Using a CVD stacked oxide, containing a thermally grown layer and a deposited CVD film, as the gate dielectric for MOS devices provides significant advantages over a single thermally grown oxide, due to mismatch of weak spots in the two layers, reduced substrate consumption and stress compensation between component layers. This paper discusses how a 7-nm stacked gate oxide reduced process-induced diode leakage by ~102, an advantage not reported previously. Micropore misalignment in the two component layers of the stacked gate oxide preventing the reactive etchant ions from reaching the substrate could explain the enhanced “etch stop” provided by the stacked oxide 相似文献

A novel centroid-based pulse-width-modulation (PWM) switching strategy is proposed which is suitable for full-bridge inverter applications. This method is evaluated, and its performance is compared with existing PWM switching strategies. The performance evaluation and comparison are based on the total harmonic distortion (THD) and number of pulses per cycle of the inverter output waveform. The objective of the new switching strategy is to minimize both the THD and low-order harmonics. Simulation results show that this technique yields a significant improvement in performance. Soluble poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and copolymers of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate with n-butyl acrylate and 2-hydroxypropyl acrylate of varying compositions were synthesised by solution polymerisation. The polymers were characterised by dilute solution viscometry and shear viscosity. Crosslinked membranes were prepared from these polymers by introducing crosslinks in solution state through the reaction with 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate at a number of different crosslinker concentrations. The membranes swollen in dimethylformamide and water were characterised by performing equilibirium swelling measurements and calculating polymer volume fraction, the molecular mass between crosslinks (M?c) and equilibrium water content (EWC) at 25°C. The calculation of M?c used an expression developed by Peppas & Lucht for equilibrium swelling. This is a modified equation of the original Flory–Rehner expression, that allows non-Gaussian distribution of chain lengths. The variation of M?c with crosslinker concentration and copolymer composition is discussed in terms of structural and molecular characteristics of these highly crosslinked networks. 相似文献

Methods to synthesise soluble poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) with varying molar mass were developed. Conversions over 90% were achieved without losing solubility. Steady state tests (range 0.01–590 Pa) and oscillatory tests (range 0.001–40 Hz) were carried out on 40% solutions in dimethyl formamide using a Carri-Med rheometer. Only PHEMA having molar mass over 500000 showed significant shear thinning and viscoelastic properties. The copolymers of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) with n-butyl acrylate (BA) and 2-hydroxypropyl acrylate (HPA) showed higher viscosities and viscoelastic properties compared with PHEMA homopolymer prepared under identical conditions. Also, viscosity and viscoelasticity increased with increase in acrylate content in the initial mixture. This was attributed to the higher molar mass of copolymers, which resulted from faster polymerisation rates owing to the inclusion of relatively highly reactive acrylates. However, in the case of HEMA : BA copolymers, first, the viscosity and viscoelasticity increased with increasing BA content and then dropped again, giving a maximum around HEMA : BA 75 : 25. This anomaly was explained by taking the effects of changes in inter-and intra-molecular hydrogen bonding as well as conformational differences caused by inclusion of BA in the PHEMA chain into account. 相似文献

The extensive use of 3-nitro-4-hydroxybenzene arsonic acid (roxarsone) in the production of broiler chickens can lead to increased soil arsenic concentration and arsenic contaminated dust. While roxarsone is the dominant arsenic species in fresh litter, inorganic As (V) predominates in composted litter. Microbial activity has been implicated as the cause, but neither the specific processes nor the organisms have been identified. Here we demonstrate the rapid biotransformation of roxarsone under anaerobic conditions by Clostridium species in chicken litter enrichments and a pure culture of a fresh water arsenate respiring species (Clostridium sp. strain OhILAs). The main products were 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzene arsonic acid and inorganic arsenic. Growth experiments and genomic analysis indicate strain OhILAs may use roxarsone as a terminal electron acceptor for anaerobic respiration. Electronic structure analysis suggests that the reducing equivalents should go to the nitro group, while liberation of inorganic arsenic from the intact benzene ring by cleaving the C-As bond is unlikely. Clostridium and Lactobacillus species are common in the chicken cecum and litter. Thus, the organic-rich manure and anaerobic conditions typically associated with composting provide the conditions necessary for the native microbial populations to transform the roxarsone in the litter releasing the more toxic inorganic arsenic. 相似文献

