Tubular daylight-guidance systems are linear devices that channel daylight into the core of a building. The development, over the last decade, of materials with high specular reflectance has led to a large number of passive zenithal systems; the most commercially successful type of daylight guidance being installed in many parts of the world. The rapid change in technology has not been matched by the development of either reliable and standardised design methods or design criteria against which the systems may be evaluated. This paper presents the results of several surveys of daylight guidance systems in 13 working buildings. These give an indication of the conditions created, which are used as the bases of suggested design criteria. A critical review of existing performance prediction methods notes that these lag far behind comparable methods for electric lighting and conventional glazing. A number of improved methods of prediction, currently under consideration by the CIE Technical Committee TC3-38, are presented and each is tested against measured data from the installation surveys. 相似文献

Flat vacuum glazings consisting of a narrow evacuated space between two glass panes separated by an array of small support pillars have been fabricated. A guarded hot box calorimeter was designed and constructed to measure their heat transfer coefficients. Experimental measurements of temperatures and rates of heat transfer were found to be in very good agreement with those predicted using a developed finite element model. A method for determining the heat transfer coefficient of the evacuated gap has been established and comparisons are made between the measured and predicted glass surface temperature profiles of the exposed glass area and the heat transfer coefficients of the total glazing system in order to validated the model. 相似文献

Cd1−xZnxTe alloy films with 1.6 and 1.7 eV band gaps were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering from targets made either of mixed powders or alloys of CdTe and ZnTe (25% and 40%). High-quality polycrystalline films with the (1 1 1) preferred orientation were obtained. The films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, resistivity, optical absorption, Raman, and photoluminescence. The EDS, XRD, and optical absorption analysis indicated that the x-value of the as-grown films were typically 0.20 and 0.30 for films sputtered from 25% and 40% ZnTe containing targets, respectively. The as-deposited alloy films exhibit quite low photovoltaic performance when used to make cells with CdS as the hetero-junction partner. Therefore, we have studied various post-deposition treatments with vapors of chlorine-containing materials, CdCl2 and ZnCl2, in dry air or H2/Ar ambient at 390 °C. The best performance of a Cd1−xZnxTe cell (, ) was found for treatment with vapors of the mixed CdCl2+0.5%ZnCl2 in an H2/Ar ambient after pre-annealing at 520 °C in pure H2/Ar. 相似文献

Novel anthracene‐bridged carbazole organic dyes (designated ML4 and ML5) were synthesized using the Suzuki coupling reaction. These dyes were designed to be donor‐π‐conjugation‐acceptor sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells, where the carbazole moiety acts as the donor, the anthracene moiety provides the π‐conjugation, and the cyano acrylic acid acts as the acceptor. Solar cells were fabricated with ML4 and ML5 alone with low power conversion efficiencies, but they were also used as co‐sensitizers with N719, improving the efficiency of the dye‐sensitized solar cells produced by ~3% and ~10%, respectively. Marginal costs of electricity vary by time and location. In the past, researchers attributed the variations to factors related to electricity generation and transmission. These authors, however, have not analyzed possible variations in marginal distribution capacity costs (MDCC). The objectives of this paper are:
- 1. (i) to show that large MDCC variations are due to the dispersion in distribution capital expenditures by time and space,
- 2. (ii) to propose a method for quantifying the area- and time-specific MDCC in the presence of lumpy investments, and
- 3. (iii) to compare our MDCC estimates to those commonly used in the electric utility industry.

Interoperability remains a significant burden to the developers of Internet of Things systems. This is because resources and APIs are dynamically composed; they are highly heterogeneous in terms of their underlying communication technologies, protocols and data formats, and interoperability tools remain limited to enforcing standards-based approaches. In this paper, we propose model-based engineering methods to reduce the development effort towards ensuring that complex software systems interoperate with one another. Lightweight interoperability models can be specified in order to monitor and test the execution of running software so that interoperability problems can be quickly identified, and solutions put in place. A graphical model editor and testing tool are also presented to highlight how a visual model improves upon textual specifications. We show using case-studies from the FIWARE Future Internet Service domain that the software framework can support non-expert developers to address interoperability challenges. 相似文献

An ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitted reference (TR) system transmits an un-modulated pulse and a delayed modulated pulse pair. Then, a correlation receiver uses the former to demodulate the latter. Because of the long spread of a typical UWB channel, time delay between the two pulses is preferable to be larger than the channel delay spread for reduced noise at the receiver. However, for bandwidth efficiency, that delay should be made small, resulting in inter-pulse interference at the receiver. In this paper, digital receivers are constructed for TR-UWB systems including inter-pulse interference. A typical mean matching technique, appropriate for both PPM and PAM schemes, is implemented digitally to obtain a good template for symbol detection. Joint estimation and detection performance of this family of digital receivers, using finite number of bits in analog-to-digital conversion and finite noisy observations, is analyzed. Closed form results are derived and verified by computer simulations. In addition, the effect of time offset between the reference pulse and information carrying pulse is studied. Overlap of the two pulses does not incur noticeable performance degradation. In this paper, we apply a new time-frequency spectral estimation method for multichannel data to epileptiform electroencephalography (EEG). The method is based on the smooth localized complex exponentials (SLEX) functions which are time-frequency localized versions of the Fourier functions and, hence, are ideal for analyzing nonstationary signals whose spectral properties evolve over time. The SLEX functions are simultaneously orthogonal and localized in time and frequency because they are obtained by applying a projection operator rather than a window or taper. In this paper, we present the Auto-SLEX method which is a statistical method that 1) computes the periodogram using the SLEX transform, 2) automatically segments the signal into approximately stationary segments using an objective criterion that is based on log energy, and 3) automatically selects the optimal bandwidth of the spectral smoothing window. The method is applied to the intracranial EEG from a patient with temporal lobe epilepsy. This analysis reveals a reduction in average duration of stationarity in preseizure epochs of data compared to baseline. These changes begin up to hours prior to electrical seizure onset in this patient. 相似文献
