PARAMAGNETIC MEISSNER EFFECTS IN MELT-TEXTURED Y_(0.99)Nd_(0.01)Ba_2Cu_3O_(7-y)SUPERCONDUCTOR

The paramagnetic Meissner effect (PME) was observed on the field-cooled M-T curvesof melt-textured Y0.99Nd0.01Ba2Cu3O7-y in applied magnetic fields from 1kOe toJ0kOe. In the magnetic field below 1kOe, the sample undergoes the typical transi-tion from the normal state to the superconducting state when it was cooled down. Theapplied magnetic fields in which the PME occurs, are very high compared with thefields reported in literatures. We propose that the occurrence of the PME may be dueto a phase transition of flux vortices in the superconductors.

异丁烯两段催化氧化制甲基丙烯酸催化剂研究 Ⅰ．异丁烯气相氧化制甲基丙烯醛多元复合氧化物催化剂的研究

本文报导用于异丁烯（叔丁醇）选择氧化制ＭＡＬ（甲基丙烯醛）的多元复合氧化物催化剂的研究结果。同共沉淀法制备的催化剂的活性主要决定于其化学组成，同时受到制备条件的影响。最佳催化剂的主要物相组成为ＰｂＯ３，Ｂｉ２ＭｏＯ３．３、ＮｉＭｏＯ４、Ｓｂ２Ｏ３及ａ－Ｆｅ２Ｏ３小颗粒。在３５５℃，１０００～２５００ｈ－１空速范围，叔丁醇：水：空气＝１：３．３：７（摩尔比）的条件下可获得异丁烯转化率达９６％，ＭＡＬ选择性达８９％的结果。

Seasonal evolution of the interannual variability of chlorophyll-a concentration and its forcing factors in the northwestern Pacific from 1998 to 2010

The northwestern Pacific Ocean is a complex region with significant biological spatial variations on a seasonal timescale. To investigate the joint variation patterns on both seasonal and interannual timescales, a season-reliant empirical orthogonal function (S-EOF) analysis was applied to seasonal mean chlorophyll-a concentration (chl-a) anomalies in the northwestern Pacific Ocean during the period 1998–2010. The first two dominant modes accounted for nearly 31% of the total interannual variance, with the second S-EOF mode (S-EOF2) lagging behind the first S-EOF mode (S-EOF1) by one year. S-EOF1 featured a strong variation pattern to the north of 30° N, with maximum chl-a in winter and minimum chl-a in summer. However, S-EOF2 indicated an opposite seasonally evolving pattern compared with S-EOF1, with chl-a increasing along the Kuroshio and extension current from boreal winter to autumn. Both these modes revealed significant relationships with climate-related indices. The two modes corresponded to the central Pacific (CP) La Niña developing episodes and the turnaround from eastern Pacific (EP) La Niña to CP El Niño, respectively. Both modes were associated with the cold phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, which played an important role in prolonging the impact of the El Niño/Southern Oscillation on chl-a seasonal evolution from 1998 to 2010. In addition, we discuss the possible factors dominating chl-a seasonal variation, in terms of the subregions of the northwestern Pacific Ocean. In the subtropical northwestern Pacific Ocean (15° N – 30° N), the chl-a growth was primarily nutrient-limited, whereas in the mid-latitude northwestern Pacific Ocean (35° N – 50° N), the chl-a growth was mainly light-limited.

Engineering all-aromatic polyamide surface from hydrophilic to superhydrophobic and the accelerated strategy

Being a new kind of nanomaterials, aromatic polyamide nanofibers (ANF) have been much highlighted in recent studies. We here demonstrate an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) accelerated chemical cleavage on poly (p-phenylene terephthalamide) chopped fibers, which provides an efficient preparation method of ANF. The comprehensive study on the processes accelerated by different alcohols revealed that the preparation time of ANF in the mixed medium of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)-alcohol (20:1 in volume) was shorten to 45 min and 75 min for methanol (ethanol) and isopropanol, respectively. However, the nanofibers prepared in DMSO-IPA exhibited the minimum in axial and radial dimensions, providing the finest and most uniform diameter of 16 nm. The corresponding ANF films through vacuum assisted filtration also showed the highest tensile strength of 150 MPa, in comparison with those of the ANF films prepared using other alcohols, which were about 110 MPa. Furthermore, ANF/silicon hybrid films were prepared by the ionic ring-opening reaction followed by the alkoxysilane condensation and nanoparticle fabrication. By changing the organo functional groups in the alkoxysilane, the surface of the films were adjustable in a wide contact angle range from 56° (hydrophilic) to 150° (superhydrophobic), suggesting the amendable interfacial properties potential applicable to composite fabrication with most of the resin matrix.
