Nanocomposites of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared through melt blending in a batch mixer (torque rheometer equipped with a mixing chamber). The morphology, rheological behavior and electrical conductivity were investigated through transmission electron microscopy, dynamic oscillatory rheometry and the two‐probe method. The nanocomposite with 0.5 wt% MWCNT content presented a uniform dispersion through the PVDF matrix, whereas that with 1 wt% started to present a percolated network. For the nanocomposites with 2 and 5 wt% MWCNTs the formation of this nanotube network was clearly evident. The electrical percolation threshold at room temperature found for this system was about 1.2 wt% MWCNTs. The rheological percolation threshold fitted from viscosity was about 1 wt%, while the threshold fitted from storage modulus was 0.9 wt%. Thus fewer nanotubes are needed to approach the rheological percolation threshold than the electrical percolation threshold. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Thermoelectric materials with high figure of merit, which requires large Seebeck coefficient, large electrical conductivity, and low thermal conductivity, are of great importance in solid-state cooling and power generation. Solid-solution formation is one effective method to achieve low thermal conductivity by phonon scattering due to mass and strain field fluctuations. This type of scattering is maximized in structures containing vacancies. The thermoelectric properties of Ga2Te3-GaSb vacancy compounds were studied in this work. We find that the lattice thermal conductivity is reduced by over an order of magnitude with the addition of only very moderate amounts of Ga2Te3. Additionally, both the carrier type and concentration can be modified. While the vacancy structure induced by Ga2Te3 addition to GaSb can effectively reduce phonon conductivity, carrier mobility is also degraded, and optimized thermoelectric properties require careful control of the vacancy content in these solid solutions.  相似文献

The reverse channel connection appears to have the best combination of desirable features under fire loading: moderate construction cost, ability to develop catenary action and extremely high ductility through deformation of the web channel (Ding and Wang, 2007). This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of a reverse channel component conducted at the University of Coimbra as part of the European RFCS COMPFIRE Project, the main focus of which is to characterise the behaviour of steel joints that connect steel beams to concrete-filled tubular columns under natural fire loading. A series of tensile and compressive tests at ambient and elevated temperatures was conducted. The purposes of the experimental tests were to characterise the strength, stiffness and ductility of this joint component and to establish a relationship between force, displacement and temperature.  相似文献

The ENEA fast neutron dosemeter is based on a planar PADC (poly allyl diglycol carbonate) placed in a polyethylene holder. The CR-39 (registered trademark of PPG Industries Inc.) material, produced by Intercast Europe S.p.A., has been used in the routine of the Individual Monitoring Service (IMS) since 1998. Since then, acceptance tests on average sheet background track density and sheet neutron sensitivity have been made on new batches as a quality control within a quality assurance programme of the IMS of ENEA-Institute for Radiation Protection (IRP). Dosemeters were irradiated with a 241Am-Be source at ENEA-IRP and processed through a chemical etching procedure (pre-etching with 40% KOH water solution 6.25 N and 60% ethyl alcohol at 70 degrees C followed by 12 h of etching in 6.25 N KOH water solution). In this paper we present the analysis of acceptance testing data for more than 30 sheets of CR-39 plastic produced in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Moreover, we compare the performance of sheets of CR-39 of standard composition with that of sheets of CR-39 with the addition of DOP (dioctylphthalate), in different concentrations, on the hasis of average background density, neutron sensitivity and background fluctuation that limit the lower detectable dose. This study demonstrates the need for acceptance tests to assure the quality of the dosimetric performance of these dosemeters, which is considerably dependent on the quality of the CR-39 plastic.  相似文献

Universality for deterministic Timed Automata (TA) is PSPACE-complete but becomes highly undecidable when unrestricted nondeterminism is allowed. More precisely, universality for nondeterministic TA is Π11-hard and it is still open whether it is π11-complete. It is interesting to note that the entire arithmetical hierarchy is contained in this computability gap between determinism and nondeterminism. In this paper we consider three types of syntactical restrictions to nondeterministic TA, which may contribute to a better understanding of the universality problem for TA. For the first two types, which are of independent interest, the universality problem is shown to be Π11-complete. For the third one, universality is Π10-complete, which is the same as saying that the complementary problem is complete in the recursively enumerable class. We also show that all the restrictions define proper subclasses of the class of timed languages defined by nondeterministic TA; and establish the relationships between the classes.  相似文献

Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) are irreversible compounds which, by abnormally accumulating over proteins as a consequence of diabetic hyperglycaemia, can damage tissues and thus contribute to the pathogenesis of diabetic complications. This study was performed to evaluate whether restoration of euglycaemia by islet transplantation modifies AGE accumulation in central and peripheral nervous tissue proteins and, as a comparison, in proteins from a non-nervous tissue. Two groups of streptozotocin diabetic inbred Lewis rats with 4 (T1) or 8 (T2) months disease duration were grafted into the liver via the portal vein with 1200-1500 islets freshly isolated from normal Lewis rats. Transplanted rats, age-matched control and diabetic rats studied in parallel, were followed for a further 4-month period. At study conclusion, glycaemia, glycated haemoglobin and body weight were measured in all animals, and an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) performed in transplanted rats. AGE levels in cerebral cortex, spinal cord, sciatic nerve proteins and tail tendon collagen were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Transplanted animal OGTTs were within normal limits, as were glycaemia and glycated haemoglobin. Diabetic animal AGEs were significantly higher than those of control animals. Protein AGE values were reduced in many transplanted animals compared to diabetic animals, reaching statistical significance in spinal cord (P < 0.05), sciatic nerve (P < 0.02) and tail tendon collagen (P < 0.05) of T1 animals. Thus, return to euglycaemia following islet transplantation after 4 months of diabetes with poor metabolic control reduces AGE accumulation rate in the protein fractions of the mixed and purely peripheral nervous tissues (spinal cord and sciatic nerve, respectively). However, after a double duration of bad metabolic control, a statistically significant AGE reduction has not been achieved in any of the tissues, suggesting the importance of an early therapeutic intervention to prevent the possibly pathological accumulation of AGEs in nervous and other proteins.  相似文献

The influence of the diffusional phenomena on the apparent kinetics for nth-order gas-solid non-catalytic reactions is studied assuming the unreacted-core model. Flat-plate, cylindrical and spherical particles are considered, the size of which may vary with extent of reaction. Specific methods of contacting of fluid with solid are taken into account, but their influence on the results are not remarkable. A cyclic CCK8 analogue, cyclo(29,34)[Dpr(29),Lys(34)]-CCK8 (Dpr=L-2,3-diaminopropionic acid), has been designed on the basis of the NMR structure of the bimolecular complex between the N-terminal fragment of the CCK(A) receptor and its natural ligand CCK8. The conformational features of cyclo(29,34)[Dpr(29),Lys(34)]-CCK8 have been determined by NMR spectroscopy in aqueous solution and in water containing DPC-d(38) micelles (DPC=dodecylphosphocholine). The structure of the cyclic peptide in aqueous solution is found to be in a relaxed conformation, with the backbone and Dpr29 side chain atoms making a planar ring and the N-terminal tripeptide extending approximately along the plane of this ring. In DPC/water, the cyclic peptide adopts a "boat-shaped" conformation, which is more compact than that found in aqueous solution. The cyclic constraint between the Dpr29 side chain and the CCK8 carboxyl terminus (Lys34) introduces a restriction in the backbone conformational freedom. However, the interaction of cyclo(29,34)[Dpr(29),Lys(34)]-CCK8 with the micelles still plays an important role in the stabilisation of the bioactive conformation. A careful comparison of the NMR structure of the cyclic peptide in a DPC micelle aqueous solution with the structure of the rationally designed model underlines that the turn-like conformation in the Trp30-Met31 region is preserved, such that the Trp30 and Met31 side chains can adopt the proper spatial orientation to interact with the CCK(A) receptor. The binding properties of cyclo(29,34)[Dpr(29),Lys(34)]-CCK8 to the N-terminal receptor fragment have been investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy in a micellar environment. Estimates of the apparent dissociation constant, K(d), were in the range of 70-150 nM, with a mean value of 120+/-27 nM. Preliminary nuclear medicine studies on cell lines transfected with the CCK(A) receptor indicate that the sulfated-Tyr derivative of cyclo(29,34)[Dpr(29),Lys(34)]-CCK8 displaces the natural ligand with an IC(50) value of 15 microM.  相似文献

A wild-type Lactobacillus crispatus, showing a cell aggregation phenotype and its spontaneous nonaggregating mutant were compared for their in vitro adhesion properties to human ileal mucus and to a cultured human colonic cell line (Caco2) and for their in vivo colonization and adhesion potential with colonoscopy patients as volunteers in feeding trials. The wild-type strain adhered better to mucus or to Caco2 cells than did the mutant. Altogether, three human trials with the wild type and two with the mutant strain were performed. In two of the trials, the wild type could be recovered from either fecal samples or biopsies taken from the colon, while the mutant strain could not be demonstrated in either of the trials where it was used. The L. crispatus colonies recovered from the trials were often mixed, and several enterococci and lactobacillus strains coaggregating with L. crispatus wild type could be isolated. The results indicate that the surface-mediated properties, such as aggregation, of lactobacilli can have a role in adhesion and colonization.  相似文献
