An optical nanothermometer technique based on laser trapping, moving and targeted attaching an erbium oxide nanoparticle cluster is developed to measure the local temperature. The authors apply this new nanoscale temperature measuring technique (limited by the size of the nanoparticles) to measure the temperature of vapor nucleation in water. Vapor nucleation is observed after superheating water above the boiling point for degassed and nondegassed water. The average nucleation temperature for water without gas is 560 K but this temperature is lowered by 100 K when gas is introduced into the water. The authors are able to measure the temperature inside the bubble during bubble formation and find that the temperature inside the bubble spikes to over 1000 K because the heat source (optically‐heated nanorods) is no longer connected to liquid water and heat dissipation is greatly reduced.  相似文献

This article examines two manufacturing lines producing semiconductors using different technology concepts, namely Conventional Line (CL) and Lean Production Line (LPL). Both lines manufacturing the same products were compared using various factors, including working conditions, task risks and dangers of the job, and physical body stress. Ergonomic approaches were adopted in the investigation of the two lines. Survey questionnaires were administered to 30% of the workers, and multiple statistical tests were used to determine crucial predictors and to investigate the interactions between the factors. This research has shown that improved ergonomics factors will lead to better working conditions and thus increased job satisfaction. The observed ergonomic differences of these two production lines are compared, and appropriate managerial remedial action is recommended. The interventions to both the lines should reduce accident rates, minimize waste of resources, improve work effectiveness, and provide a better working environment that enhances employees' morale and maximizes productivity and profits. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Context

Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) is a promising computing paradigm which facilitates the development of adaptive and loosely coupled service-based applications (SBAs). Many of the technical challenges pertaining to the development of SBAs have been addressed, however, there are still outstanding questions relating to the processes required to develop them.

Objective

The objective of this study is to systematically identify process models for developing service-based applications (SBAs) and review the processes within them. This will provide a useful starting point for any further research in the area. A secondary objective of the study is to identify process models which facilitate the adaptation of SBAs.

Method

In order to achieve this objective a systematic literature review (SLR) of the existing software engineering literature is conducted.

Results

During this research 722 studies were identified using a predefined search strategy, this number was narrowed down to 57 studies based on a set of strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results are reported both quantitatively in the form of a mapping study, as well as qualitatively in the form of a narrative summary of the key processes identified.

Conclusion

There are many process models reported for the development of SBAs varying in detail and maturity, this review has identified and categorised the processes within those process models. The review has also identified and evaluated process models which facilitate the adaptation of SBAs.  相似文献

More and more organizations adopt software product lines to leverage extensive reuse and deliver a multitude of benefits such as increased quality and productivity and a decrease in cost and time-to-market of their software development. When compared to the vast amount of research on developing product lines, relatively little work has been dedicated to the actual use of product lines to derive individual products, i.e., the process of product derivation. Existing approaches to product derivation have been developed independently for different aims and purposes. While the definition of a general approach applicable to every domain may not be possible, it would be interesting for researchers and practitioners to know which activities are common in existing approaches, i.e., what are the key activities in product derivation. In this paper we report on how we compared two product derivation approaches developed by the authors in two different, independent research projects. Both approaches independently sought to identify product derivation activities, one through a process reference model and the other through a tool-supported derivation approach. Both approaches have been developed and validated in research industry collaborations with different companies. Through the comparison of the approaches we identify key product derivation activities. We illustrate the activities’ importance with examples from industry collaborations. To further validate the activities, we analyze three existing product derivation approaches for their support for these activities. The validation provides evidence that the identified activities are relevant to product derivation and we thus conclude that they should be considered (e.g., as a checklist) when developing or evaluating a product derivation approach.  相似文献

