A new calixarene-based donor-acceptor system, cone conformer 1, was prepared for the first time. In this compound, the calix[4]arene serves to juxtapose a tri-chloroquinone acceptor near the porphyrin photo-donor plane. As to the conformational control, the cone conformer 1 gave two peaks of phenolic OH groups at 8.40 and 8.43 ppm. This shows that cone conformer 1 is stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The fluorescence intensity of 1 was 35% of that for the control compound 2. This means the tri-chloroquinone group in 1 efficiently quenched the fluorescence of ZnP*. The shortest edge-to-edge separation of the chromophores of 1 is ca. 8 A (as judged by CPK models). This provides a new calixarene-based supramolecular system in which through-space donor-to-acceptor electron transfer is observed upon photoexcitation. 相似文献

Poly(vinyl alcohol) was crystallized from its aqueous solution under a steady-state flow with different conditions. Using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), the thermal properties of PVA precipitates obtained by the flow-induced crystallization were measured, showing a single melting peak in the DSC curve. The melting temperature of PVA crystallized depended on the rate of stirring, crystallization temperature, concentration of PVA, yield of precipitates, and morphology of the crystals. Particularly, there was a closer relationship between the melting temperature and the yield of precipitates, i.e., it was through the effect on the yield of precipitates that crystallization conditions influenced the melting temperature. Generally, with certain conditions, the higher the yield of precipitates, the lower the melting temperature. Moreover, using electron microscopy, it was observed that there were some structural differences between the inner and outer sides of a PVA crystal mat round stirrer and between film-shaped and block-shaped crystals, leading to different melting temperatures. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A numerical study on heat and mass transfer in an annular adsorbent bed filled with adsorbent granules for an isobaric adsorption process is performed. In order to reduce the number of independent parameters that influences heat and mass transfer in the bed, the governing equations and related initial and boundary conditions for the problem are non-dimensionalized and this yields two dimensionless parameters as G and Γ. The G dimensionless parameter is the ratio of heat of adsorption to sensible heat stored by adsorbent particle and Γ parameter compares mass diffusion within the adsorbent particle and heat diffusion in the radial direction of the adsorbent bed. The obtained results show that the total dimensionless time for an adsorption process can be reduced by increasing of Γ value. The total dimensionless time is independent from G for low values of Γ (i.e. Γ = 10− 5). The results also show that the instantaneous equilibrium model can provide accurate results only for an adsorbent bed with a low value of Γ (i.e. Γ = 10− 5). A simple and mild synthetic route via a hydrothermal treatment of Mg2TiO4 has been developed to prepare brookite-type TiO2. The hydrothermal conversion of Mg2TiO4 to brookite proceeded in 1 M HCl solution even at 100 °C. The converted brookite grains were composed of the angular particles covered on the textured surface, leaving the original morphology of Mg2TiO4 grains. Compared with the commercially available TiO2 catalysts (rutile, anatase, and P25), the brookite obtained in this study showed a good photocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde under a simulated sunlight irradiation. 相似文献

