For clinical implantation purposes of shape memory metals the nearly equiatomic nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloy is generally used. In this study, the corrosion properties and surface characteristics of this alloy were investigated and compared with two reference controls, AISI 316 LVM stainless steel and Ti6A14V. The anodic polarization curves, performed in Hanks' solution at 37 degrees C, demonstrated a passive behaviour for the NiTi alloy. A more pronounced difference between the corrosion and breakdown potential, i.e. a better resistance to chemical breakdown of passivity was found for the NiTi alloy compared to AISI 316 LVM. X-ray electron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were undertaken to study the elemental composition and structure of the surface films prior to, and after immersion in Hanks' solution. The passive film on the NiTi alloy consists of a mainly TiO2-based oxide with minimal amounts of nickel in the outermost surface layers. After immersion in Hanks' solution the growth of a calcium-phosphate layer was observed. The passive diffusion of nickel from the NiTi alloy, measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry reduced significantly in time from an initial release rate of 14.5 x 10(-7) microg cm(-2) s(-1) to a nickel release that could not detect anymore after 10 days. It is suggested that the good corrosion properties of the NiTi alloy and the related promising biological response, as reported in literature, may be ascribed to the presence of mainly a TiO2-based surface layer and its specific properties, including the formation of a calcium-phosphate layer after exposure to a bioenvironment.  相似文献

Dehydrochlorination of an aqueous solution of propylene chlorohydrin with sodium hydroxide (12·5 and 30% by weight), with catholyte (5 or 10% by weight NaOH + 14% by weight NaCl) and with milk of lime (15% by weight) were compared. The use of catholyte (10% by weight NaOH + 14% by weight NaCl) enables propylene oxide to be obtained in a yield of 94·3%, with 100% conversion of chlorohydrin. The concentration of 1,2-propylene glycol in the waste is 0·07% by weight.  相似文献

Bacterial arylsulfate sulfotransferases (AST) are enzymes that catalyse the transfer of a sulfate group from p‐nitrophenyl sulfate (p‐NPS) to a phenolic acceptor molecule. By screening of the NCBI protein database a gene coding for an AST was found in Desulfitobacterium hafniense. After expression the enzyme was purified and characterised. This AST efficiently sulfates various acceptor molecules (estrone, estradiol, enkephalin and non‐phenolic alcohols) using p‐NPS as sulfate donor. The purified AST has a pH optimum of 9.6, it is stable in the presence of 10% of DMSO, and depending on the conditions it has a melting temperature of up to 47 °C. Surprisingly, and in great contrast to all other known bacterial ASTs, this enzyme was able to use a variety of non‐phenolic alcohols as sulfate acceptor. Because of these properties, this unique enzyme is a promising tool for biotransformation processes, providing a green and simple method to specifically sulfate compounds without need for functional group protection.  相似文献

The Rab27 family of small GTPases regulates exocytosis of distinct vesicle types including multivesicular endosomes, which results in the release of exosomes. Exosomes are nanometer-sized membrane vesicles that enclose soluble factors such as proteins and nucleic acids within a lipid bilayer and can travel toward distant tissues to influence multiple aspects of cell behavior. In our view that tumors are endocrine organs producing exosomes, Rab27 GTPases and their effector proteins are critical determinants for invasive growth and metastasis. Rab27 proteins and their effectors may serve as prognostic biomarkers or as targets for patient-tailored therapy.  相似文献
