An ultrastructural study of amyloid deposits in four cases of squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix was performed. The amyloid deposits reacted with anti-keratin antiserum on frozen sections. Amyloid deposits showed nodular (4 cases) and star-like forms (3 cases). Nodular amyloid deposits were composed of slightly whorled fibrils, measuring 7-10 nm in width. Some of them contained cellular debris and thicker, more electron-dense filaments than amyloid fibrils. In three cases, filamentous tumour cells and filamentous masses were observed together with amyloid. Star-like amyloid deposits were composed of bundles of straight amyloid fibrils. Some of the tumour cells in contact with star-like amyloid deposits had deep cytoplasmic invaginations, where closely packed amyloid fibrils were arrayed in parallel fashion. In addition, a few tumour cells had membrane-bound amyloid fibrils in the cytoplasm. It is suggested that nodular amyloid deposits are derived from the tumour cells through filamentous degeneration. Amyloid fibrils in star-like amyloid deposits are thought to be formed within the cytoplasm or in the vicinity of invaginated cytoplasmic membranes of the tumour cells.  相似文献

Reducing the power consumed by motors is important for energy conservation in the case of electrical appliances and electric vehicles (EVs). The motors used for operating these devices operate at variable speeds. Further, the motors operate with a small load in the stationary mode and a large load in the starting mode. A permanent magnet motor can be operated at rated power with high efficiency. However, the efficiency is low under a small load or at high speeds because the large constant magnetic force results in substantial core loss. Furthermore, the flux‐weakening current that decreases the voltage at high speeds leads to significant copper loss and core loss. Therefore, we have developed a new technique for controlling the magnetic force of a permanent magnet on the basis of the load or speed of the motor. In this paper we propose a novel motor that can vary the magnetic flux of a permanent magnet and clarify the principles and basic characteristics of the motor. The new motor has a permanent magnet that is magnetized by the magnetizing coil of the stator. The results of analysis show that the magnetic flux linkage of the motor can be changed from 37% to 100% and that a high torque can be produced. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A theory of adhesion between an elastic beam and a rigid body is proposed using linear beam theory. Normalized force between the elastic beam and the rigid body considering adhesion of the side surface of the elastic beam is investigated theoretically. Adhesion of an elastic beam is important to analyze gecko adhesion, and peeling mechanism of an adhered film. This adhesion is also important in design of grip-and-release devices. The force between an elastic beam and a rigid body is investigated by considering shear force and total energy, and is obtained as a function of the displacement of the elastic beam. The proposed theory is different from Kendall’s thin-film peeling theory in terms of the elastic energy. The proposed theory considers bending elastic energy, whereas Kendall’s theory considers extension elastic energy. Two different contacts, line contact and area contact, are taken into account to discuss the loading and unloading processes in terms of the relation between the force and the displacement. Non-dimensional parameter, which relates to the work of adhesion and the specifications of the elastic beam, is introduced to explain the normalized maximum tensile force.  相似文献

Abstract

Retention characteristics of MFIS (metal-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor) structures have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. The simulated retention characteristics have indicated that reducing current through the ferroelectric layer is very effective to make the retention time long. In order to reduce the current through the ferroelectric layer, an MFIS with an improved ferroelectric layer and an M-I-FIS (metal-insulator-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor) have been investigated theoretically. Both of them have given good retention characteristics. Experimentally, retention characteristics of MFIS have been much improved by annealing, which is considered to suppress the current density in the ferroelectric layer, although those of M-I-FIS have been improved a little.  相似文献

In this paper, it is reported that energy capacitor system (ECS), which combines power electronic devices and electric double‐layer capacitor, can significantly decrease voltage and power fluctuations of grid‐connected fixed‐speed wind generator. The proper selection of wind farm output power reference is still a problem for smoothing the wind farm output power. This paper proposes exponential moving average to generate the reference output power of a grid‐connected wind farm. The objective of the control system is to follow the line power reference by absorbing or providing real power to or from the ECS. Moreover, the necessary reactive power can also be supplied to keep the wind farm terminal voltage at the desired reference level. Real wind speed data were used in the simulation analyses, which validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. Strong demand for improving thermal efficiency of power generation plants promoted the use of high-chromium steels, which have high creep strength and corrosion resistance. Aiming at cost reduction for future nuclear power plants, these materials are also regarded as candidates for structural materials, being favoured for lower thermal expansion rate compared with austenitic stainless steels. In structural design and life management of these plants, failure due to the combination of fatigue and creep damages has been considered as an important phenomenon to be evaluated, in addition to simple creep failure under sustained loading such as inner pressure. The author has been conducting a series of creep-fatigue tests for three types of high-chromium steels used in fossil power plants and the applicability of life prediction methods has been studied. It was found that the time fraction rule gives a relatively small amount of creep damage and overpredicts the failure life, whereas a simple ductility exhaustion method provides very large creep damage which leads to too conservative prediction of failure lives. A modified ductility exhaustion method developed on the re-definition of creep damage as a ductility consumer gave a moderate amount of creep damage and provided reasonable life predictability. Moreover, an empirical formula was derived which can represent the life reduction in compressive hold tests as a function of pure fatigue life and hold time.  相似文献

