We report here on the application of a compact ultraviolet spectrometer to measurement of NO2 emissions from sugar cane field burns in S?o Paulo, Brazil. The time-resolved NO2 emission from a 10 ha plot peaked at about 240 g (NO2) s(-1), and amounted to a total yield of approximately 50 kg of N, or about 0.5 g (N) m(-2). Emission of N as NOx (i.e., NO + NO2) was estimated at 2.5 g (N) m(-2), equivalent to 30% of applied fertilizer nitrogen. The corresponding annual emission of NOx nitrogen from S?o Paulo State sugar cane burning was >45 Gg N. In contrast to mechanized harvesting, which does not require prior burning of the crop, manual harvesting with burning acts to recycle nitrogen into surface soils and ecosystems.  相似文献

Purpose: The aim of the present work was to set up an optimized protocol for human cerebrospinal fluid amyloid‐β (Aβ) profiling. Experimental design : We devised an immunoproteomic assay that employs monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) on Preactivated Surface (PS20) chip array followed by SELDI TOF MS. A comparison of a number of factors was performed, and the impact of these differences was noted. Each variable was tested using in parallel two different mAbs, 6E10 and 4G8. In addition, we tested whether the combined use of these two mAbs could improve the capture of N and C‐terminally truncated Aβ peptides and then the quality of spectra. Results : The best results were obtained using a mixture of Aβ mAbs (0.125μg/μL 6E10+4G8): 15 Aβ peptides (including 3 N‐terminally truncated forms) were detected. Conclusions and clinical relevance : This approach has many potential advantages in speed, sensitivity and economy of reagents and could be helpful in order to define the role played by specific Aβ truncated forms in cognitive decline.  相似文献

NPY and its Y1 cognate receptor (Y1R) have been shown to be involved in the regulation of stress, anxiety, depression and energy homeostasis. We previously demonstrated that conditional knockout of Npy1r gene in the excitatory neurons of the forebrain of adolescent male mice (Npy1rrfb mice) decreased body weight growth and adipose tissue and increased anxiety. In the present study, we used the same conditional system to examine whether the targeted disruption of the Npy1r gene in limbic areas might affect susceptibility to obesity and associated disorders during adulthood in response to a 3-week high-fat diet (HFD) regimen. We demonstrated that following HFD exposure, Npy1rrfb male mice showed increased body weight, visceral adipose tissue, and blood glucose levels, hyperphagia and a dysregulation of calory intake as compared to control Npy1r2lox mice. These results suggest that low expression of Npy1r in limbic areas impairs habituation to high caloric food and causes high susceptibility to diet-induced obesity and glucose intolerance in male mice, uncovering a specific contribution of the limbic Npy1r gene in the dysregulation of the eating/satiety balance.  相似文献
