We investigated the relationship between dietary highly hydrogenated soybean oil (HSO) and cholesterol transport in rats.
In the first study, to examine the effects of cholesterol transport of different concentrations of HSO in dietary oil, rats
were given one of the three diets containing 0, 25, or 50% HSO in dietary oil with cholesterol (5 g/kg diet) or a diet without
HSO and cholesterol for 22 d. Feeding the high concentration of HSO prevented the increase in plasma total cholesterol, hepatic
total lipids, and cholesterol and the decrease in high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, which were caused by dietary cholesterol.
Moreover, HSO increased the fecal excretion, fecal lipids, and steroids in a dose-dependent manner. In the second study, to
examine the effects on cholesterol transport of redistribution of stearic acid in the triacylglycerol species contained in
HSO, rats were given one of the six diets containing HSO (distearoylmonoacylglycerol and tristearoylglycerol)-rich, monostearoylglycerol-rich,
or palmitic acid-rich oil with/without cholesterol (5 g/kg diet), for 30 d. Whereas the accumulation of cholesterol in the
body was reduced, cholesterol excretion was enhanced effectively in rats given the HSO-rich diet compared with rats given
the monostearoylglycerol-rich diet. These results suggested that not only the high concentration of stearic acid but also
its uneven distribution in HSO-triacylglycerol contributed to the reduction in intestinal cholesterol absorption in rats. 相似文献

Therapeutic vascular catheterization techniques are sometimes hampered by the frictional forces between the blood vessel and the catheter, when contact points of the vessel are changing and deforming during the movement of the catheter. The goal of the present study was to characterize frictional interactions between the blood vessel wall and the catheter using experimental and numerical analysis. First, the frictional force was measured with an experimental apparatus that uses a ball and flattened porcine aorta to simulate frictional forces between the catheter and the vessel. Second, catheter motion was characterized by two-dimensional numerical calculations based on the experimental results. Experimental analysis demonstrated that slip occurred and that friction coefficient between the vessel and the catheter and the deformation of the specimen were small when the contact between the ball and the aorta occurred at a small angle. The compliance of the specimen in the normal direction obtained by the experiment was by far larger than that calculated according to the Hertzian contact theory. Numerical analysis shows that this difference of the parameter of the vessel, which must be determined accurately in surgical simulator, could affect the trajectory of the catheter. 相似文献

Plasma surface treatments have been used very often to enhance the surface properties of metallic materials. In this work, Ti6Al4V titanium alloy was treated by nitrogen plasma immersion ion implantation (NPIII) in order to obtain improvements in its surface properties, such as corrosion resistance evaluated here. The microstructure and corrosion behavior of the implanted and unimplanted samples were evaluated, using, XRD, GDOES and potentiodynamic polarization and impedance electrochemical spectroscopy tests in 0.6 M NaCl solution. It was verified that the NPIII created resistant layers to corrosive attacks. In corrosion tests by polarization, the implanted samples showed corrosion current density reduction of about 10 times compared to the Ti6Al4V alloy without treatment. Besides that, it was also observed a reduction of the passive current density of one order of the magnitude. In all the studied cases, the polarization curves were shifted to more positive values of potentials, indicating a lower tendency of these PIII treated surfaces to corrosion. The implantation process produced a thin TiN surface layer followed by Ti2N and then a layer with nitrogen in solid solution, all detected by GDOES combined with X-ray diffraction. These layers promoted an excellent polarization resistance of the Ti6Al4V surfaces on impedance spectroscopy tests also. This better performance in these tests can be correlated with the formation of continuous nitride layer, which could retard chloride ions ingress into the substrate. 相似文献

