Chitosan and polyethylene glycol (PEG-600) membranes were synthesized and crosslinked with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). The main purpose of this research work is to synthesize RO membranes which can be used to provide desalinated water for drinking, industrial and agricultural purposes. Hydrogen bonding between chitosan and PEG was confirmed by displacement of the hydroxyl absorption peak at 3237 cm−1 in pure chitosan to lower values in crosslinked membranes by using FTIR. Dynamic mechanical analysis revealed that PEG lowers Tg of the modified membranes vs. pure chitosan from 128.5 °C in control to 120 °C in CS-PEG5. SEM results highlighted porous and anisotropic structure of crosslinked membranes. As the amount of PEG was increased, hydrophilicity of membranes was increased and water absorption increased up to a maximum of 67.34%. Permeation data showed that flux and salt rejection value of the modified membranes was increased up to a maximum of 80% and 40.4%, respectively. Modified films have antibacterial properties against Escherichia coli as compared to control membranes.  相似文献

There is an urgent need to treat diabetes, and therefore, this work reports on a chitosan-built hydrogel functionalized by a glucose sensing moiety, which simulates pancreatic activity. The effect of external stimuli on various internal properties was investigated to establish the action of the hydrogel. The model drugs, fluorescein (D1) and rhodamine (D2), with a diol architecture, were investigated spectroscopically with 75.94% loading and 65.63% release. Consequently, a ligand to glucose ratio of 2:1 in comparison with a ligand to model drug ratio of 1:1 was addressed. The system was expected to lead to findings on applications for the self-controlled release of insulin in response to blood glucose levels.  相似文献

Choline chloride + phenylacetic acid‐based deep eutectic solvents are studied. Their most relevant experimental physicochemical properties at different mixing ratios together with the CO2 solubility data obtained in wide pressure and temperature ranges are reported. The presented materials exhibit a significant CO2 capture performance with low corrosion effect when compared with the most common amine‐based CO2 capture agents. Detailed rheological measurements are carried out and various models are applied to describe the dynamic flow behavior of the solvents. The CO2 absorption mechanism is evaluated by studying the behavior of the liquid gas and interface. Due to the advantages of low cost, nontoxicity, and favorable physical properties, these solvents are an environmentally promising alternative for effective CO2 capture technological applications.  相似文献

Wireless body area network (WBAN) has witnessed significant attentions in the healthcare domain using biomedical sensor-based monitoring of heterogeneous nature of vital signs of a patient’s body. The design of frequency band, MAC superframe structure, and slots allocation to the heterogeneous nature of the patient’s packets have become the challenging problems in WBAN due to the diverse QoS requirements. In this context, this paper proposes an Energy Efficient Traffic Prioritization for Medium Access Control (EETP-MAC) protocol, which provides sufficient slots with higher bandwidth and guard bands to avoid channels interference causing longer delay. Specifically, the design of EETP-MAC is broadly divided in to four folds. Firstly, patient data traffic prioritization is presented with broad categorization including Non-Constrained Data (NCD), Delay-Constrained Data (DCD), Reliability-Constrained Data (RCD) and Critical Data (CD). Secondly, a modified superframe structure design is proposed for effectively handling the traffic prioritization. Thirdly, threshold based slot allocation technique is developed to reduce contention by effectively quantifying criticality on patient data. Forth, an energy efficient frame design is presented focusing on beacon interval, superframe duration, and packet size and inactive period. Simulations are performed to comparatively evaluate the performance of the proposed EETP-MAC with the state-of-the-art MAC protocols. The comparative evaluation attests the benefit of EETP-MAC in terms of efficient slot allocation resulting in lower delay and energy consumption.

ABSTRACT

We present a theoretical model to realize the symmetric and asymmetric diffraction grating in a four-level atomic medium. The proposed atomic medium follows a double lambda configuration where four fields interact with it. We get control over symmetric and asymmetric behavior of the diffraction grating by manipulating the relative phase of the fields. Interestingly, the symmetric and asymmetric diffraction grating become prominent when the vortex beam is used instead of the plane wave. Enhanced first, second, and third-order diffraction gratings are achieved via the vortex beam. Further, we find control over asymmetric diffraction gratings by the relative phase of the fields. Coherent control of asymmetric diffraction grating in negative and positive diffracted angles is also achieved via the relative phase.  相似文献

