Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized from fine three-layered copolymer microspheres using the polymer blend technique. Diameter of PMMA core/Poly(AN-co-MMA) shell-1/PMMA shell-2 microspheres, prepared by a radical soap-free emulsion polymerization of methylmethacrylate (MMA) and acrylonitrile (AN), was between 400 nm and 500 nm. Microspheres were subjected to melt-spinning at 305 °C, stabilizing in oxygen at 220 °C for 4 h, and finally carbonizing at 1000 °C for 30 min. FE-SEM study of carbonized sample revealed the presence of CNTs arrays on carbon blocks. Similar arrays were observed in a comparative CNTs sample prepared from three-layered microspheres with the pure PAN shells-1 layers. HRTEM showed that the CNTs derived from copolymer microspheres had different structure when compared to the control sample, i.e. CNTs often adhered to each other and contained the internal compartments. The insufficient PMMA shell-2 coating of copolymer microspheres is believed to be a reason for CNTs adhesion. Composites consisting of ruthenium oxide particles deposited on amorphous carbon nanofibres are prepared by a repetitive impregnation procedure. The choice of amorphous carbon nanofibres as support of amorphous ruthenium oxide leads to composites in which the deposited oxide consists of aggregates of extremely small primary particles (1–1.5 nm-size) and showing high porosity (specific surface area of 450 m2 g−1). This special deposition of the oxide seems to favour: (i) high oxide capacitance (1000 Fg−1) at high oxide loadings (up to 20 wt%) and (ii) high capacitance retention (ca. 80% from the initial oxide capacitance) at high current densities (200 mA cm−2). Amorphous carbon nanofibres are suitable supports for amorphous ruthenium oxide and perhaps for other amorphous oxides acting as active electrode materials. 相似文献

In this study, acrylamide (AAm) was grafted onto poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) in solution with UV radiation, and membranes were prepared from the graft copolymer (PVA‐g‐AAm) for transdermal release of salicylic acid (SA) at in vitro conditions. Permeation studies were carried out using a Franz‐type diffusion cell. Release characteristics of SA through PVA and PVA‐g‐AAm membranes were studied using 2.0 mg/mL SA solutions. Effects of the presence of AAm in the copolymer, pH of donor and acceptor solution, and concentration of SA and temperature on the release of SA were investigated. Permeation of SA through the membranes was found to be pH‐dependent, and increase in pH generally increased the release percentage of SA, and the presence of AAm in the membrane positively affected the permeation. The effect of concentrations of SA on the permeation was also searched using saturated solution of SA, and permeated amount of SA was found to be less than in the case of unsaturated SA solution. Studies showed that the release of SA from PVA‐g‐AAm membranes was temperature‐sensitive and increase in temperature increased the permeation rate. 82.76% (w/w) SA was released at the end of 24 h at (39 ± 1)°C, and the overall activation energy for the permeation of SA through PVA‐g‐AAm membranes was found to be 19.65 kJ/mol. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Graft-copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm) on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films using benzoyl peroxide (Bz2O2) initiator has been studied. Four organic solvents, namely, pyridine (Py), 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), DEC/H2O (20/80, v/v), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), were used as swelling agents. DMSO was found to be the most suitable swelling agent. Solvent inclusion in the films increased with increased length of solvent treatment time and temperature. Elevated temperatures had a greater effect on the inclusion of swelling agents than did the length of swelling. Variation of graft yield with the type of solvent, initiator concentration, monomer concentration, temperature, and polymerization time were also investigated. The graft yield increased in the order of toluene, benzene, DMSO. The optimum temperature for grafting was found to be 70°C. The graft yield was observed to increase with monomer concentration and polymerization time, then reached a plateau. An exclusively binarized method for the correlation calculation of image processing is presented with application to velocity measurements. The exclusively binarized correlation-calculation method is capable of determining the peak position of the correlation even with a small number of random-pattern images. Because the velocity is deduced from the movement of the correlation-peak position within a time interval, the method is suitable for the velocity measurement of random patterns. The method is applied to the measurement of the upper-atmospheric wind velocity by use of stellar scintillation patterns. 相似文献

Batch supercritical antisolvent precipitation (SAS) process was used to coprecipitate Cefuroxime Axetil amorphous (CFA, antibiotic) and Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-K30) for preparing drug-polymer composite particles. Solutions of CFA and PVP-K30 in methanol with overall concentrations of 50-150 mg/ml and polymer/drug ratios of 1/1-4/1 were sprayed into the CO2 at 70-200 bar and 35-50 °C with drug + polymer solution injection rates of 0.85 and 2.5 ml/min. Spherical particles having mean diameters of 1.88-3.97 μm, distribution ranges of 0.82-9.7 μm (the narrowest distribution) and 0.91-46.64 μm (the broadest distribution) were obtained. Mean particle size was not affected significantly with the change of process parameters. It was only affected by pressure change. On the other hand particle size distribution was affected by pressure, temperature, drug + polymer solution injection rate and concentration. It was observed that temperature and polymer/drug ratio affected the particle morphology most. The drug release rate of SAS-coprecipitated CFA-PVP (1/1) particles was almost 10 times slower than the drug alone. Recent studies have shown that people prefer to age in their familiar environments, thus guiding designers to provide a safe and functionally appropriate environment for ageing people, regardless of their physical conditions or limitations. Therefore, a participatory design model is proposed where human beings can improve their quality of life by promoting independence, as well as safety, useability and attractiveness of the residence. Brainstorming, scenario building, unstructured interviews, sketching and videotaping are used as techniques in the participatory design sessions. Quality deployment matrices are employed to find the relationships between the elderly user's requirements and design specifications. This paper deals with a design problem of robust non-fragile stabilizing controllers for a class of uncertain linear continuous-time systems. The proposed design approach of robust non-fragile controllers is based on computation of the trajectory for the uncertain linear system and differs from the existing methods based on quadratic stabilization via Lyapunov criterion. In this paper, we show that sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability of the linear system with uncertainties and controller gain variations, and a LMI-based design algorithm of a robust non-fragile controller. Furthermore, we extend the result to the design problem of decentralized robust non-fragile controllers for a class of uncertain large-scale interconnected systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design scheme of robust non-fragile controllers is shown through illustrative examples. 相似文献

This paper explores theoretical issues in ergonomics related to semantics and the emotional content of design. The aim is to find answers to the following questions: how to design products triggering "happiness" in one's mind; which product attributes help in the communication of positive emotions; and finally, how to evoke such emotions through a product. In other words, this is an investigation of the "meaning" that could be designed into a product in order to "communicate" with the user at an emotional level. A literature survey of recent design trends, based on selected examples of product designs and semantic applications to design, including the results of recent design awards, was carried out in order to determine the common attributes of their design language. A review of Good Design Award winning products that are said to convey and/or evoke emotions in the users has been done in order to define good design criteria. This paper deals with a motion control system for a space robot with a manipulator. Many motion controllers require the positions of the robot body and the manipulator hand with respect to an inertial coordinate system. In order to measure them, a visual sensor using a camera is frequently used. However, there are two difficulties in measuring them by means of a camera. The first one is that a camera is mounted on the robot body, and hence it is difficult to directly measure the position of the robot body by means of it. The second one is that the sampling period of a vision system with a general-purpose camera is much longer than that of a general servo system. In this paper, we develop an adaptive state observer that overcomes the two difficulties. In order to investigate its performance, we design a motion control system that is constructed by combining the observer with a PD control input, and then conduct numerical simulations for the control system.