Composites of serpentine and polypropylene (PP) were prepared by twin‐screw extrusion. Serpentine was collected as rocks from the Ankara–Beynam region and ground into powder with an average particle size of about 3 μm for composite production. Both as‐received (rock) and powdered serpentine were characterized. A silane coupling agent (SCA), γ‐aminopropyl triethoxy silane, was used for the surface treatment of serpentine. Mechanical properties of the composites were measured in terms of impact strength, elastic modulus, stress at yield, stress at break, and percentage strain at break. The addition of serpentine was found to have a profound effect on the reinforcement of the PP matrix. Because of the stronger interactions at the interphase induced by SCA treatment, mechanical properties were improved further in comparison with the untreated composites. Similar thermal and morphological behaviors were recorded for the composites with and without surface treatment. Thermal studies showed an increase in both melting temperature and percentage crystallinity of the composites. Scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed that homogeneous distribution of filler was observed at low filler contents, but a certain extent of agglomeration was also seen at high filler loadings. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The heat and mass transfer equations governing an adsorbent bed in an adsorption heat pump and the mass balance equation for the adsorbent particles in the adsorbent bed were solved numerically to simulate the cycle of a basic adsorption heat pump, which includes isobaric adsorption, isosteric heating, isobaric desorption, and isosteric cooling processes. The finite difference method was used to solve the set of governing equations, which are highly nonlinear and coupled. The pressures of the evaporator and condenser were 2 and 20 kPa, respectively, and the regeneration temperature of the bed was 403 K. Changes in the temperature, adsorptive pressure, and adsorbate concentration in the adsorbent bed at different steps of the cycle were determined. The basic simulated cycle is presented in a Clausius-Clapeyron diagram, which illustrates the changes in average pressure and temperature of the adsorbent bed throughout the cycle. The results of the simulation indicated that the most time-consuming processes in the adsorption heat pump cycle were isobaric adsorption and isobaric desorption. Effects of dietary α-lipoic acid enantiomers on hepatic and serum lipid concentrations and the activity and mRNA levels of enzymes involved in hepatic fatty acid metabolism were examined in rats. Rats were fed experimental diets containing 0 or 2.5 g/kg of α-lipoic acid enantiomers (a racemic mixture of R/S-, S- or R-α-lipoic acid) for 21 days. Various α-lipoic acid preparations decreased serum and liver concentrations of triacylglycerol, and also lowered serum concentrations of cholesterol and phospholipid and the concentration of cholesterol in the liver. α-Lipoic acid decreased the activity and mRNA levels of various hepatic lipogenic enzymes and also decreased the activities of carnitine acyltransferase and 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase and mRNA levels of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1a involved in fatty acid oxidation in the liver; however, R- and S-enantiomers of α-lipoic acid as well as well as a racemic mixture of R/S-α-lipoic acid were indistinguishable in altering these indices for lipid metabolism. 相似文献

The importance of flame-retardant and smoke-suppressed poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compositions is increasing gradually in the polymer industry since PVC releases smoke and toxic gases (hydrogen chloride, HCl) during heating at temperatures above 140°C with the result of dehydrochlorination reaction. In this study, the synergistic effects of zinc borate (ZB)-zinc phosphate (ZP) on the thermal stability of PVC were investigated using thermal techniques. The induction and stability time values of PVC plastigels were obtained at 140° and 160°C. The results revealed that PVC plastigels having only ZP and ZB retarded dehydrochlorination of PVC compared with the unstabilized sample. However, the plastigels with both ZB and ZP had a superior synergistic effect on char formation of PVC. Since the induction periods of the samples having both ZB and ZP were higher than those of the unstabilized samples having only ZB or only ZP, the synergistic effect was observed. 相似文献

Used frying oils were purified in a packed column using different amounts of silica gel (SG), aluminum oxide (AO), activated charcoal (AC), bentonite (B), magnesol XL (M), calcium carbonate (CC), zeolite (Z), bleaching earth (BE) and/or their binary, triple, and quaternary combinations. SG (15 g) improved total polar material (TPM) by 100 %, conjugated diene (CD) content by 84 %, and p-anisidine value (AV) by 104 %, while AO and M improved free fatty acid (FFA) contents by 103 and 105 %, respectively. On the other hand, AC and M bleached the color by 100 and 90 %, respectively. As the amount of adsorbent in the column increased, FFA, CD, AV, and color improved. When the amount of used sunflower oil (UO1) loaded in the column containing SL was increased, FFA, CD, AV and color values increased, while no change was observed in TPM up to 60 g of UO1. Loading UO1 at 150 °C in the column caused the absorbance values at 460 nm to decrease from 0.740 to 0.240, while the amount of adsorbed tocopherol increased compared to UO1 at 25 °C. The increasing number of adsorbents within the column further improved the physicochemical properties of UO1 when it was used 30 g. However, as the amount of different type of used oils (UO2, UO3 and UO4) was increased to 300 g, improvement ratios of all parameters decreased. 相似文献