A technique to determine a trace amount of hydrogen in carbon materials heat-treated above 1000 °C was developed. Three types of carbons prepared from poly(furfulyl alcohol), poly(vinyl chloride) and mesophase carbon microbeads were heat-treated at various temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1800 °C. Then they were gasified by O2 in a fixed bed flow reactor, and the H2O gases formed during the gasification processes were carefully monitored with a Karl Fischer moisture analyzer. As a result, this method makes it possible to determine the hydrogen contents in the carbons down to three places of decimals as a weight percent and can detect even a trace amount of hydrogen as low as 0.002 wt.%. A possible chemical structure of carbon edge sites was also discussed based on the experimentally determined hydrogen contents. 相似文献

We develop an approach to robustness analysis of circadian rhythms from the viewpoints of (local) robust stability of periodic trajectories and their period‐sensitivity, based on mathematical models. Our attention is directed to the core molecular model generating circadian rhythms in Drosophila, proposed by Goldbeter [1], for our approach to be illustrated. We consider two cases when the circadian rhythms are subjected to periodic forcing by light/dark (LD) cycles and when the circadian rhythms are under continuous darkness (DD). First, we propose conditions/algorithms for (local) robust stability, and show that the circadian rhythms generated by the core molecular model are (locally) robustly stable, in both LD and DD cases. Second, in DD case, we derive a formula of period sensitivity, and assess effects of (infinitesimal) parameter‐variations on the period of the circadian rhythms. 相似文献

An all-optical 3R regenerator with a combination of self-phase modulation (SPM) and cross-absorption modulation (XAM) effects is proposed and investigated. Principle performances of the proposed all-optical 3R regenerator were experimentally investigated at a signal bit rate of 40 Gb/s. The all-optical 3R regenerator, which is located at the midpoint of a 1080-km transmission line, successfully provided an approximately 3-dB improvement of the Q-factor both just after regeneration and after totally 1080-km transmission. The chromatic dispersion tolerance of the proposed 3R regenerator was also investigated and successfully enhanced to about twice as wide by introducing a predistortion block configuration including a highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF). It was confirmed that the proposed all-optical 3R regenerator can become one of the strong candidates for the actual deployment of the all-optical network. 相似文献

To establish an in vivo experimental system for developmental endocrinology research, AtT-20 cells, a corticotropic tumor cell line, were transplanted by exo utero manipulation into mouse embryos on embryonic day 14. The induced tumor secreted ACTH in situ, and the circulating ACTH level was elevated. This was the first model for studying the regulation of ACTH in the mouse fetal adrenal in vivo and the first continuous ACTH treatment model in rodent fetuses. The changes in the adrenal gland from the tumor-induced embryos were analyzed by light microscopic morphometry, immunohistochemistry for steroidogenic enzymes, and electron microscopy. In the treated adrenal, the volume of the inner cortical zone was significantly larger than that in controls. In the inner zone, cell density was decreased, and average cell size was increased, whereas bromodeoxyuridine-incorporation was not increased. The enlarged inner zone cells expressed an enhanced level of cytochrome P45011beta, the corticosterone-synthesizing enzyme, and the serum corticosterone level was increased. Electron microscopy showed an active form of the organelles involved in steroidogenesis. These findings indicate that ACTH stimulates both adrenocortical hypertrophy and steroidogenesis in fetal mice. Potential perspectives of the novel paradigm in this research for molecular developmental endocrine study are discussed. 相似文献

In previous studies, various stabilizing control methods for humanoids during the stance phase while hopping and running were proposed. Although these methods contribute to stability while hopping and running, it is possibility that the control during the flight phase could also affect the stability. In this study, we investigated whether the control during the flight phase can affect the stability of a humanoid while running. To achieve stable hopping, we developed a control system that accounts for the angular momentum of the whole body during the flight phase. In this system, the angular momentum generated by the motion of the lower body in each time interval is calculated during the flight phase, and the trunk joints are controlled to generate the angular momentum necessary to compensate for the deviation of the waist posture, which is used as the reference point for the motion coordinate system of the robot. Once the proposed control system was developed and simulated, we found that the hopping duration in the unconstrained state was extended. 相似文献
