The problem of unsteady, incompressible viscous flow between two rotating concentric spheres has been investigated here. The full Navier-Stokes equations in terms of the velocity components u, v w and the pressure p, using spherical coordinates for axially symmetric flow, were solved by means of the finite element method in the spatial dimension and the alternating-direction method in the time dimension using Glowinski's algorithm. The element used is an annular-sector-type element with a bilinear approximation for the velocity components and with constant pressure within the element. Reynolds numbers in the range from 1 to 1000, gap size 0.5 and different combinations of the angular velocity of the inner and outer spheres were studied. In some of these cases a steady-state solution was possible, while in others only a transient solution was possible. This method proved to be successful and powerful in predicting the behavior of the flow for these nonlinear-type problems.  相似文献

The use of heat pump tumble dryers is nowadays more common because they offer huge energy savings compared to conventional tumble dryers. Earlier studies made on conventional tumble dryers have shown that parameters such as heater power, fan speed, drum speed, weight and initial moisture content of textiles and air leakage have a huge impact on the energy efficiency and drying time. In the present study, a modified commercial heat pump tumble dryer was evaluated for energy consumption and drying time by changing operating parameters including fan speed, drum speed, and mass load. The total energy consumption and drying time were measured and corrected for the initial and final moisture content in the textiles. The experimental results based on 27 drying tests were evaluated to develop linear regression models for energy consumption and drying time, which show a good agreement with the experimental data. The results show that a large mass load, a high drum speed, and a low fan speed give the highest energy efficiency, i.e. the lowest energy consumption per kg of drying load. Larger loads extend the length of the drying cycle while higher fan and drum speeds result in shorter drying time.  相似文献

Bond failures at the acrylic teeth and denture base resin interface are still a common clinical problem in prosthodontics. The effect of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer on the bond strength of three types of denture base resins (Acron MC, Lucitone 550 and QC-20) to two types of acrylic teeth (Biotone and Trilux) was evaluated. Twenty specimens were produced for each denture base resin/acrylic tooth combination and were randomly divided into control (acrylic teeth received no surface treatment) and experimental groups (MMA was applied to the surface of the acrylic teeth for 180 s) and were submitted to shear tests (1 mm/min). Data (MPa) were analyzed using three-way ANOVA/Student's test (α=0.05). MMA increased the bond strength of Lucitone denture base resins and decreased the bond strength of QC-20. No difference was detected for the bond strength of Acron MC base resin after treatment with MMA.  相似文献

This study examines how the inlet air temperature, relative humidity, and flow rate influence the textile drying process in an open cycle tumble dryer. An experimental setup was prepared by connecting a domestic tumble dryer to an external system for controlled heating, humidification, and transport of air. Experiments were conducted by drying cotton textiles (8?kg dry mass) at different air inlet conditions. On the basis of measured data, correlations for determination of the total drying time, the moisture evaporation rate during the constant drying rate, and the area-mass transfer coefficient were developed. The process in the drum was modeled by using an established moisture evaporation model, based on sorption isotherms. A commonly used and a recently reported sorption isotherm for cotton were used with the model. Agreement between calculated and measured drying curves was better in case of the commonly used sorption isotherm, but final moisture content was better predicted by the recently reported sorption isotherm.  相似文献

Software defined networking (SDN) and its most popular southbound implementation OpenFlow (OF) are already greatly exploited in the existing mobile cellular networks as part of data centers and mobile core networks. Due to user’s mobility, it is of upmost importance for the operators to provide the shortest possible interruption when the mobile users are performing the procedure of handover. In this work, we proposed a novel analytical approach to model the OF-related handover messages exchanged between the OF-switches and the SDN controller. We modeled two different OF-switch implementations and we compared the results: (1) single shared buffer used for the control and data plane; (2) two priority buffers, where the data plane packets are served only when there are no packets to be processed in the control plane. We numerically evaluated the two systems and we validated the model by using simulations. The obtained results clearly point that although the priority buffering increased the complexity, it effectively provided the shortest handover delay. Therefore, the priority buffering should be the preferred mechanism for mobile networks.
