Reduction of alpha-alumina-supported nickel oxide was studied with hydrogen consumption, magnetization and XRD measurements. Rupture of Ni-O bonds at 270–350 ° C is much faster than nucleation of metallic nickel and precedes growth into crystallites. Water vapor and low hydrogen flows retard both processes. At higher temperatures, growth is more rapid than Ni-O bond rupture.  相似文献

The influence of anti-IGF-1 and anti-transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) neutralizing antibodies on preadipocyte differentiation and secretion of IGFBPs was examined in serum free porcine stromal-vascular cultures. Cultures were stained for morphological analysis and conditioned media were collected for: TGF-beta determination by ELISA, IGF-1 by RIA, and IGFBP analysis by ligand blotting. After 6 d of treatment, anti-TGF-beta increased fat proportions by 2.7 fold compared to controls. Anti-IGF-1 decreased fat cell proportions by 14-fold. Anti-TGF-beta increased concentrations of IGF-1 5.8-fold and IGFBP-2 and IGFBP-3 by 8- and 7-fold in conditioned media whereas IGFBP-4 decreased 5-fold. Anti-IGF-1 increased concentrations of IGFBP-2 and 3 by 9- and 35-fold, respectively. TGF-beta increased concentrations of IGFBP-1, 2 and 3 by 3-fold, 18-fold and 3-fold, respectively, after 9 d in culture (6 d of treatment). There was no change in TGF-beta levels in anti-IGF-1 treated cultures compared to controls. Control antibodies and negative controls had no effect. These results provide evidence that endogenously produced IGF-1 and TGF-beta has a major influence on preadipocyte differentiation in serum free media by modulating IGFBP production/secretion.  相似文献

The costs associated with the provision and maintenance of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure represents a significant financial demand worldwide. Maintenance costs are disproportionately high, indicating a lack of adequate durability. There remains a lack of consensus on degradation mechanisms, the performance of various cement types, the role of bacteria in the corrosion process associated with wastewater applications and testing methodologies. This paper presents a review of the literature, outlining the various research approaches undertaken in an effort to address this problem. The findings of these varying approaches are compared, and the different strategies employed are compiled and discussed. It is proposed that a key step in advancing the understanding of the associated deterioration mechanism is a combined approach that considers the interaction between biological and chemical processes. If this can be achieved then steps can be taken to establishing a performance-based approach for specifying concrete in these harsh service conditions.  相似文献

The analysis of health state of drivers sent for an extra health examination for the estimation of driving capability for the driving of motor vehicle in alcoholic state was presented. The study included 380 drivers who were found driving drunk by traffic police (studied group) and 180 drivers of control group sent for an extra health examination for some other reason. The disorders in psychomotor sphere were noticed in the drivers of studied group and it was determined that they had caused significantly larger number of traffic accidents in last five-year period compared to the drivers of control group. The alcohol consumption in driving population represents significant medical, social, economic and traffic problem. The control of driver's alcoholism, the sending of alcoholic drivers to an extra health examination for the repeated estimation of driving capability and including in therapeutic and health-educational program can present significant measure of the primary prevention of road traffic traumatism which is on the constant increase.  相似文献

This article describes the authors’ use of the Weiss two-state model for Fe-Ni invar alloys to understand the anomalous thermal expansion of Pu-Ga alloys. Studies on thermal expansion of Pu-Ga are reviewed briefly, and the two-state invar model is described. The group birefringence and chromatic dispersion of a polarisation maintaining bow-tie erbium-doped silica fibre have been measured in the wavelength range 1.2-1.68 mu m by an interferometric measurement technique without any polarisers. The group birefringence is lower than that of a conventional bow-tie fibre and the zero dispersion wavelengths of the two polarisation modes are shifted to 1.613 and 1.630 mu m.<>  相似文献

Porous filters are widely used to control air pollution and have different industrial applications since they constitute a reliable and low cost solution to separate particulate matter from an air stream.In this study, the particle deposition within 3D porous filters subjected to low-frequency acoustic fields is studied following a numerical approach. Findings demonstrate that the application of acoustic waves enhançes the deposition of particles, which in turn improves filter performance. It is shown that frequencies ranging from 200 to 1000 Hz (intensity 120 dB) increase particle deposition up to 2.5 times. Besides, the manner in which fibres are distributed in the porous material and the filter porosity affect considerably the number of particles deposited, for filters subjected to the same filtration velocity.  相似文献

The authors report on the results of their evaluation of path-selection criteria based on data-flow relationships. They show how these criteria relate to each other, thereby demonstrating some of their strengths and weaknesses. A subsumption hierarchy showing their relationship is presented. It is shown that one of the major weaknesses of all the criteria is that they are based solely on syntactic information and do not consider semantic issues such as infeasible paths. The authors discuss the infeasible-path problem as well as other issues that must be considered in order to evaluate these criteria more meaningfully and to formulate a more effective path-selection criterion  相似文献

The complexity of the spot patterns of two-dimensional electrophoresis gels made it necessary to use image processing techniques to analyze the gels. An important issue in the analysis is the detection and quantification of the protein spots. In this paper we describe a new technique to segment and model the different spots. For the segmentation of a gel into its different spot regions we apply a watershed technique, which is robust and efficient. For the quantification of the spots, a new spot model is constructed, based on diffusion principles. Besides the advantage of having a physical interpretation, the model is demonstrated to be superior to the commonly used Gaussian models.  相似文献
