4H–SiC BJTs with a common emitter current gain of 110 have been demonstrated. The high current gain was attributed to a thin base of 0.25 μm which reduces the carrier recombination in the base region. The device open base breakdown voltage (BVCEO) of 270 V was much less than the open emitter breakdown voltage (BVCBO) of 1560 V due to the emitter leakage current multiplication from the high current gain by “transistor action” of BJTs. The device has shown minimal gain degradation after electrical stress at high current density of >200 A/cm2up to 25 h.  相似文献

Eugenol is the principle chemical constituent of clove oil and has been used to cure dental problems for ages. Eugenol is an integral part of the dentist's kit due to its analgesic, local anesthetic, anti-;inflammatory, and antibacterial effects. It is used in the form of a paste or mixture as dental cement, filler, and restorative material. This study reports the development and evaluation of controlled-release mucoadhesive tablets for gingival application, containing eugenol, which are prepared by taking carbopol 934 P and Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) K4M in the ratio of 1:2, 1:1, and 2:1. Incorporation of eugenol (10 mg) in a mucoadhesive formulation provides controlled release for a period of 8 hours, which is advantageous over conventional use. In vitro mucoadhesion measured as detachment force in grams and the formulations show good correlation in vivo. The release study indicates that increase in carbopol increases the release rate of eugenol from the formulation whereas HPMC retards it. Increased in vitro bioadhesion is related to HPMC content of the formulation. The release kinetics of eugenol in vitro correlates with the in vivo results. This indicates the increased potential of eugenol as antibacterial, local analgesic, and anaesthetic treatment.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to investigate the glass forming capability of a model drug simvastatin. The glassy material produced by melt quench technique was subjected to physico-chemical characterization and subsequent stability and enthalpy relaxation study. The chemical stability of drug during preparation of glass was tested by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The presence of amorphous form was confirmed by DSC and XRPD. Surprisingly, glassy simvastatin was almost stable throughout the period of stability, inspite of its Tg being relatively low. The stability and very low enthalpy recovery of glassy simvastatin perhaps could be attributed to strong inter-molecular hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel medium access control (MAC) protocol, called SYN-MAC (for SYNchronized MAC), based on a binary countdown approach tailored for wireless networks. SYN-MAC has several attractive features such as simplicity, robustness, high efficiency, fairness, and quality of service capability. We evaluate SYN-MAC in terms of collision probability, system throughput, and packet delay, via both analysis and simulation. Our results show that, with properly chosen parameters, SYN-MAC can achieve a very low collision probability, packet delay tolerance, and extremely high channel efficiency (of > 90%) under a wide range of traffic load. As a result, SYN-MAC may serve as an alternative to IEEE 802.11 for the wireless stations in synchronized networks. This work is supported in part by National Science Foundation CAREER Award under Award Number CNS-0347686, by U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) under Award Number DE-FG02-04ER46136, and by Board of Regents, State of Louisiana under Contract Number No. DOE/LEQSF(2004-07)-ULL and LEQSF(2003-06)-RD-A-37. Prostatic adenocarcinoma is the most commonly occurring cancer among men in the United States, second only to skin cancer. Currently, the only definitive method to ascertain the presence of prostatic cancer is by trans-rectal ultrasound (TRUS) directed biopsy. Owing to the poor image quality of ultrasound, the accuracy of TRUS is only 20%-25%. High-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been shown to have a higher accuracy of prostate cancer detection compared to ultrasound. Consequently, several researchers have been exploring the use of high resolution MRI in performing prostate biopsies. Visual detection of prostate cancer, however, continues to be difficult owing to its apparent lack of shape, and the fact that several malignant and benign structures have overlapping intensity and texture characteristics. In this paper, we present a fully automated computer-aided detection (CAD) system for detecting prostatic adenocarcinoma from 4 Tesla ex vivo magnetic resonance (MR) imagery of the prostate. After the acquired MR images have been corrected for background inhomogeneity and nonstandardness, novel three-dimensional (3-D) texture features are extracted from the 3-D MRI scene. A Bayesian classifier then assigns each image voxel a "likelihood" of malignancy for each feature independently. The "likelihood" images generated in this fashion are then combined using an optimally weighted feature combination scheme. Quantitative evaluation was performed by comparing the CAD results with the manually ascertained ground truth for the tumor on the MRI. The tumor labels on the MR slices were determined manually by an expert by visually registering the MR slices with the corresponding regions on the histology slices. We evaluated our CAD system on a total of 33 two-dimensional (2-D) MR slices from five different 3-D MR prostate studies. Five slices from two different glands were used for training. Our feature combination scheme was found to outperform the individual texture features, and also other popularly used feature combination methods, including AdaBoost, ensemble averaging, and majority voting. Further, in several instances our CAD system performed better than the experts in terms of accuracy, the expert segmentations being determined solely from visual inspection of the MRI data. In addition, the intrasystem variability (changes in CAD accuracy with changes in values of system parameters) was significantly lower than the corresponding intraobserver and interobserver variability. CAD performance was found to be very similar for different training sets. Future work will focus on extending the methodology to guide high-resolution MRI-assisted in vivo prostate biopsies.  相似文献

A 110 kDa (ca. 5 nm in diameter) bivalent paramagnetic nanoprobe for detecting cell death using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is described, in which two biotinylated C2A domains of the protein synaptotagmin-I were complexed with a single avidin molecule, which had been labeled with gadolinium chelates. This nanoprobe bound with high affinity and specificity to the phosphatidylserine exposed by dying cells and was demonstrated to allow MRI detection of apoptotic tumor cells in vitro.  相似文献

Latent heat thermal energy storage is one of the most efficient ways to store thermal energy for heating water by energy received from sun. This paper summarizes the investigation and analysis of thermal energy storage incorporating with and without PCM for use in solar water heaters. The relative studies are classified on the basis of type of collector and the type of storage used i.e. sensible or latent. A thorough literature investigation into the use of phase change material (PCM) in solar water heating has been considered. It has been demonstrated that for a better thermal performance of solar water heater a phase change material with high latent heat and with large surface area for heat transfer is required.  相似文献

Alpha‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) production, using cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase (CGTase) from Klebsiella pneumoniae AS‐22, was investigated in the presence of various complexing agents using raw wheat starch and dextrin as substrates. The addition of many alcohols resulted in increased conversion of both raw wheat starch and dextrin to α‐CD. With 125 g/L raw wheat starch, 42.5% (w/w) conversion to CDs was obtained in the presence of 2% (v/v) butan‐1‐ol. The ratio of α:β‐CD formed was 97:3, with negligible formation of γ‐CD and malto‐oligosaccharides. The production of α‐CD was optimized using two‐level factorial designs in three variables: dextrin, hexan‐1‐ol and enzyme concentrations. Under optimum conditions, 12.1% (w/w) conversion of 500 g/L dextrin to total‐CDs was achieved. The ratio of α:β:γ‐CD formed was 91:3:6, with negligible production of malto‐oligosaccharides. This CGTase was strongly inhibited by α:‐CD; 50% inhibition of reaction rate was observed at an initial concentration of 4 g/L α:‐CD. The effectiveness of an ultrafiltration membrane bioreactor for continuous removal of product was also tested.  相似文献
