This study has been undertaken to develop a controlled-release tablet dosage form of naproxen using ethocel (ethyl cellulose) as the rate-controlling polymer. The formulations were made by employing the conventional wet-granulation method and the solid-dispersion method. Tablets made by both methods were compared for their controlled-release dissolution profiles. Both methods were useful in developing the controlled-release formulations of naproxen with desirable properties. However, the amount of polymer required to make a formulation with the desired release profile was 33% less via solid dispersion than via wet granulation. A cumulative 88% of naproxen was released from the solid-dispersion formulation, compared with 84% from the wet-granulation formulation.  相似文献

Chemical stabilization of MSW incinerator fly ashes   总被引:33,自引:0,他引:33  
In this work, the relationship between heavy metal content of fly ash and that of the solid wastes incinerated was correlated and compared. It is found that the former is a function of the latter. Hence, it is important to prevent heavy metal-rich wastes from being incinerated in order to reduce the content of toxic metals in the fly ash. The leachability of fly ash from incineration was usually beyond the scope of toxicity standard and must be properly treated before discharge. Secondly, chemical stabilization for the heavy metals in fly ash was explored. Among the chemicals used, it was found that sodium hydroxide was not suitable for the adequate extraction of the heavy metals from the fly ash. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt (EDTA) was also tested and seems to be effective for the leaching of toxic metals from the fly ash. On the other hand, sodium sulfide and thiourea are one of excellent chemicals for the effective treatment of fly ashes, since they convert soluble and leachable toxic metals into non-leachable and insoluble forms such as lead and zinc sulfide or their similar forms of thiourea. These chemical species are supposed to be stable in nature. A comparison between chemical stabilization noted above and cement or asphalt solidification methods is made. Chemical stabilization processes, especially using sodium sulfide as the chemical agent, are strongly recommended for the practical uses, in terms of the volume expansion and environmental safety of the stabilized products and cost balances, in comparison with the traditional cement or asphalt solidification methods.  相似文献

Design optimization of beam-like ferroelectrics-silicon integrated microphone and microspeaker is studied. The Pt/Pb(Zr,Ti)O3/Pt/SiO2/Si3N4 cantilever structure is designed theoretically using multimorph model. The sensitivity and the sound pressure level (SPL) of the integrated microphone and microspeaker are calculated. It is found that the sensitivity of the microphone and the SPL of the microspeaker are very high. This integrated microphone and microspeaker will be valuable for high quality micro-acoustic devices  相似文献

Biodegradable hydrophilic gelatin nanoparticles, containing different initial amounts of methotrexate (MTX), were prepared using a simple solvent evaporation technique based on a single water-in-oil emulsion and stabilized by the use of glutaraldehyde as cross-linking agent. The effects of several parameters on particle size, drug encapsulation efficiency and drug release were investigated. Size and shape of the nanoparticles were examined by scanning electron microscopy. The release of MTX was monitored in vitro and the mechanism of release was studied. Particles with a mean diameter of 100–200 nm were produced, which were able to release MTX following a diffusion-controlled mechanism of release. It was observed that the initial amount of MTX used for sample loading did not have any effect on the pattern of release, while it affected the amount of drug entrapped into the nanoparticles and also both the release rate and the total amount of drug released.  相似文献

The chemical disinfection of drinking water to control microbial contaminants results in the formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs). The volatile trihalomethanes and the nonvolatile haloacetic acids (HAAs) are the most prevalent DBPs. It is important to monitor human exposure to HAAs because of their potential adversehealth effects, such as cancer. Among the HAAs, urinary trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) is a potential valid biomarker for assessing chronic ingestion exposure to HAAs from drinking water. We have developed a rugged, high-throughput, sensitive, accurate, and precise assay for the measurement of trace levels of TCAA in human urine using a simple solid-phase extraction (SPE) cleanup followed by isotope dilution high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). TCAA is extracted from the urine using SPE, separated from other extract components by reversed-phase HPLC, and analyzed by negative ion electrospray ionization-isotope dilution-MS/MS using a multiple reaction monitoring experiment. The method is simple and fast and is not labor intensive (sample preparation and analysis can be performed in approximately 15 min) with a limit of detection of 0.5 ng/mL in 1 mL of urine.  相似文献

