Object

The EU directive on safety requirements (2004/40/EC) limits the exposure to time varying magnetic fields to dB /dt = 200 mT/s. This action value is not clearly defined as it considers only the temporal change of the magnitude of ${\vec {B}}$ . Thus, only the translational motion in the magnet??s fringe field is considered and rotations are neglected.

Materials and methods

A magnetic field probe was constructed to simultaneously record the magnetic flux density ${\vec{B}}$ (x, y, z) with a 3-axis Hall sensor and the induced voltage due to movements with a set of three orthogonal coils. Voltages were converted into time-varying magnetic flux d ??(x, y, z)/dt serving as an exposition parameter for both translations and rotations. To separate the two types of motion, d B/dt was additionally calculated on the basis of the Hall sensor??s data. The calibrated probe was attached to the forehead of 8 healthcare workers and 17 MR physicists, and ${\vec {B}}$ and d??/dt were recorded during standard operating procedures at three different MR systems up to 7 T.

Results

The maximum percentage of the translational motion referring the data including both translations and rotations amounts to 32%. During volunteer measurements, maximum exposure values of d??/dt = 21 mWb/s, dB/dt = 1.40 T/s and ${\left| {\vec {B}}\right|= 2.75}$ Twere found.

Conclusion

The findings in this work indicate that both translations and rotations in the vicinity of an MR system should be taken into account, and that a single regulatory action level might not be sufficient.  相似文献

In this paper we have a closer look at one of the rules of the tableau calculus presented by Fitting [4], called the -rule. We prove that a modification of this rule, called the +-rule, which uses fewer free variables, is also sound and complete. We examine the relationship between the +-rule and variations of the -rule presented by Smullyan [9]. This leads to a second proof of the soundness of the +-rule. An example shows the relevance of this modification for building tableau-based theorem provers.  相似文献

With Ansoff’s article about weak signals as a flagship example, a substantial body of knowledge about environmental scanning systems exists. However, these concepts often go unused in practice. The 2008/2009 economic crisis provided a strong, ongoing impulse for redesigning such information systems (IS). This article develops six guidelines for the conceptual design of environmental scanning systems that are more applicable than those specified by previous research. We start with literature research, which reveals three gaps in existing approaches. Then we develop design guidelines to fill these gaps with the help of “modern” IS. To address the lack of sound requirements analysis, our first design principle proposes 360-degree environmental scanning systems for executives and suggests how to select the most important scanning areas. Three further findings cover weaknesses in the IS model perspective, focusing on more effective implications of weak signals. In terms of method, we propose incorporating scanning results more closely into executives’ decision-making processes. Applying the design guidelines at a raw materials and engineering company, we arrive at a prototype we call the “corporate radar.” It includes an IS-based tree with economic value added at risk on top. The resulting lessons learned help to evaluate our findings and the research method presented here, as well provide concrete starting points for future research.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a novel framework for low-level image processing and analysis. First, we process images with very simple, difference-based filter functions. Second, we fit the 2-parameter Weibull distribution to the filtered output. This maps each image to the 2D Weibull manifold. Third, we exploit the information geometry of this manifold and solve low-level image processing tasks as minimisation problems on point sets. For a proof-of-concept example, we examine the image autofocusing task. We propose appropriate cost functions together with a simple implicitly-constrained manifold optimisation algorithm and show that our framework compares very favourably against common autofocus methods from literature. In particular, our approach exhibits the best overall performance in terms of combined speed and accuracy.  相似文献

Distance learning is expanding rapidly, fueled by the novel technologies for shared recorded teaching sessions on the Web. Here, we ask whether 3D stereoscopic (3DS) virtual learning environment teaching sessions are more compelling than typical two‐dimensional (2D) video sessions and whether this type of teaching results in superior learning. The research goal was to compare learning in 2 virtual learning scenarios—on 2D displays and with an identical 3DS scenario. Participants watched a 2D or 3DS video of an instructor demonstrating a box origami paper‐folding task. We compared participants' folding test scores and self‐assessment questionnaires of the teaching scenarios and calculated their cognitive load index (CLI) based on electroencephalogram measurements during the observation periods. Results showed a highly significant difference between participants' folding test scores, CLI, and self‐assessment questionnaire results in 2D compared to 3DS sessions. Our findings indicate that employing stereoscopic 3D technology over 2D displays in the design of emerging virtual and augmented reality applications in distance learning has advantages.  相似文献

The forging process – originating empirically – can nowadays be understood with the aid of a series of theoretical approaches within the field of metalforming technology. The classic methods (chiefly slip lines) have contributed to fundamental knowledge of the process. Parameters like force and energy requirement, performance and deformation resistance can be determined with sufficient accuracy by these means. Quantitative analyses of localised processes are, however, possible only with the aid of FE methods, though satisfactory solutions have not yet been found to the problems of applying 3 D FEM and taking into account the real boundary conditions.  相似文献