Hardened ordinary Portland cement pastes of various ages have been examined by analytical transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA). The stability of the various hydrate phases in the electron microscope is discussed. Although all are subject to damage in varying degrees, even the least stable phase, AFt, can be recognized in relict form in the TEM. The basic framework of the microstructure and the differentiation into inner and outer hydration product are well-established at 24 h hydration. Although the dominant inner product formed within the boundaries of the original anhydrous grains is C-S-H gel, particles of AFt, AFm, Ca(OH)2, a magnesium-rich phase and an iron-rich phase are occasionally observed within the inner product. The CaSi ratio of the C-S-H gel determined by TEM shows significant variation from one region to another in a given paste. There is no relationship between the average CaSi ratio of the C-S-H and the maturity of the paste, although young pastes appear to show a bimodal distribution. Microanalysis by EMPA gives CaSi ratios in substantial agreement with those found by TEM but it is essentially impossible to obtain by EMPA analyses of outer product C-S-H without admixture of other phases, particularly sulphoaluminate phases. Despite the presence of small amounts of embedded phases as revealed by TEM, single-phase inner product C-S-H can be analysed by EMPA. The compositions of AFt and AFm phases have been obtained by TEM and the results do not require the substitution of silicon in the formulae.  相似文献

The marshland upwelling system (MUS) was installed on private camps in the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Moss Point, Mississippi. The system was evaluated for its effectiveness in removing fecal coliforms from settled, raw wastewater. A suite of studies was performed at flow rates of 1.9, 2.8, and 5.5 L/min and an injection frequency of 30 min every 3 h to investigate fecal coliform removal. An additional study was performed at a flow rate of 2.8 L/min and an injection frequency of 15 min every hour. Overall, the MUS consistently maintained fecal concentrations below effluent regulatory standards for shellfish harvesting waters (14 most probable number of colonies per 100 mL). Mean influent concentrations of 55,269±2,218,016 colony forming units (CFU)/100 mL were reduced to effluent counts of 2.7±14.07 CFU/100 mL (observed in the 1.5 m wells). Three- to four-log reductions in influent counts were observed over the initial 1.4 vector?m from the injection well. The overall removal followed a first-order decay relationship with respect to vector distance, resulting in removal rate constants ranging from 5.6 to 6.6/m and predicted surface concentrations approaching 0 CFU/100 mL. The 2.8 L/min for 30 min every 3 h treatment provided the best effluent quality.  相似文献

This paper concerns a wavelength-swept fiber laser (WSFL) incorporating frequency shifted feedback and an intracavity passband filter, in which the wavelength of the modeless output is linearly, continuously and repeatedly tuned (in time) over a given range by modulation of the filter peak wavelength and filter strength. We show both numerically and experimentally that amplifier noise plays a key role in determining the operation of frequency-shifted fiber laser systems and that a “noisy” amplifier can be used to suppress the natural tendency of such lasers to pulse, allowing for continuous wave, modeless operation. Furthermore, we show that significant narrowing of a WSFL instantaneous swept linewidth can be obtained if the filter peak transmission wavelength is resonantly swept so as to follow the wavelength shift per pass due to the acoustooptic frequency shift. Using these ideas we go on to demonstrate and characterize a high-power diode-driven Er3+/Yb3+ WSFL incorporating a bulk-optic acoustooptic tunable filter (AOTF). Linewidths as narrow as 9 GHz, sweep ranges up to 38 nm and output powers as high as 100 mW are obtained. Furthermore, we demonstrate the generation of user definable average spectral output by synchronous modulation of the filter strength and multiwavelength pulsed output at higher sweep rates. Excellent agreement between the experimental results and those of the numerical modeling is obtained. Our simulations show that reduced linewidth (<0.02 nm) and improved scan linearity should be readily achievable with realistic system improvements. In laboratory experiments, infants are sensitive to patterns of visual features that co-occur (e.g., Fiser & Aslin, 2002). Once infants learn the statistical regularities, however, what do they do with that knowledge? Moreover, which patterns do infants learn in the cluttered world outside of the laboratory? Across 4 experiments, we show that 9-month-olds use this sensitivity to make inferences about object properties. In Experiment 1, 9-month-old infants expected co-occurring visual features to remain fused (i.e., infants looked longer when co-occurring features split apart than when they stayed together). Forming such expectations can help identify integral object parts for object individuation, recognition, and categorization. In Experiment 2, we increased the task difficulty by presenting the test stimuli simultaneously with a different spatial layout from the familiarization trials to provide a more ecologically valid condition. Infants did not make similar inferences in this more distracting test condition. However, Experiment 3 showed that a social cue did allow inferences in this more difficult test condition, and Experiment 4 showed that social cues helped infants choose patterns among distractor patterns during learning as well as during test. These findings suggest that infants can use feature co-occurrence to learn about objects and that social cues shape such foundational learning in distraction-filled environments.