In the design assessment of fast reactor plant components, prevention of crack initiation from defect-free structures is a main concern. However, existence of initial defects such as weld defects cannot be entirely excluded and this potential cracks are to be evaluated to determine if initiated cracks do not lead to component failure instantly. Therefore, evaluation of structural integrity in the presence of crack-like defects is also important to complement the formal design assessment. The authors have been developing a guideline for assessing long-term structural integrity of fast reactor components using detailed inelastic analysis and nonlinear fracture mechanics. This guideline consists of two parts, evaluation of defect-free structures and flaw evaluation. In the latter, creep-fatigue is considered to be one of the most essential driving force for crack propagation at high operating temperature exceeding 500 °C. The uses of J-integral-type parameters (fatigue J-integral range and creep J-integral) are recommended to describe creep-fatigue crack propagation behavior in the guideline. This paper gives an outline of the simplified evaluation method for creep-fatigue crack propagation.  相似文献

The effect of ratcheting on fatigue strength was investigated in order to rationalize the strain limit as a design criterion of commercialized fast reactor systems. Ratcheting fatigue tests were conducted at 550 °C. Duration of the ratchet straining was set for a certain number of strain cycles taking the loading condition of fast reactors into account, and the number of cycles for strain accumulation was defined as the ratchet-expired cycle. Fatigue lives decrease as the accumulated strain by ratcheting increases. Mean stress increased during the ratcheting cycle and its maximum value depended on the accumulated strain and the ratchet-expired cycle. Fatigue life reduction was negligible when the maximum mean stress was less than 25 MPa, corresponding to an accumulated strain of 2.2%. Accumulated strain is limited to 2% in the present design guidelines and this strain limit is considered effective to avoid reducing fatigue life by ratcheting. Microcrack growth behaviors were also investigated in these tests in order to discuss the life reduction mechanisms in ratcheting conditions.  相似文献

Compatibility of cladding material with lead–bismuth eutectic at temperature higher than 650 °C is one of the most crucial issues for feasibility of lead–bismuth-cooled fast reactors with cycle efficiency as high as 40%. In order to search for corrosion-resistant materials with lead–bismuth eutectic at temperature higher than 650 °C, surface-coated steels, some refractory metals and various ceramics were tested by means of stirred-type corrosion test. Lead–bismuth was heated up to 700 °C electrically in an alumina crucible, and oxygen concentration in the lead–bismuth was adequately controlled by injection of argon, steam and hydrogen gas mixture into the lead–bismuth. Specimens of aluminum–iron-alloy-surface-coated steels, refractory metals and ceramics including SiC/SiC composites were immersed in the stirred lead–bismuth for 1000 h. It was found that the surface-coated steels showed good compatibility with the lead–bismuth due to formation of a thin and stable protection layer on the surfaces. Tungsten and molybdenum exhibited high corrosion resistance. On the other hand, niobium is not a reliable material for the high temperature LBE. SiC and Ti3SiC2 also exhibited high corrosion resistance. On the other hand, the physical performance of the SiC/SiC composite must be improved especially by minimizing the porosity.  相似文献

In Pb–Bi-cooled direct contact boiling water small fast reactor (PBWFR), steam is generated by direct contact of feedwater with primary Pb–Bi coolant above the core, and Pb–Bi coolant is circulated by steam lift pump in chimneys. Safety design has been developed to show safety features of PBWFR. Negative void reactivity is inserted even if whole of the core and upper plenum are voided hypothetically by steam intrusion from above. The control rod ejection due to coolant pressure is prevented using in-vessel type control rod driving mechanism. At coolant leak from reactor vessel and feedwater pipes, Pb–Bi coolant level in the reactor vessel required for decay heat removal is kept using closed guard vessel. Dual pipes for feedwater are employed to avoid leak of water. Although there is no concern of loss of flow accident due to primary pump trip, feedwater pump trip initiates loss of coolant flow (LOF). Injection of high pressure water slows down the flow coast down of feedwater at the LOF event. The unprotected loss of flow and heat sink (ATWS) has been evaluated, which shows that the fuel temperatures are kept lower than the safety limits.  相似文献