AIM: The study determined the effects of packaging solution osmolality and buffering agent on soft contact lens parameters. METHODS: One lens type from each FDA contact lens material category was equilibrated to phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or borate buffered saline (BBS), at three osmolality concentrations: 270, 310 and 414 mOsmol/kg. Lens diameter (LD), base curve (BOZR) and back vertex power (BVP) were measured and compared to nominal packaging label values. RESULTS: Statistically significant differences were found in all three parameters across all osmolality levels for both buffering agents. Etafilcon A showed the largest amount of parameter change, followed by alphafilcon A and balafilcon A. Lotrafilcon A was the least affected. LD of alphafilcon A lenses (greater than +/- 0.2 mm) and BVP of lotrafilcon A and etafilcon A lenses (greater than +/- 0.25 D) measured outside the International Standards Organization (ISO) tolerance from their packaging labels when measured in solutions that mimicked their packaging solutions. CONCLUSION: Osmolality and buffering agents influence lens parameters. Packaging solutions can vary the parameters of some lens types from their nominal value to outside the tolerance range set by ISO. 相似文献

Most dark fermentation (DF) studies had resorted to above-ambient temperatures to maximize hydrogen yield, without due consideration of the net energy gain. In this study, literature data on fermentative hydrogen production from glucose, sucrose, and organic wastes were compiled to evaluate the benefit of higher fermentation temperatures in terms of net energy gain. This evaluation showed that the improvement in hydrogen yield at higher temperatures is not justified as the net energy gain not only declined with increase of temperature, but also was mostly negative when the fermentation temperature exceeded 25 °C. To maximize the net energy gain of DF, the following two options for recovering additional energy from the end products and to determine the optimal fermentation temperature were evaluated: methane production via anaerobic digestion (AD); and direct electricity production via microbial fuel cells (MFC). Based on net energy gain, it is concluded that DF has to be operated at near-ambient temperatures for the net energy gain to be positive; and DF + MFC can result in higher net energy gain at any temperature than DF or DF + AD. 相似文献

Changes in plasma glucose and insulin concentrations following glucose injection in dairy cows (six per stage of lactation per season) were characterized during early, middle, and late lactation in winter, spring, and summer. Blood samples were collected 60, 45, 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, and 0 min (period 1) before glucose injection (.1 g/kg body weight) and at 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, and 60 min (period 2) after injection. Plasma insulin concentrations were affected by season, period, season by period interaction, and time within period. Plasma glucose was affected by period, time within period, and stage of lactation by period interaction. Insulin was lowest in summer. Magnitude of insulin response to glucose was highest in spring. Both plasma glucose and insulin increased significantly 5 min following glucose injection. Peak glucose concentrations increased with advancing lactation. Results indicate alterations in glucose metabolism as well as changes in insulin sensitivity to glucose in various seasons and stages of lactation. 相似文献

Epoxidation has been applied to modify the surface of natural rubber laces. When very thin laces of fractionated bleached rubber are used, about 6% of the double bonds could be modified. Using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and infrared (IR) analysis the best condition for the reaction was worked out. Both 13C NMR and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results indicate that the 6% epoxide groups are placed in a predominantly block manner. Modification in yellow fraction rubber however gives lower epoxy contents. Increase in glass transition tempreature by epoxidation results in more damping and better abrasion resistance. The resultant polymer acts very similar to a 90/10 natural rubber/50% epoxidized natural rubber (NR/ENR-50) blend. 相似文献
