Maturation of the cardiovascular system is associated with crucial structural and functional remodeling. Thickening of the arterial wall, maturation of the sympathetic innervation, and switching of the mechanisms of arterial contraction from calcium-independent to calcium-dependent occur during postnatal development. All these processes promote an almost doubling of blood pressure from the moment of birth to reaching adulthood. This review focuses on the developmental alterations of potassium channels functioning as key smooth muscle membrane potential determinants and, consequently, vascular tone regulators. We present evidence that the pattern of potassium channel contribution to vascular control changes from Kir2, Kv1, Kv7 and TASK-1 channels to BKCa channels with maturation. The differences in the contribution of potassium channels to vasomotor tone at different stages of postnatal life should be considered in treatment strategies of cardiovascular diseases associated with potassium channel malfunction. 相似文献
The increasing prevalence of multimedia and research data generated by scientific work affords an opportunity to reformulate the idea of a scientific article from the traditional static document, or even one with links to supplemental material in remote databases, to a self-contained, multimedia-rich interactive publication. This paper describes our concept of such a document, and the design of tools for authoring (Forge) and visualization/analysis (Panorama). They are platform-independent applications written in Java, and developed in Eclipse1 using its Rich Client Platform (RCP) framework. Both applications operate on PDF files with links to XML files that define the media type, location, and action to be performed. We also briefly cite the challenges posed by the potentially large size of interactive publications, the need for evaluating their value to improved comprehension and learning, and the need for their long-term preservation by the National Library of Medicine and other libraries. 相似文献

this paper, a deep convolutional neural network model called the hybrid lip-reading (HLR-Net) model is developed for lip reading from a video. The
proposed model includes three stages, namely, pre-processing, encoder, and decoder stages, which produce the output subtitle. The inception, gradient, and bidirectional GRU layers are used to build the encoder, and the attention, fully-connected, activation function layers are used to build the decoder, which performs the connectionist temporal classification (CTC). In comparison with the three recent models, namely, the LipNet model,
the lip-reading model with cascaded attention (LCANet), and attention-CTC
(A-ACA) model, on the GRID corpus dataset, the proposed HLR-Net model can achieve significant improvements, achieving the CER of 4.9%, WER of 9.7%, and Bleu score of 92% in the case of unseen speakers, and the CER of 1.4%, WER of 3.3%, and Bleu score of 99% in the case of overlapped speakers.
Chronic renal failure (CRF) is among the major health problems that could lead to increased morbidity and mortality among population. ‘Nutraceuticals’ is an emerging field for natural agents from plant foods that could reduce the progression of such disease. Many newly developed drugs are having bioavailability problems owing to their water insolubility. Liquisolid technique is one of the promising technological approaches to increase solubility and hence, drug absorption. The aim of the present research is to prepare and evaluate the renoprotective effect of the walnut extracts liquisolid formulations in CRF rat model. Saturation solubility study claimed PEG 400 and Tween 20 as good solubilizers for walnut extracts, thus chosen for preparation. The angle of slide was determined for the carrier; microcrystalline cellulose and coating material; silicon dioxide and liquid load factor was evaluated. Eight liquisolid systems were prepared employing 25% and 50% of liquid medication. Their flow and compressibility parameters showed good properties. Dissolution study was more in favor of formulations prepared using PEG 400. Of these, formulation F8 comprising carrier/coat ratio (10:1) and 50% liquid medication, showing superior dissolution properties was selected to perform stability and in-vivo evaluations. Two CRF induced rat groups received F8 at two oral doses (50 and 100?mg/kg). Biochemical and nutritional parameters were compared with both normal and CRF control rats. Results showed improvement of renal function, oxidative stress, antioxidant and inflammatory biomarkers as well as increased appetite and body weight gain on administration of both doses of walnut liquisolid formulation, F8. 相似文献
Itopride hydrochloride (ITO HCl) is a prokinetic agent, used in the treatment of gastrointestinal motility disorders. The aim of the study was to develop stable mucoadhesive thermoreversible nasal gel to avoid first pass effect. ITO HCl was incorporated into the blends of thermoreversible polymers like poloxamer 407 and various mucoadhesive polymers in different concentrations to increase the contact of the formulations with nasal mucosa. The compatibility between the drug and the suggested polymers was studied by Fourier transform infrared and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The formulations were evaluated for clarity, pH, gelation temperature, mucoadhesive strength, gel strength, viscosity, and drug content. In addition, the in vitro drug release and the dissolution efficiency (DE)% were measured. The optimized formulations that showed the highest dissolution efficiency% (DE%) in saline phosphate buffer of pH 6.4 at 35?±?0.5?°C were chosen for stability testing at temperatures of 4?±?2 and 25?±?2?°C/60?±?5% RH. It was found that F1 and F17 that contain 18% w/v poloxamer 407 and 0.5% w/v of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose K4M or methyl cellulose (MC), respectively, showed higher stability results as indicated by their higher t90 values (days). 相似文献
