Examined V. Axlines's book, Play Therapy (1947) which includes 8 basic principles on non-directive play therapy. Student responses to learning these principles in play therapy classes were also examined. Each student was assigned a play therapy client and was observed and assisted directly by the instructor, a licensed clinical psychologist. Clients were mildly trouble children (aged 5–10 yrs) and were selected from a referral base by the instructor as appropriate for the course. As the semester progressed and students gained direct experience, weekly small (3–4 student) group discussions were held to explore in-depth understanding of play therapy principles and how these principles are put into practice. It is concluded that Axline's book remains a classic text and a foremost resource in the field. Coupling it with experiential learning is an invaluable basis for teaching play therapy. It is not generally appreciated that pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) can be associated with epidermal perforation by elastic fibers. We report an example of this phenomenon. The term "perforating PXE" is suggested and a distinction is made from elastosis perforans serpiginosa (EPS). We believe that most reported cases of coexistence of PXE and EPS are perforating PXE and that the coexistence of EPS has not been clearly demonstrated. 相似文献

A new analytical approach is presented for finding the optimum ratio of photovoltaic array capacity to rated inverter input capacity in grid-connected photovoltaic systems. At optimum, the sizing ratio ranges from close to 1 for high insolation sites to well above 2 for low insolation conditions depending also on inverter characteristics and component costs. The sizing is more critical in low insolation conditions and the improvement of the economic performance thus obtained may be up to 20% compared to an inverter capacity equal to the PV-array. The optimum region is quite flat and up to ±20% deviations from the optimum point typically cause less than 2% losses. The analytical method coincides well with detailed numerical simulations for several locations (latitudes 33–60°N) and PV-array orientations used in the verification. 相似文献

Traffic matrices are required inputs for many IP network management tasks, such as capacity planning, traffic engineering, and network reliability analysis. However, it is difficult to measure these matrices directly in large operational IP networks, so there has been recent interest in inferring traffic matrices from link measurements and other more easily measured data. Typically, this inference problem is ill-posed, as it involves significantly more unknowns than data. Experience in many scientific and engineering fields has shown that it is essential to approach such ill-posed problems via "regularization". This paper presents a new approach to traffic matrix estimation using a regularization based on "entropy penalization". Our solution chooses the traffic matrix consistent with the measured data that is information-theoretically closest to a model in which source/destination pairs are stochastically independent. It applies to both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint traffic matrix estimation. We use fast algorithms based on modern convex optimization theory to solve for our traffic matrices. We evaluate our algorithm with real backbone traffic and routing data, and demonstrate that it is fast, accurate, robust, and flexible. 相似文献

An experimental model of a simple multifrequency continuous wave (CW) radar system has been developed. Preliminary experiments have been performed in order to illustrate the potential of this radar concept in regard to detection, course ranging, and also identification of low flying aircraft against a sea-clutter background. The radar can be organized so as to measure ocean wave height, wave direction, and wave velocity simultaneously for 15 different ocean wavelengths ranging from 150 m to approximately 6 m. An example of such a directional wave intensity spectrum is given. To illustrate the ranging and the identification potential of the technique in regard to airplanes, two different airplane categories, namely a propeller aircraft (Cessna 172) and a rigid jet aircraft (F-16), were flown through the radar beam. The signatures of these two airplanes are show in two signature domains: spatial distribution of scattering centers and motion pattern. The experimental results confirm theories presented in earlier contributions. For satellite communications systems which use frequencies above 10 GHz, rain and clouds attenuate signals severely, leading to an increase in bit error rate (BER) in digital links. This may be coped with by using two or more receivers on the ground, spaced far enough apart to avoid simultaneous rain outages. In this paper, a BER-minimizing decision processor is derived for two receivers and QPSK modulation. In particular, it is applied to a linear attenuating transmission channel adding independent white Gaussian noise. It is found that gains of nearly 3 dB compared to a switched system are possible in down-link limited cases. 相似文献

The main issue in using low cost metals in dye solar cells is the corrosion caused by the liquid electrolyte. Contrary to typical applications of metals, the adverse effects of corrosion in dye solar cells are related to irreversible depletion of charge carriers from the electrolyte rather than consumption of the metal itself. It is calculated that the penetration rate due to corrosion should not exceed 10−4 mpy (a couple of nanometers per year) to ensure device lifetime longer than 1 year. This is 10 000 times slower rate than what is considered to be a general benchmark value for very low corrosion rate in the field of corrosion science and has a major effect on how corrosion should be investigated in the case of dye solar cells. Different methods, their applicability, and limitations to investigate corrosion in dye solar cells are evaluated here. The issue with most techniques is that they can detect metals that are clearly corroding, but they have significant limitations in proving a metal stable. Our investigation shows that the most reliable information on corrosion is obtained from complete dye solar cells that are exposed to working conditions. A combination of color analysis of the electrolyte to such measurement is proposed as a means to extrapolate future performance of the cells and estimate potential lifetimes of the dye solar cells in regards to corrosion. The Automated Metadata Indexing and Analysis (AMIA) project aims to provide an effective digital asset management (DAM) tool for large digital asset databases. We began with text-based indexing since it is still the most reliable approach as compared with other content-based media features. AMIA not only searches for the text of the file name, but also utilizes embedded information such as the metadata in Maya files. The AMIA system builds a linked map between all dependency files. We present an approach of preserving previously established metadata created by the old DAM tools, such as AlienBrain, and integrating them into the new system. Findings indicate that AMIA has significantly improved search performance comparing to previous DAM tools. Finally, the ongoing and future work in the AMIA project is described. 相似文献

The conversion of waste plastic into high-value-added chemicals is regarded as a promising approach for relieving global plastic pollution and contributing to the circular economy. Herein, a partial calcination strategy is developed to fabricate a zinc oxide/UiO66-NH2 (ZnO/UiO66-NH2) heterojunction, in which ZnO is encapsulated in porous UiO66-NH2 for the photocatalytic valorization of plastic. This strategy preserves the framework structure of UiO66-NH2, thus enabling the formation of ZnO with ultra-small size distributed inside the skeleton. The synergistic effect of the obtained ZnO/UiO66-NH2 heterojunction facilitates providing an efficient channel for carrier/mass transfer and guarantees structural stability. As a result, ZnO/UiO66-NH2 exhibits high activity for converting polylactic acid (PLA) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) into acetic acid, coupled with H2 production. This work provides a feasible strategy for rationally designing heterojunction photocatalysts, as well as an insight into understanding the process of photocatalytic valorization of plastic. 相似文献