In the present work, we report a method of fabrication of dense 10 mol% Mg2+-doped cerium pyrophosphate-phosphate (Ce0.9Mg0.1P2O7-PmOn; CMP-P) composites by microwave heat-treatment of the preformed Ce0.9Mg0.1P2O7 substrates in the presence of phosphoric acid. The composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The microwave heating at 375 °C for 5 min resulted in the formation of dense CMP-P composites which retained most of the pyrophosphate phase. The electrical conductivity was extracted from the EIS data and for the CMP-P composite prepared by H3PO4 loading for 10 h and microwave heat-treatment for 5 min it was found to be >10?2 S m?1 in 100–250 °C range with a maximum of 0.062 S cm?1 at 190 °C, which was significant for its application as electrolyte in intermediate temperature fuel cells.  相似文献

Supported iron oxides have been established as an important class of catalyst for high temperature sulfuric acid decomposition. With an objective to elucidate the role of support in modifying the overall catalytic properties of dispersed iron oxide catalysts, a series of supported iron oxide based catalysts, Fe2O3 (15 wt%)/MO2 (M = Zr, Ce, Ti and Si), synthesized by adsorption-equilibrium method, is investigated for sulfuric acid decomposition reaction. The structure of dispersed iron oxide phases largely depended on the nature of the support oxide as revealed by the XRD and Mössbauer studies. α-Fe2O3 is found to be present as a major phase on ZrO2 and CeO2 support while ε-Fe2O3 was the major phase on silica supported iron oxide. On the other hand, presence of mixed oxide Fe2TiO5 was revealed over TiO2 support. Strong dispersed metal oxide-support interactions inhibited the total reduction of the dispersed phase on SiO2 and TiO2 as compared to complete reduction of dispersed iron oxide on CeO2 and ZrO2 supports during temperature programmed reduction upto 1000 °C. The order of catalytic activity at a temperature of ~750 °C is observed as Fe2O3/SiO2 > Fe2TiO5/TiO2 > Fe2O3/ZrO2 > Fe2O3/CeO2, while at higher temperatures of ~900 °C the SO2 yield is found to be comparable for all catalysts. A relationship between the rate of sulfate decomposition and catalytic activity is established through detailed TG-DTA investigations of sulfated catalyst and support. Considerable influence of the support oxide on the composition, structure, redox properties, morphology and catalytic activities of the active iron oxide dispersed phase has been observed. Thus, the support oxides operate as a critical component in the complex supported metal oxide catalysts and these findings might influence the design and development of future high temperature sulfuric acid decomposition catalysts.  相似文献

With the increased penetration of real-time systems into our surroundings, the selection of an efficient schedulability test under fixed priority system from a plethora of existing results, has become a matter of primary interest to real-time system designers. The need for a faster schedulability tests becomes more prominent when it applies to online systems, where processor time is a sacred resource and it is of central importance to assign processor to execute tasks instead of determining system schedulability. Under fixed priority nonpreemptive real-time systems, current schedulability tests (in exact form) can be divided into: response time based tests, and scheduling points tests. To the best of our knowledge, no comparative study of these test to date has ever been presented. The aim of this work is to assist the system designers in the process of selecting a suitable technique from the existing literature after knowing the pros and cons associated with these tests. We highlight the mechanism behind the feasibility tests, theoretically and experimentally. Our experimental results show that response time based tests are faster than scheduling points tests, which make the response time based tests an excellent choice for online systems.  相似文献

Riparian Salicaceae are prolific producers of short‐lived seeds that require very restrictive hydro‐geomorphic conditions for establishment. It is generally assumed that if floods are able to create nursery sites timed with seed dispersal, recruitment will occur. Other spatial and temporal seed dispersal patterns besides the dispersal period have historically received little attention. However, seed dispersal patterns can be highly variable between regions, species and over the years. In this paper, we report the seed dispersal patterns of three dominant riparian Salicaceae trees in Europe: Populus alba, P. nigra and Salix alba to suggest possible trade‐offs between seed dispersal patterns, germinability, longevity and establishment. Seed rain of the three species was monitored in 33 glue‐coated traps for three months yearly from 2006 to 2008 in an 8‐km stretch of the Middle Ebro River (N Spain), which has a pluvio‐nival regime. P. alba dispersed seeds earlier during a shorter time period and with a fewer number of seed release pulses compared with P. nigra, and especially with S. alba. With overlapping seed dispersal periods, the two latter species occupy similar landform units but rarely compete with P. alba, usually at higher elevations, as shown in a previous study in the same study area. The three species had very high germinability immediately after release (>90%), but longevity in S. alba was eight times shorter than that of its two Populus counterparts. We suggest that S. alba has compensated its lower seed quality with a more spaced seed release in several pulses of similar magnitude. With similar seed dispersal patterns and germinability but a higher longevity, P. nigra had a much higher density of individuals than S. alba in the recruitment zones of the study area. We hope that our results may inform river managers about how to optimize river flows to promote sexual regeneration of these species. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
