A junction device has been fabricated by growing p-type Bi2Te3 topological insulator (TI) film on an n-type silicon (Si) substrate using a thermal evaporation technique. Annealing using different temperatures and durations was employed to improve the quality of the film, as confirmed by microstructural study using x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The p–n diode characteristics of the junction devices were studied, and the effect of annealing investigated. An improved diode characteristic with good rectification ratio (RR) was observed for devices annealed for longer duration. Reduction in the leakage or reverse saturation current (\( I_{\rm{R}} \)) was observed with increase in the annealing temperature. The forward-bias current (\( I_{\rm{F}} \)) dropped in devices annealed above 400°C. The best results were observed for the sample device annealed at 450°C for 3 h, showing figure of merit (FOM) of 0.621 with RR ≈ 504 and \( I_{\rm{R}} \) = 0.25 μA. In terms of ideality factor, the sample device annealed at 550°C for 2 h was found to be the best with \( n \) = 6.5, RR ≈ 52.4, \( I_{\rm{R}} \) = 0.61 μA, and FOM = 0.358. The majority-carrier density \( \left( {N_{\rm{A}} } \right) \) in the p-Bi2Te3 film of the heterojunction was found to be on the order of 109/cm3 to 1011/cm3, quite close to its intrinsic carrier concentration. In the present study, graphene oxide (GO) was incorporated into poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and chemically modified PVDF (M‐PVDF) to prepare mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) for gas separation application. Performed analyses proved appropriate dispersion of exfoliated GO sheets in polymer matrices and sufficient compatibility at the interfacial phases. M‐PVDF based MMMs were thermally and mechanically more stable relative to the PVDF‐based MMMs. The oxygen containing functional groups in M‐PVDF was probably the main reason for this more stability. PVDF/GO MMMs rendered low gas permeability and high selectivity. Both impermeable GO sheets and crystalline phases of PVDF were responsible for such behavior. On the other hand, interestingly gas permeability of M‐PVDF/GO MMMs was enhanced while no substantial decline was recorded in gas selectivity. For instance, He and CO2 permeability was increased 12.46% and 25.89%, respectively, compared to the pure PVDF membrane. This behavior originated from functional groups of M‐PVDF and the interaction of these groups with GO sheets. This study considers the feasibility of uptake of cephalexin, an emerging contaminant, from aqueous solutions by using green local montmorillonite (GLM), montmorillonite coated with ZnO (ZnO/GLM) and montmorillonite coated with TiO2 (TiO2/GLM) in the presence of H2O2. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out as a function of pH, initial concentration of the cephalexin, adsorbent dosage, contact time, and temperature. Finally, the adsorbents were characterized by XRD, SEM and FTIR analyses. XRD patterns showed dramatic changes in the adsorbents after loading with the nanoparticles, confirming successful placing of the nanoparticles onto GLM. The GLM mineral surface after nanoparticle loading appears to be fully exposed and more porous with irregular shapes in particles diameters of 1-50 microns. FTIR analyses also confirmed dramatic changes in surface functional groups after modification with these nanoparticles. The results showed that the removal efficiency of cephalexin was better at lower pH values. Totally, the removal efficiency increased with increase in adsorbent dosage and contact time and decreased with concentration and temperature increase. The thermodynamics values of ΔG o and ΔH o revealed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic. In isotherm study, the maximum adsorption capacities (qm) were obtained to be 7.82, 17.09 and 49.26 mg/g for GLM, ZnO/GLM and TiO2/GLM, respectively. Current research work was conducted for enhancing solubility of rosuvastatin calcium. A highly stable, biocompatible, and nontoxic β-cyclodextrin-g-poly(methacrylic acid) graft polymeric network was developed. Formulations proved entrapment efficacy (%) in between 82.30?±?0.25 and 89.00?±?0.25 and gel fraction between 90.34?±?1.012 and 95.25?±?1.331. Formulation HM2 had shown optimum swelling and drug release, i.e., 85.74% at pH 6.8. The best-fit model was first-order kinetics with anomalous diffusion as release mechanism. Likewise, solubility enhancement, i.e., 9.59-folds was determined at pH 6.8. It was concluded that hydrogel microparticles are the promising tools for improving solubility and bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs. 相似文献

Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) employs a unique approach tooptical diagnosis of tissue pathology based on the characteristic molecularvibrational spectra of the tissue. The biomolecular changes in the cellularand sub-cellular levels developing in abnormal tissue, including a majorityof cancer forms, manifest themselves in different optical signatures, whichcan be detected in infrared microspectroscopy. This report has two parts. Inthe first part, we report studies on normal, premalignant (polyp) andmalignant human colonic tissues from three patients with different stages ofmalignancy. Our method is based on microscopic infrared study (FTIR-microscopy)of thin tissue specimens and a direct comparison with traditional histopathologicalanalysis, which serves as a gold reference. The limited dataavailable showed normal colonic tissue has a stronger absorption thanpolypoid tumor and cancerous types over a wide region in a total of 100measurements. Detailed analysis showed that there is a significant decreasein total carbohydrate, phosphate and possibly creatine contents for polyp andcancerous tissue types in comparison to the controls. The same trend is maintainedin seven other patients studied. The second part consists of an analysis showingthe influence of various independent factors such as age, sex and grade of malignancy. Ourpreliminary results suggest that among the above three factors, age and gradeof malignancy have significant effect on the metabolites level, but sex has onlyminor effect on the measured spectra. Cured shape of cross-ply [02/902]T fiber-reinforced composite laminates and the effect of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the mechanical and thermal properties of laminates have been investigated. The nanocomposite laminate used in this study is composed of three phases: carbon fiber, polymer matrix and MWCNT. The volume fractions of 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% MWCNT were used to prepare nanocomposites. The mechanical and thermal properties of nanocomposites and fiber-reinforced nanocomposite laminates have been calculated by using analytical micromechanical models. Analytical micromechanical models were applied to determine the mechanical and thermal properties for two-phase nanocomposite composed of MWCNT and polymer matrix. The obtained mechanical and thermal data were considered as matrix properties and used in properties calculation of three-phase fiber-reinforced nanocomposite laminates. A developed model was used to determine curvature and the effect of MWCNT on the curvature in different specimens. Nonlinear relations have been considered for non-mid-plane strain equations. The addition of 1% volume fraction of MWCNT led to decreasing curvature and increasing critical size almost 14% and 9%, respectively, in different directions. The results were used to develop model and to compare with those calculated by Hyer model. Finally, unsymmetrical cross-ply [02/902]T laminates with different weight fractions of 0, 0.1%, 0.25% and 0.5% MWCNT were fabricated. The curvature of cured composite laminates, obtained by experimental study, was compared with that developed as Hyer models and good agreements were observed between the predicted model and experimental data. The experimentally predicted and developed model for the curvature of cross-ply [02/902]T fiber-reinforced nanocomposite laminates is better than the Hyer model. 相似文献

In addition to conventional approach to ensure the successful application of polymer hydrogels in maintaining temporary well plugging, exact analysis of gel formation and gel strength properties in wellbore are necessary. In this work, bottles and rheology tests are used to investigate the polymer hydrogel gelation time and cross-linking kinetics of sol–gel systems which consist of polyacrylamide and chromium acetate hydroxide as a cross-linker. The effects of temperature of 90 °C and pressure of 3000 psi (typical Iranian oil well condition) were studied in relation to gelation time, strength and the mechanical properties of the hydrogel. The average molecular weight of the polymer chains between cross-link ties was evaluated using an oil-well laboratory system and compressive strength test. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis of dried gel and the effect of temperature on the kinetics of the gel swelling in different solutions such as distilled water, tap water, formation water and oil were studied. The results showed that the number of tie points between each entanglement has not much reduced under pressure. Therefore, the prepared hydrogel can maintain its chemical structure under the Iranian oil well pressure and can be proposed to field studies. The degree of sol–gel reaction of prepared hydrogel and the activation energy based on the Arrhenius equation were calculated to be 1.5 and 274 kJ/mol, respectively. 相似文献

The explosive growth of mobile data traffic has made cellular operators to seek low‐cost alternatives for cellular traffic off‐loading. In this paper, we consider a content delivery network where a vehicular communication network composed of roadside units (RSUs) is integrated into a cellular network to serve as an off‐loading platform. Each RSU subjecting to its storage capacity caches a subset of the contents of the central content server. Allocating the suitable subset of contents in each RSU cache such that maximizes the hit ratio of vehicles requests is a problem of paramount value that is targeted in this study. First, we propose a centralized solution in which, we model the cache content placement problem as a submodular maximization problem and show that it is NP‐hard. Second, we propose a distributed cooperative caching scheme, in which RSUs in an area periodically share information about their contents locally and thus update their cache. To this end, we model the distributed caching problem as a strategic resource allocation game that achieves at least 50% of the optimal solution. Finally, we evaluate our scheme using simulation for urban mobility simulator under realistic conditions. On average, the results show an improvement of 8% in the hit ratio of the proposed method compared with other well‐known cache content placement approaches. 相似文献

Cellulose acetate thin films doped with erbium (III) chloride (ErCl3) of different concentrations were prepared by the solution method. The prepared composite films were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis. IR spectral analysis, UV–visible absorption, a.c. conductivity, and dielectric properties were investigated. The studied ErCl3‐doped samples showed different properties from those of their pure components. SEM micrographs showed that for small dopant concentrations, samples tend to form conducting nanostructures with negligible particle agglomeration. DSC showed a monotonic development of the glass transition temperature by increasing the concentration of dopant material. Variation in the height, shape, and position of the bands in infrared transmission spectra, as well as the glass transition temperatures, indicated a complex interaction with the polymer molecular chains. Thermal stability and thermodynamic parameters were found to be concentration dependent. The electronic transitions’ band gabs and energy tails were calculated from the optical data. The dielectric studies showed that the correlated barrier hopping model was the dominant mechanism of a.c. conductivity. We found that samples with 10% and 20% ErCl3 exhibited high dielectric constants and have pronounced electrostriction and relaxor‐like properties.
