The dependence of the cetane number of hydrotreated light cycle oil on chemical composition has been investigated. Cetane number was related to hydrogen content and aromaticity. The latter was determined by high performance liquid chromatography and also by carbon-13 n.m.r. spectroscopy. Specific correlations were developed in each case and a regression coefficient of 0.99 and a standard error of 1.25 were obtained for the best case. The usefulness of predicting cetane number from fuel composition is discussed. 相似文献

Yeast exo-1,3-β-glucanases are secretable proteins whose function is basically trophic and may also be involved in cell wall glucan hydrolytic processes. Since fluorescein di(β-D -glucopyranoside) is a fluorogenic substrate detectable and quantifiable by flow cytometry, it was used for testing the ability of the EXG1 gene product of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its homologous gene in Candida albicans to function as reporter genes. These open reading frames were coupled to different promoters in multicopy plasmids, and exoglucanase activity quantified at flow cytometry. Exoglucanases were found to be useful tools for the study of promoter regions in S. cerevisiae. This technique has the advantage over other reporter gene systems—such as β-galactosidase fusions—that it does not require permeabilization of yeast cells and therefore it allows the recovery of viable cells—by sorting—after flow cytometry analysis. 相似文献

The extent of the dominant singular field is investigated for a finite crack under stress wave loading. Using a boundary integral equation method the complete solution as well as the near field solution is determined. A comparison of the two fields indicates that the singular field dominates within a small domain at the crack tip. A Monte Carlo simulation method for calculating the probability of soil liquefaction of a finite area in which the ground motion is propagated upward from the bedrock through the soil layers is presented. The vertical propagation of the ground motion through the soil layers is analyzed using random vibration analysis. To account for the variability of soil properties with depth, the soil deposit is divided into layers. Within each layer the horizontal statistical correlation of the undrained cyclic shearing strength against liquefaction is taken into consideration by describing it as a two-dimensional homogeneous random field. The method computes the probability of liquefaction spreading over a specified area under a given earthquake loading considering the effects of spatial correlation of soil properties. 相似文献
