEPi phase. The addition of PEPi elastomer to cellulose acetate showed a significant increase in the blend impact resistance. However the combination of PEPi and MMTO did not in fact produce a good stiffness versus toughness balance. 相似文献

Wood gasification technologies to convert the biomass into fuel gas stand out. On the other hand, producing electrical energy from stationary engine is widely spread, and its application in rural communities where the electrical network doesn’t exist is very required. The recovery of exhaust gases (engine) is a possibility that makes the system attractive when compared with the same components used to obtain individual heat such as electric power. This paper presents an energetic alternative to adapt a fixed bed gasifier with a compact cogeneration system in order to cover electrical and thermal demands in a rural area and showing an energy solution for small social communities using renewable fuels. Therefore, an energetic and economical analysis from a cogeneration system producing electric energy, hot and cold water, using wooden gas as fuel from a small-sized gasifier was calculated. The energy balance that includes the energy efficiency (electric generation as well as hot and cold water system; performance coefficient and the heat exchanger, among other items), was calculated. Considering the annual interest rates and the amortization periods, the costs of production of electrical energy, hot and cold water were calculated, taking into account the investment, the operation and the maintenance cost of the equipments. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance and to estimate costs of two round baling systems for harvesting understory biomass. One system was a cutter-shredder-baler prototype (Bio-baler). The other system required two successive operations. The first operation was cutting and shredding with a Supertrak tractor equipped with a Fecon mulcher head. The second operation was baling with a Claas baler. The machines were evaluated in three different pine stands on the Osceola National Forest in Florida, United States. Data collection included time study, fuel consumption and bale measurements. Material was collected from a sample of bales for heat and moisture content determination. On the most representative site (Site 2), the Bio-baler recovered 8.05 green t ha−1 while the mulcher and the Claas baler recovered 9.75 green t ha−1 (43 and 52 percent of original understory biomass, respectively). Productivity was 0.30 ha h−1 for the Bio-baler and 0.51 ha h−1 for the Claas baler. Density of the bales was 321 green kg m−3 for the Bio-baler and 373 green kg m−3 for the Claas baler. Average net heat content was 6263 MJ bale−1 for the Bio-baler and 6695 MJ bale−1 for the Claas baler with biomass containing 38 percent of moisture content on a wet basis. Cost per unit area was less with the Bio-baler (US$320.91 ha−1) than with the mulcher-baler system (US$336.62-US$596.77 ha−1). 相似文献

The hyperphosphorylation of microtubule‐associated protein tau (tau) in the hippocampus can be caused by central and peripheral insulin resistance and these alterations are related to the development of tauopathies, such as Alzheimer's disease. In this study, we used a high‐fat diet to induce obesity and insulin resistance in adult Swiss mice and checked whether supplementation with Myrciaria jaboticaba berry peel for 10 weeks could improve insulin sensitivity, learning/memory performance, and prevent tau phosphorylation in the hippocampus. Furthermore, adipocytokines, inflammatory markers, and oxidative stress were assessed. Myrciaria jaboticaba peel has phenolic compounds (e.g., cyanidin, ellagic acid), dietary fiber and carotenoids, which contribute to great antioxidant capacity. Supplementation of the high‐fat diet with 4% M. jaboticaba peel prevented fat weight gain and reduced peripheral insulin resistance. The treated group also showed lower tau phosphorylation in the hippocampus corroborating better learning/memory performance in the Morris water maze test. Maintenance of neuronal viability, lower levels of hippocampal inflammatory markers, and improved brain antioxidant defenses were also related to the consumption of M. jaboticaba peel. These findings contribute to a better understanding of how a high‐fat diet supplemented with jaboticaba berry peel counteracts the impairment of cognitive functions caused by high‐fat diet intake and diet‐induced insulin resistance. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the detection limit of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for direct identification, without previous microbiological culture, of bovine mastitis-causing bacteria from milk samples. Milk samples (n = 15) were experimentally contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus uberis, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, and Escherichia coli to have bacterial counts ranging from 103 to 109 cfu/mL. These contaminated milk samples were subjected to a preparation protocol for bacterial ribosomal protein extraction using the MALDI Sepsityper kit (Bruker Daltonik, Bremen, Germany), which allowed MALDI-TOF MS coupled with Biotyper software (Bruker Daltonik) to identify bacterial fingerprints based on intact ribosomal proteins. The ability of MALDI-TOF MS to correctly identify bacterial strains from experimentally contaminated milk (without previous microbiological culture) depended on the bacterial count of the samples and on the species of the bacteria evaluated. Adequate identification at the bacterial species level (score ≥2.0) directly from milk samples required bacterial counts in the following ranges: ≥106 cfu/mL of Staph. aureus, ≥107 cfu/mL of E. coli, and ≥108 cfu/mL of Strep. agalactiae, Strep. dysgalactiae, and Strep. uberis. We concluded that direct identification of mastitis-causing pathogens is possible for Staph. aureus, E. coli, Strep. agalactiae, Strep. dysgalactiae, and Strep. uberis, but correct identification depended on the bacterial count in the milk samples. 相似文献