In this work, the fluid flow and mass transfer due to the presence of an electric field in a rectangular channel is examined. We consider a mixture of water or another neutral solvent and a salt compound, such as sodium chloride, for which the ionic species are entirely dissociated. Results are produced for the case in which the channel height is much greater than the electric double layer (EDL) (microchannel) and for the case in which the channel height is of the order of the width of the EDL (nanochannel). Both symmetric and nonsymmetric velocity, potential, and mole fraction distributions are considered, unlike previous work on this problem. At small electrolyte concentrations, the Debeye-Huckel picture of the electric double layer is recovered; at larger concentrations, the Gouy-Chapman picture of the electric double emerges naturally. The numerical results presented here agree with analytical solutions of a singular perturbation analysis, which is valid as the channel height increases. In the symmetric case for the electroosmotic flow so induced, the velocity field and the potential are similar. In the asymmetric case corresponding to different wall potentials, the velocity and potential can be vastly different. The fluid is assumed to behave as a continuum, and the volume flow rate is observed to vary linearly with channel height for electrically driven flow, in contrast to pressure-driven flow, which varies as height cubed. This means that very large pressure drops are required to drive flows in small channels. However, useful volume flow rates may be obtained at a very low driving voltage.  相似文献

Commercial explosives are complex mixtures that contain not only the active explosive agent(s) but also a host of other organic and inorganic compounds. The ultrahigh mass resolving power (m/delta m50% >200,000) and mass accuracy (<1 ppm) of electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (ESI FTICR) mass spectrometry allow for definitive identification of various species in TNT, RDX, and HMX. We are thereby able to correct prior misassignments of the elemental compositions of the most abundant negative ions from electrospray of RDX and HMX. Although the (known) active agents of many explosives may be identified by low-resolution MS or MS/MS, it is the other characteristic components (indigenous or artificial additives) whose presence and elemental composition can potentially identify the source of the product. ESI FTICR mass spectrometry of smokeless powder, TNT, and Powermite resolves and identifies numerous nonactive ingredients, many of which are recovered in a postblast residue. In contrast, the residue recovered from an explosion of military C4 yielded several species derived from RDX but virtually none from other ingredients.  相似文献

We report a novel method termed matrix suppressed laser desorption/ionization to improve the analysis of low-mass molecules by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. In this method, the surfactant of cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) is added to the conventional matrix of alpha-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid solution to prepare the MALDI samples. During the MALDI process, the presence of CTAB could substantially or even completely suppress the matrix-related ion background. As a result, very clean mass spectra can be routinely obtained in the low-mass range. In addition, the presence of CTAB can significantly improve the mass resolution of low-mass molecules. It is seen that high-quality spectra were routinely obtained at a matrix/CTAB ratio of 1000:1. This method has been successfully used to analyze a variety of low-mass molecules.  相似文献

Water-soluble luminescent CdS quantum dots (QDs) capped by polyphosphate, L-cysteine, and thioglycerol were synthesized in aqueous solution. The ligands were found to have a profound effect on the luminesence response of CdS QDs to physiologically important metal cations. Polyphosphate-capped CdS QDs were sensitive to nearly all mono- and divalent cations, showing no ion selectivity. Conversely, thioglycerol-capped CdS QDs were sensitive to only copper and iron ions. Similar concentrations of physiologically relevant cations, such as zinc, sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium ions did not affect the luminescence of thioglycerol-capped CdS QDs. On the other hand, L-cysteine-capped CdS QDs were sensitive to zinc ions and insensitive to other physiologically important cations, such as copper, calcium, and magnium ions. To demonstrate the detection capability of these new ion probes, L-cysteine and thioglycerol-capped CdS QDs were used to detect zinc and copper ions in physiological buffer samples. The detection limits were 0.8 microM for zinc (II) and 0.1 microM for copper (II) ions. The emission enhancement of the QDs by zinc (II) is attributed to activation of surface states, whereas the effective reduction of copper (II) to copper (I) may explain the emission decrease of the thioglycerol-capped CdS QDs when charged with copper ions. Unlike organic fluorescent dyes, the thioglycerol-capped luminescent CdS QDs discriminate between copper and zinc ions and are therefore suitable for the analysis of copper ions in biological samples in the presence of physiological concentrations of zinc ions. The interference of iron ions with zinc and copper ion detection is attributed to an inner filter effect, which is eliminated by adding fluoride ions to form the colorless complex FeF6(3-). To the best of our knowledge, this is first use of luminescent semiconductor quantum dots as selective ion probes in aqueous samples.  相似文献

An investigation of relaxed alignment tolerance in monolithic ring lasers is presented. It was found that the relaxed alignment tolerance is strongly dependent on the out-of-plane angle. A preferred region for the out-of-plane angle is proposed. In this region the resonator has greatly relaxed alignment tolerances, and the unidirectional operation can be obtained under a much-lower magnetic field. Two lasers have been constructed in the region, and satisfactory performance was found, in good agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献
