Power-generating and processing plants for combined production of liquefied natural gas and electricity with extraction of helium

Matters relating to mathematical simulation and optimization studies of power-generating and processing plants for combined production of liquefied natural gas and electricity with extraction of helium are considered. The mathematical models simulating individual elements of such plants and plants as a whole are mainly based on an original method for calculating thermodynamic equilibrium of multicomponent steam-liquid flows.     

The model of servicing the real-time traffic and data with a dynamically changeable transmission speed

A model is built up of the joint transmission of the traffic of real-time services and the data traffic admitting a delay. The real-time traffic has the advantage in the occupation and use of the channel resource. It is expressed in terms of a decrease of the data transmission speed to a certain preassigned minimum value. As a free channel resource appears, the data transfer speed increases. The scheme is investigated of the occupation of the channel resource and formal definitions are given of the basic quality indices of the joint service of requests. A solution is considered of the problem for estimating the data traffic volume that can be transmitted together with the traffic of real-time services in the fulfillment of the prescribed restrictions on the delay.     

On the 25th anniversary of the disaster at the chernobyl nuclear power plant

Nuclear power development in market conditions with use of multi-purpose modular fast reactors SVBR-75/100

This article presents an innovative nuclear power technology, based on the use of modular type fast-neutron reactors SVBR-75/100 having heavy liquid-metal coolant, i.e. eutectic lead–bismuth alloy, which was mastered in Russia for the nuclear submarines’ reactors. Reactor SVBR-75/100 possesses inherent self-protection and passive safety properties that allow excluding of many safety systems necessary for traditional type reactors. Use of this nuclear power technology makes it possible to eliminate conflicting requirements among safety needs and economic factors, which is particularly found in traditional reactors, to increase considerably the investment attractiveness of nuclear power based on the use of fast-neutron reactors for the near future, when the cost of natural uranium is low and to assure development of nuclear power in market conditions. On the basis of the factory-fabricated “standard” reactor modules, it is possible to construct the nuclear power plants with different power and purposes. Without changing the design, it is possible for reactor SVBR-75/100 to use different kinds of fuel and operate in different fuel cycles with meeting the safety requirements.     

Radiative recombination in Zn1-x MnxTe/Zn0.59Mg0.41Te quantum well structures: Exciton emission and intracenter luminescence

The luminescence spectra controlled by excitons and intracenter 3d emission of Mn²⁺ ions are studied for a series of Zn_1-x Mn_xTe/Zn_0.59Mg_0.41 Te quantum well (QW) structures that differ in manganese content and QW width. It is shown that the relative intensities of exciton emission of the QWs and barriers and the dependences of the intensities on the optical excitation level are controlled mainly by the manganese content in the QWs that affect the efficiency of excitons transfer of to the 3d shell of the Mn²⁺ ions. The effects of QW width and manganese content on the decay kinetics of the intracenter luminescence of the Mn²⁺ ions are studied.     

Determination of the level of seismic danger and design seismic loads for large hydrotechnical structures

A local network of sensitive high-accuracy seismological stations has to be created for seismological observations near a hydrotechnical structure and on the banks of the storage reservoir.
