An enhanced scheme of transcribing the system dynamics for the numerical solution of optimal control problems is proposed. This new scheme is based on the standard method of direct collocation that converts an optimal control problem into a nonlinear programming problem via simultaneous state and control discretization. When compared with the standard method, the enhanced scheme has the advantage of higher solution accuracy with minimal additional computational effort. It is particularly suited for systems with states that are related to each other in a special form. For such systems, the ensuing nonlinear programming problem has the same number of constraints as those using the standard method. Numerical results on several optimal control problems using the enhanced scheme are presented, together with comparisons with the results obtained from the standard scheme.  相似文献

A magnetically separable ZnFe2O4-reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nano-composite was synthesised via a microwave method. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images of the nano-composite showed a uniform dispersion of nanoparticles on the rGO sheets. The performance of the nano-composite in wastewater treatment was assessed by observing the decomposition of methylene blue. The nano-composite showed excellent bifunctionality, i.e. adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue, for up to five cycles of water treatment when illuminated with light from a halogen bulb. In contrast, water treatment with the nano-composite without illumination and the illuminated rGO, with no decoration of nanoparticles, diminished significantly after the first treatment. The reclamation of the ZnFe2O4-rGO nano-composite from treated water could be easily achieved by applying an external magnetic field.  相似文献

In this paper, we explore the application of cooperative communications in ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless body area networks (BANs), where a group of on-body devices may collaborate together to communicate with other groups of on-body equipment. Firstly, time-domain UWB channel measurements are presented to characterize the body-centric multipath channel and to facilitate the diversity analysis in a cooperative BAN (CoBAN). We focus on the system deployment scenario when the human subject is in the sitting posture. Important channel parameters such as the pathloss, power variation, power delay profile (PDP), and effective received power (ERP) crosscorrelation are investigated and statistically analyzed. Provided with the model preliminaries, a detailed analysis on the diversity level in a CoBAN is provided. Specifically, an intuitive measure is proposed to quantify the diversity gains in a single-hop cooperative network, which is defined as the number of independent multipaths that can be averaged over to detect symbols. As this measure provides the largest number of redundant copies of transmitted information through the body-centric channel, it can be used as a benchmark to access the performance bound of various diversity-based cooperative schemes in futuristic body sensor systems.  相似文献

The paper describes and analyses the performance of anoxic selectors in upgrading activated sludge process in a municipal wastewater treatment plant under tropical climate, where poor sludge settleability is a problem due to elevated temperature. Site monitoring and laboratory experiment were conducted to study the denitrification, sludge settleability, kinetics, mass balance, pH and alkalinity variation in the system. The sludge settleability measured in Sludge Volume Index (SVI) was observed to improve with the increasing degree of denitrification in the anoxic selector. Under well-developed stable state, an average SVI value of 136 ml/g was achieved, which was significantly lower than the value of 250 ml/g before the application of anoxic selector. The specific reaction rates for denitrification and nitrification at 30 degrees C were 0.06 mg NO3-N/mg MLSS day and 0.08 mg NH4-N/mg MLSS day, respectively. The overall efficiencies of nitrification and denitrification were 86 percent and 55.4 percent, respectively, with an alkalinity recovery ratio of 15.4 percent. 32 percent of total COD removed was used up as electron donor in the denitrification process. However, due to absence of the internal Mixed Liquor Recirculation (MLR), a higher degree of denitrification occurred in the secondary sedimentation tank than in the anoxic zone. Microfluidic lab-on-a-chip allows chemical and biochemical analysis to be conducted in a miniaturized system. Miniaturized analysis reduces the reagent consumption while decreasing the overall size of the device, but the small dose of the sample make detection more demanding and is more sensitive to adsorption of species on the surface. Integration of carbon nanotubes into microfludic devices is a promising approach. This review addresses recent advances in the application of carbon nanotubes for microfluidic lab-on-a-chip. The literature review shows that carbon nanotubes have been used to achieve superlubrifying microchannels, act as high density nanoporous membranes, electrical transducers mainly in flow sensors and biosensors, and mimics of living systems. In addition, extensive work has been carried out to investigate the tunable mechanical, chemical and electrical properties of carbon nanotubes in order to manipulate and analyse extremely small volumes of fluid effectively.  相似文献

Experimental and analytical techniques are introduced for the quantitative, nanoscale mapping of chemical bonding information in carbon-based materials. With these techniques, the spatial orientation of graphitic crystallites in tetrahedrally bonded amorphous carbon was imaged. Simultaneously, the percentage of sp2- and sp3-bonded carbon could be mapped quantitatively, all with spatial resolution of just a few nanometers. Two electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) techniques were compared: low-loss mapping of the plasmon energy and core-loss mapping of the carbon ionization edge. The recently developed EELS acquisition routine of binned gain averaging was applied, together with multivariate statistical analysis, providing a robust method for obtaining real-space, two-dimensional bonding maps.  相似文献
