We analyze and compare several strategies for iteratively decoding trellis-encoded signals over channels with memory. Soft-in/soft-out extensions of reduced-complexity trellis search algorithms such as delayed decision-feedback sequence estimating (DDFSE) or parallel decision-feedback decoding (PDFD) algorithms are used instead of conventional BCJR and min-log-BCJR algorithms. It has been shown that for long channel impulse responses and/or high modulation orders where the BCJR algorithm becomes prohibitively complex, the proposed algorithms offer very good performance with low complexity. The problem of channel estimation in practical implementation of turbo detection schemes is studied in the second part. Two methods of channel reestimation are proposed: one based on the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm and the second on a simple Bootstrap technique. Both algorithms are shown to dramatically improve the performance of the classical pseudo inverse channel estimation performed initially on a training sequence  相似文献

Abstract:

This article contributes a methodology for eliciting expert judgment in support of decision analysis associated with the conceptual design of advanced engineering systems. To provide a basis for decision making in the presence of model and input parameter uncertainties, experts in several disciplines can be utilized to provide model parameter estimates to facilitate analyses. The judgment elicitation methodology was developed to cover a multitude of system disciplines using multiple experts. To address consistency in expert assessments, the methodology includes expert assessment calibration means. A sample application of the resultant expert judgment methodology is discussed. An engineering manager can use the methodology described in this article to assess viability of potential courses of action in high-risk or advanced state-of-the-art technology systems development ventures.  相似文献

During the production of thin shell plastic parts by injection molding, warpage depending on the process conditions is often encountered. In this study, efficient minimization of warpage on thin shell plastic parts by integrating finite element (FE) analysis, statistical design of experiment method, response surface methodology (RSM), and genetic algorithm (GA) is investigated. A bus ceiling lamp base is considered as a thin shell plastic part example. To achieve the minimum warpage, optimum process condition parameters are determined. Mold temperature, melt temperature, packing pressure, packing time, and cooling time are considered as process condition parameters. FE analyses are conducted for a combination of process parameters organized using statistical three-level full factorial experimental design. The most important process parameters influencing warpage are determined using FE analysis results based on analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. A predictive response surface model for warpage data is created using RSM. The response surface (RS) model is interfaced with an effective GA to find the optimum process parameter values.  相似文献

Abstract: A simple integral type quadratic functional is proposed as the performance index so that the optimal control policy is derived based on the minimization of the proposed performance index between the successive control instants by using the method of calculus of variations. The resulting optimal control law is applied to seismically excited linear buildings modeled as lumped mass shear frame structures. Active tendon actuators are considered as control devices. The performance of the proposed control (PC) is investigated when the example structure is subjected to three different seismic inputs and compared to the uncontrolled case and the classical linear optimal control (CLOC), which requires the solution of nonlinear matrix Riccati equation. It is shown by numerical simulation results that the PC is capable of suppressing the uncontrolled seismic vibrations of the linear structures and performs better than the CLOC.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Following intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) instillation, we attempted to detect BCG in the blood using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and correlate these findings with the occurrence of major complications due to this treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Intravesical BCG immunotherapy was given to 22 consecutive patients with superficial bladder tumors. In 2 patients the BCG instillation had to be discontinued due to serious side effects of therapy. Blood samples (252 aliquots) were obtained from 126 BCG courses in 22 cases, and 2 additional samples (4 aliquots) were obtained from 1 patient 1 and 3 months after cessation of therapy. All blood samples were analyzed by the PCR technique for detection of deoxyribonucleic acid tuberculosis Mycobacterium tuberculosis. RESULTS: Of the 126 blood samples 9 (7.1%) were PCR positive for M. tuberculosis. These 9 positive samples belonged to 3 patients, all of whom were among those 4 patients who had major clinical side effects. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that rapid and sensitive detection of mycobacteremia by PCR correlated with the clinical course of these patients. We also demonstrated that PCR can be used to monitor BCG in the blood after antituberculous therapy. The early, fast and accurate diagnosis of BCG in the blood by PCR may alter the serious clinical course of these patients by initiation of specific treatment early. However, further extensive studies are needed to validate these results.  相似文献

In this article, a novel wide band polarization and incident angle independent metamaterial absorber (MA) and energy harvesting applications which operates at C (4GHz‐8 GHz) and X (8GHz‐12 GHz) is proposed. The unit‐cell of the proposed structure based on fractal circle loop. Four lumped resistors are mounted the structure to obtain a broad band absorption characteristics. Resistors increase the absorption characteristic of proposed MA significantly at mentioned frequency ranges. In addition, under favor of the resistors proposed MA can convert absorbed energy from incident wave to appearing power.  相似文献

3D shape modeling is a crucial component of rapid prototyping systems that customize shapes of implants and prosthetic devices to a patient’s anatomy. In this paper, we present a solution to the problem of customized 3D shape modeling using a statistical shape analysis framework. We design a novel method to learn the relationship between two classes of shapes, which are related by certain operations or transformation. The two associated shape classes are represented in a lower dimensional manifold, and the reduced set of parameters obtained in this subspace is utilized in an estimation, which is exemplified by a multivariate regression in this paper. We demonstrate our method with a felicitous application to the estimation of customized hearing aid devices.  相似文献
