The Design of Electromagnetic Flowmeter Probes with Homogeneous Luminal Magnetic Fields

Inhomogeneities in magnetic field density are not very critical in pulsating arterial flow, but may be an important consideration in venous flow and branch or asymmetric flow. In this regard, a blood flow probe design has been developed with a magnetic field distribution which varies less than 1% across the lumen. It is shown that the luminal fields of two commercially available probes vary as much as 25%.     

The effect of silicide on ESD performance of transistors

In this paper a new model for localized breakdown in NMOSTs under ESD stress is developed, which accounts for the reduced ESD strength in silicided devices. The model explains the impact of a stabilizing drain resistance on second breakdown current for both silicided and unsilicided protections.     

Electrochemical and morphological characterization of poly(12-pyrrol-1′-yl dodecanoic acid)

12-Pyrrol-1′-yl dodecanoic acid was prepared and electrochemically polymerized on ITO electrodes by three different methods. The electrochemical and morphological properties of poly(12-pyrrol-1′-yl dodecanoic acid) films were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge curves and AFM, which characteristics varied as function of deposition method. Films deposited by potentiodynamic and galvanostatic methods showed capacitive properties and are promising for application in polymeric capacitors.     

Implementation of Digital Electronic Arithmetics and its application in image processing

In this paper we introduce new algorithm implementations of a new parametric image processing framework that will accurately process images and speed up computation for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Its potential applications include computer graphics, digital signal processing and other multimedia applications. This Parameterized Digital Electronic Arithmetic (PDEA) model replaces linear operations with non-linear ones. The implementation of a parameterized model is presented. We also present the design of arithmetic circuits including parallel counters, adders and multipliers based in two high performance threshold logic gate implementations that we have developed. We will also explore new microprocessor architectures to take advantage of arithmetic. The experiments executed have shown that the algorithm provides faster and better enhancements from those described in the literature. The FPGA chips used is Spartan 3E from Xilinix. The critical length in the circuit implemented on the FPGA had the minimum period for the proposed subsystem is 10.209 ns (maximum frequency 97.957 MHz). Maximum power consumed is 2.4 mW using 32 nm process and we used parallelism and reuse of the Hardware components to accomplish and speed up the process.     

Eye movement as a cue to figure motion in anorthoscopic perception.

When a figure moves behind a narrow aperture in an opaque surface, if it is perceived as a figure, its shape will often appear distorted. Under such anorthoscopic conditions, the speed or direction of the object's motion is ambiguous. However, when the observer simultaneously tracks a moving target, a figure is always perceived, and its precise shape is a function of the speed or direction of tracking. The figure is seen as moving with the speed or in the direction of the target. Thus, it is argued that eye movement serves as a cue to the figure's motion, which, in turn, determines its perceived length or orientation.
