This paper deals with a process planning system whose strategy may be guided by machining difficulties, particularly the quality of the workpiece resulting from its fixturing while machining. Based on a global strategy where the machining operations are grouped into a set-up and the determination of the best fixturing of the workpiece are simultaneously processed, indices of the fixturing performance of the workpiece-fixture-cutter system are established. Those indices are initially calculated and then updated after each process planner’s decision. Their interpretation guides the strategy to be deployed. The system was implemented in a software called PROPEL. It is illustrated in the paper by an extract of a scenario of process planning.  相似文献

High-entropy alloys are formed by synthesizing five or more principal elements in equimolar or near equimolar concentrations. Microstructure of the CoCrCuFeNiAl0.5Bx (x = 0, 0.2, 0.6, 1) high-entropy alloys under investigation is composed of a mixture of disordered bcc and fcc phases and borides. These alloys were tested gravimetrically for their corrosion resistance in simulated syngas containing 0, 0.01, 0.1, and 1 % H2S at 500 °C. The exposed coupons were characterized using XRD and SEM. No significant corrosion was detected at 500 °C in syngas containing 0 and 0.01 % H2S while significant corrosion was observed in syngas containing 0.1 and 1 % H2S. Cu1.96S was the primary sulfide in the external corrosion scale on the low-boron high-entropy alloys, whereas FeCo4Ni4S8 on the high-boron high-entropy alloys. Multi-phase Cu-rich regions in the low-B high-entropy alloys were vulnerable to corrosive attack.  相似文献

A suitable coolant supply in grinding is mandatory to comply with the demanded workpiece quality, to avoid thermal damage and to reduce tool wear. In this paper, the development of a slotted grinding wheel with optimized coolant supply is described. This simple but efficient approach was based on previous investigations on external and internal supply methods, which are briefly described. The performance of the slotted grinding wheel in comparison to two other grinding wheels, applying the same coolant nozzle for each, revealed significant improvements in the cooling efficiency.  相似文献

Many different types of advanced metal matrix composites are now available, some of which possess functional properties. Recent work on particle-reinforced, self-lubricating and self-healing metals and metal matrix nanocomposites (MMNCs) synthesized by solidification synthesis is reviewed. Particle-based MMNCs have been developed by several modern processing tools based on either solid- or liquid-phase synthesis techniques that are claimed to exhibit exciting mechanical properties including improvements of modulus, yield strength, and ultimate tensile strength. This article presents a brief and objective review of the work done over the last decade to identify the challenges and future opportunities in the area of functional nanocomposites. Increasing interest in lightweight materials has resulted in studies on hollow particle-filled metal matrix syntactic foams. Syntactic foams seem especially suitable for development with functional properties such as self-healing and self-lubrication. The metal matrix micro and nanocomposites, and syntactic foams having combinations of ultrahigh strength and wear resistance, self-lubricating, and/or self-healing properties can lead to increased energy efficiency, reliability, comfort of operation, reparability, and safety of vehicles. The focus of the present review is aluminum and magnesium matrix functional materials.  相似文献

Beta thalassemia major (βT) is a hereditary anemia characterized by transfusion-dependency, lifelong requirement of chelation, and organ dysfunction. MicroRNA (miRNA) can be packed into extracellular vesicles (EVs) that carry them to target cells. We explored EV-miRNA in βT and their pathophysiologic role. Circulating EVs were isolated from 35 βT-patients and 15 controls. EV miRNA was evaluated by nano-string technology and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). We explored effects of EVs on cell culture proliferation, apoptosis, and signal transduction. Higher amounts of small EV (exosomes) were found in patients than in controls. The expression of 21 miRNA was > two-fold higher, and of 17 miRNA < three-fold lower in βT-EVs than control-EVs. RT-qPCR confirmed differential expression of six miRNAs in βT, particularly miR-144-3p, a regulator of erythropoiesis. Exposure of endothelial, liver Huh7, and pancreatic 1.1B4 cells to βT-EVs significantly reduced cell viability and increased cell apoptosis. βT-EV-induced endothelial cell apoptosis involved the MAPK/JNK signal-transduction pathway. In contrast, splenectomized βT-EVs induced proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSC). In summary, the miR-144-3p was strongly increased; βT-EVs induced apoptosis and decreased endothelial, pancreatic, and liver cell survival while supporting BM-MSC proliferation. These mechanisms may contribute to βT organ dysfunction and complications.  相似文献