This paper is about the development of a face-to-face collaborative technology to support shifting attitudes of participants
in conflict via a narration task. The work is based on two cultural elements: conflict resolution theory and the design of
a collaboration enforcing interface designed specifically for the task. The general claim is that participants may achieve
a greater understanding of and appreciation for the other’s viewpoint under conditions that support partaking in a tangible
joint task and creating a shared narration. Specifically, a co-located interface for producing a joint narration as a tool
for favoring reconciliation is presented and discussed. The process based on this technology implicitly includes classical
steps in conflict resolution approaches, such as escalation and de-escalation. Our goal is to show that this interface is
effective and constitutes an alternative to a typical face-to-face moderated discussion. 相似文献
This study evaluated the effectiveness of a 3-week intervention in which a co-located cooperation enforcing interface, called
StoryTable, was used to facilitate collaboration and positive social interaction for six children, aged 8–10 years, with autistic
spectrum disorder (ASD). The intervention focused on exposing pairs of children to an enforced collaboration paradigm while
they narrated a story. Pre- and post-intervention tasks included a “low technology” version of the storytelling device and
a non storytelling play situation using a free construction game. The outcome measure was a structured observation scale of
social interaction. Results demonstrated progress in three areas of social behaviors. First, the participants were more likely
to initiate positive social interaction with peers after the intervention. Second, the level of shared play of the children
increased from the pre-test to the post-test and they all increased the level of collaboration following the intervention.
Third, the children with ASD demonstrated lower frequencies of autistic behaviors while using the StoryTable in comparison
to the free construction game activity. The implications of these findings are discussed in terms of the effectiveness of
this intervention for higher functioning children with ASD. 相似文献
This article examines the relationship between operator characteristics and process control performance. Thirty-nine trainee operators participated in a 4-h training session of a simulated process control task and a testing session in which various system faults had to be managed. Cognitive ability, cognitive flexibility, self-efficacy and personality traits were measured as operator characteristics. Cognitive ability related positively to system control performance but not to diagnostic performance. Participants with low cognitive flexibility performed best on system control, whereas participants with high cognitive flexibility performed best on diagnostic performance. A hierarchical regression analysis revealed that cognitive ability, cognitive flexibility and declarative knowledge accounted for about 30% of the variability of system control. The findings suggest that consideration of cognitive ability and cognitive flexibility be increased in personnel selection for complex work environments. 相似文献
Asynchronous systems consist of a set of transitions which are non-deterministically chosen and executed. We present a theory of guiding symbolic reachability in such systems by scheduling clusters of transitions. A theory of reachability expressions which specify the schedules is presented. This theory allows proving equivalence of different schedules which may have radically different performance in BDD-based search. We present experimental evidence to show that optimized reachability expressions give rise to significant performance advantages. The profiling is carried out in the NuSMV framework using examples from discrete timed automata and circuits with delays. A variant tool called NuSMVDP has been developed for interpreting reachability expressions to carry out the experiments. 相似文献
Although the efficacy of maintenance pharmacotherapy for the prevention of recurrence in major depressive disorder (MDD) is well documented, few studies have tested the efficacy of psychotherapy as a maintenance treatment. The authors examined the efficacy of the cognitive-behavioral analysis system of psychotherapy (CBASP) as a maintenance treatment for chronic forms of MDD. Eighty-two patients who had responded to acute and continuation phase CBASP were randomized to monthly CBASP or assessment only for 1 year. Significantly fewer patients in the CBASP than assessment only condition experienced a recurrence. The 2 conditions also differed significantly on change in depressive symptoms over time.
