Trapping and recombination of free carriers by deep level T3 has been studied. Occupancy of the level by electrons and dynamics of its filling and emptying as a function of illumination with monoenergetic photons in 0.69–1.55 eV range has been monitored by the thermally stimulated currents method. We have found that level T3 behaves more like a recombination center than like an ordinary electron trap. Besides trapping free electrons from conduction band, this trap can also communicate with valence band, trapping holes. The capture cross section for trapping a hole is estimated to be comparable or even larger than the capture cross section for trapping an electron. However, in many experimental conditions free electrons are generated more abundantly than free holes, and free carrier mobility and thermal velocity are both much higher for electrons than for holes. Therefore, electron trapping often prevails, so that this frequently detected defect, has been up to now most often perceived as a deep electron trap.  相似文献

From the standpoint of applications, melt-processed bulk YBa2Cu3Ox (YBCO) superconductors are of considerable interest. In this paper, we studied the microstructure and levitation force of melt-processed YBCO, YBCO plus Y2BaCuO5, and YBCO+Pt. Large single-crystal samples, grown by a seeding technique, were also studied. The levitation force was highest in melt-processed samples made by the seeding technique.  相似文献

A photonic integrated circuit with an InGaAs/InGaAsP multiple-quantum-well (MQW) traveling-wave optical amplifier and a grating-assisted vertical-coupler filter as a noise filter have been demonstrated. A fiber-to-amplifier/filter gain of ~0.5 dB and a 3-dB filter bandwidth (FWHM) of ~70 Å at 1.56 μm filter center wavelength have been achieved. This photonic circuit is potentially suitable as a building-block for preamplifier lightwave receivers or high-gain, high-power optical amplifiers which are essential for optical communication systems and lightwave networks  相似文献

The correlation properties of extended m-sequences are treated and compared to those of m-sequences. Extended m-sequences are obtained from m-sequences inserting an additional element per period yielding periods 2/sup n/, where n is an integer. It turns out that extended m-sequences provide good autocorrelation but poor crosscorrelation properties. This behaviour is similar to that of m-sequences.<>  相似文献

The design, fabrication, and characterization of thermally excited silicon oxide beam and bridge resonators by a modern industrial CMOS process combined with one additional maskless etching step is reported. The resonant frequencies, vibration amplitudes, and mode shapes of the devices are measured using a laser heterodyne interferometer. The acoustic transmitting and receiving sensitivities of the resonant structures in air are investigated in order to test their possible application as ultrasound transducers for proximity sensing. A shrunken estimator of the Weibull shape parameter for failure censored samples is suggested. This shrunken estimator is compared with shrunken estimators previously given. Even for sample sizes of five and ten this shrunken estimator, based on failure data censored at only three and four, respectively, can be used with advantage when one has a reasonable guess for the shape parameter. A Reed-Solomon code decoding algorithm based on Newton's interpolation is presented. This algorithm has as main application fast generalized-minimum-distance decoding of Reed-Solomon codes. It uses a modified Berlekamp-Massey algorithm to perform all necessary generalized-minimum-distance decoding steps in only one run. With a time-domain form of the new decoder the overall asymptotic generalized-minimum-distance decoding complexity becomes O(dn), with n the length and d the distance of the code (including the calculation of all error locations and values). This asymptotic complexity is optimal. Other applications are the possibility of fast decoding of Reed-Solomon codes with adaptive redundancy and a general parallel decoding algorithm with zero delay  相似文献

A control loop that stabilizes the wavelength of a tunable distributed-Bragg-reflector (DBR) laser is discussed. An in-fiber Bragg grating is used as the wavelength reference. Over a 25-hour period, this control loop held the laser wavelength constant to within 0.022 nm. This variation is traced to the temperature dependence of the in-fiber Bragg grating and can be reduced by controlling the grating's temperature  相似文献

The method of moments (MM) represents a suitable procedure for dealing with electromagnetic scattering problems of arbitrary geometrical shape in the lower frequency range. However, with increasing frequency both computation time and memory requirement often exceed available computer capacities. Therefore a current based hybrid method combining the MM with the physical optics (PO) approximation suitable for three-dimensional perfectly conducting bodies is proposed in this paper. The hybrid formulation allows a substantial reduction of computation time and memory requirement, while the results are in reasonable agreement with those based on an application of the MM alone. Further improvement can be achieved for flat polygonal parts of the scattering body by a heuristic modification of the PO current density taking into account the effects of edges. As opposed to the physical theory of diffraction (PTD), no additional electric and magnetic line currents along the edges are necessary  相似文献

The Internet is expected to support various services, including best-effort services and guaranteed services. For best-effort services, we propose a new approach to achieving type-of-service (TOS) classes with adaptive next-hop routing. We consider two TOS classes, namely, delay-sensitive and throughput-sensitive. As in routing protocols such as OSPF and integrated IS-IS, each node has a different next-hop for each destination and TOS class. Traditionally, a node has a single FCFS queue for each outgoing link, and the next-hops are computed using link measurements. In our approach, we attempt to isolate the two traffic classes by using for each outgoing link a separate FCFS queue for each TOS class; the link is shared cyclicly between its TOS queues. The next-hops for the delay-sensitive traffic adapts to link delays of that traffic. The next-hops for the throughput-sensitive traffic adapts to overall link utilizations. We compare our approach with the traditional approach using discrete-event simulation and Lyapunov analysis (for stability of routes). Our approach offers lower end-to-end delay to the delay-sensitive traffic. A related property is that the routes for the delay-sensitive traffic are more stable, i.e., less oscillations. An unexpected property is that the overall end-to-end delay is lower, because the throughput-sensitive traffic moves away to under-utilized routes  相似文献