In this work, a commercial extrusion 3D printer is used to process magnetic pastes into desired 3D structures. The magnetic pastes prepared in the authors' laboratory are mixtures of Fe3O4 (iron oxide), microparticles, and PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) polymer. After multiple composition tests, they produced pastes compatible with the 3D printer that can be additively manufactured into flexible ferromagnetic samples. The design optimization, together with the characterizations of composites, are investigated. Magnetic particles do not simply mix with the polymer but formed a chain-like structure under the influence of a magnetic field during the printing process. The chain-like structure induces magnetic and thermal anisotropies. The relative permeability and the low-frequency induction heating (LFIH) effect are improved. The authors' development is highly relevant in healthcare applications, especially endovascular ablation for varicose treatment.  相似文献

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disease impacting the population globally. Pharmaceutical products developed to combat this condition commonly used in clinical settings are IV bolus or oral drug delivery routes. There are some major challenges for effectively developing new dosage forms for topical use: API physicochemical nature, the severity of the disease state, and low bioavailability present challenges for pharmaceutical product developers. For non-severe cases of psoriasis, topical drug delivery systems may be preferred or used in conjunction with oral or parenteral therapy to address local symptoms. Elastic vesicular systems, termed “niosomes”, are promising drug delivery vehicles developed to achieve improved drug delivery into biological membranes. This study aimed to effectively incorporate a corticosteroid into the niosomes for improving the drug bioavailability of desoximetasone, used to treat skin conditions via topical delivery. Niosomes characterization measurements were drug content, pH, spreadability, specific gravity, content uniformity, rheology, and physicochemical properties. Formulations used a topical gelling agent, Carbomer 980 to test for in vitro skin permeation testing (IVPT) and accelerated stability studies. The developed niosomal test gel provided approximately 93.03 ± 0.23% to 101.84 ± 0.11% drug content with yield stresses ranging from 16.12 to 225.54 Pa. The permeated amount of desoximetasone from the niosomal gel after 24 h was 9.75 ± 0.44 µg/cm2 compared to 24.22 ± 4.29 µg/cm2 released from the reference gel tested. Furthermore, a drug retention study compared the test gel to a reference gel, demonstrating that the skin retained 30.88 ng/mg of desoximetasone while the reference product retained 26.01 ng/mg. A controlled drug release profile was obtained with a niosomal formulation containing desoximetasone for use in a topical gel formulation showing promise for potential use to treat skin diseases like psoriasis.  相似文献

Cell-free therapy using extracellular vesicles (EVs) from adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (ASCs) seems to be a safe and effective therapeutic option to support tissue and organ regeneration. The application of EVs requires particles with a maximum regenerative capability and hypoxic culture conditions as an in vitro preconditioning regimen has been shown to alter the molecular composition of released EVs. Nevertheless, the EV cargo after hypoxic preconditioning has not yet been comprehensively examined. The aim of the present study was the characterization of EVs from hypoxic preconditioned ASCs. We investigated the EV proteome and their effects on renal tubular epithelial cells in vitro. While no effect of hypoxia was observed on the number of released EVs and their protein content, the cargo of the proteins was altered. Proteomic analysis showed 41 increased or decreased proteins, 11 in a statistically significant manner. Furthermore, the uptake of EVs in epithelial cells and a positive effect on oxidative stress in vitro were observed. In conclusion, culture of ASCs under hypoxic conditions was demonstrated to be a promising in vitro preconditioning regimen, which alters the protein cargo and increases the anti-oxidative potential of EVs. These properties may provide new potential therapeutic options for regenerative medicine.  相似文献
