Photoreceptor Cells Constitutively Express IL-35 and Promote Ocular Immune Privilege

Interleukin-27 is constitutively secreted by microglia in the retina or brain, and upregulation of IL-27 during neuroinflammation suppresses encephalomyelitis and autoimmune uveitis. However, while IL-35 is structurally and functionally similar to IL-27, the intrinsic roles of IL-35 in CNS tissues are unknown. Thus, we generated IL-35/YFP-knock-in reporter mice (p35-KI) and demonstrated that photoreceptor neurons constitutively secrete IL-35, which might protect the retina from persistent low-grade inflammation that can impair photoreceptor functions. Furthermore, the p35-KI mouse, which is hemizygous at the il12a locus, develops more severe uveitis because of reduced IL-35 expression. Interestingly, onset and exacerbation of uveitis in p35-KI mice caused by extravasation of proinflammatory Th1/Th17 lymphocytes into the retina were preceded by a dramatic decrease of IL-35, attributable to massive death of photoreceptor cells. Thus, while inflammation-induced death of photoreceptors and loss of protective effects of IL-35 exacerbated uveitis, our data also suggest that constitutive production of IL-35 in the retina might have housekeeping functions that promote sterilization immunity in the neuroretina and maintain ocular immune privilege.

All-spray-coated semitransparent inverted organic solar cells: From electron selective to anode layers

We demonstrated an all-solution-processed electron selective layer, active layer and top electrode for large-area inverted organic solar cells. The fabricated devices are semitransparent, fully spray-coated, highly efficient and air-stable, with power efficiencies of 2.41% and 1.0% for cell areas of 0.36 and 15.25 cm², respectively. The shelf life of the cells in air is demonstrated by the ∼80% retention of original cell efficiency after 30 days.     

Convective instabilities and transport properties in horizontal fluid layers

This paper concerns the analysis of convective instabilities and fully developed transport properties in Bénard convection. The onset of convective instabilities driven by surface-tension variations and buoyancy forces is analyzed theoretically by using the propagation theory we have developed. Based on these stability criteria, the subsequent transport correlations of fully developed buoyancy-driven convection in horizontal fluid layers are suggested. It is found that the present predictions are compared favorably with existing experimental results.     

Cytotoxic Petrosiacetylenes from the Marine Sponge Petrosia sp.

A novel petrosiacetylene analog (petrosiacetylene E) has been isolated from the Korean marine sponge Petrosia sp., along with petrosiacetylene A, B and C. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods and the stereochemistry of the new compound was determined by using the modified Mosher’s method. Petrosiacetylene E showed higher cytotoxicity against five human cancer cell lines than petrosiacetylene A and B, presumably due to the additional hydroxy group located at C-16.     

The Discovery of Aurora Kinase Inhibitor by Multi-Docking-Based Virtual Screening

We report the discovery of aurora kinase inhibitor using the fragment-based virtual screening by multi-docking strategy. Among a number of fragments collected from eMololecules, we found four fragment molecules showing potent activity (>50% at 100 μM) against aurora kinase. Based on the explored fragment scaffold, we selected two compounds in our synthesized library and validated the biological activity against Aurora kinase.     

铝溶胶的制备条件对其凝胶成球性能的影响

以硝酸和拟薄水铝石为原料制备了铝溶胶,考察了x(H+/Al摩尔比)和φ(六亚甲基四胺溶液与硝酸溶液的体积比)值对铝溶胶在油中凝胶成球性能的影响。使用氧化铝颗粒的Zingg指数对铝溶胶制备条件进行了评价。结果表明:铝溶胶和半透明铝溶胶的制备条件是x分别大于0.05和0.07;增大x和φ值均利于铝溶胶的凝胶化,但过大的x和φ值不利于溶胶收缩成球;Zingg曲线在1附近的平稳区间对应的x和φ值是合适的铝溶胶制备条件。     

主动桁架模态的试验研究

以一个78杆空间桁架为试验模型，研究线性主动结构构型的试验问题。对构型主动结构及特性分析的试验技术做了实践。采用耦合模态空间的二次型最优控制算法，利用压电堆作动器，构型了主动桁架。采用dAPACE半实物物理仿真操作平台，分别测试了被动桁架和主动桁架的模态振型和模态参数，并测试了主动桁架在随机激励作用下的传递函数。结果表明，主动结构由于引入了控制系统而使得结构的阻尼增大，同时由于在压电作动器附近的杆单元的模态受到抑制，所以主动桁架的模态与相应的被动桁架的模态存在着较大的差别。
