In this work we study the behavior of a family of solutions of a semilinear elliptic equation, with homogeneous Neumann boundary condition, posed in a two-dimensional oscillating thin region with reaction terms concentrated in a neighborhood of the oscillatory boundary. Our main result is concerned with the upper and lower semicontinuity of the set of solutions. We show that the solutions of our perturbed equation can be approximated with one of a one-dimensional equation, which also captures the effects of all relevant physical processes that take place in the original problem.  相似文献

In this paper, deep sub-micron CMOS process compatible high Q on-chip spiral inductors with air gap structure were designed and fabricated. In the design the electromagnetic solver, SONNET, and the finite element program, ANSYS, were used for electrical-characteristics and maximum mechanical strength, respectively. The copper wires were capped with electroless Ni plating to prevent the copper from oxidizing. A Si3N4/SiO2 X-beam was designed to increase the mechanical strength of the inductor in air gap. The enhancement of maximum mechanical strength of a spiral inductor with X-beams is more than 4,500 times. Among these structures, the measured maximum quality factor (Q) of the suspending inductor and frequency at maximum Q are improved from 5.2 and 1.6 GHz of conventional spiral inductor to 7.3 and 2.1 GHz, respectively.  相似文献

Currently, vertical partitioning has been used in multimedia databases in order to take advantage of its potential benefits in query optimization. Nevertheless, most vertical partitioning algorithms are static; this means that they optimize a vertical partitioning scheme (VPS) according to a workload, but if this workload suffers changes, the VPS may be degraded, which would result in long query response time. This paper presents a set of active rules to perform dynamic vertical partitioning in multimedia databases. First of all, these rules collect all the information that a vertical partitioning algorithm needs as input. Then, they evaluate this information in order to know if the database has experienced enough changes to trigger a performance evaluator. In this case, if the performance of the database falls below a threshold previously calculated by the rules, the vertical partitioning algorithm is triggered, which gets a new VPS. Finally, the rules materialize the new VPS. Our active rule base is implemented in the system DYMOND, which is an active rule-based system for dynamic vertical partitioning of multimedia databases. DYMOND’s architecture and workflow are presented in this paper. Moreover, a case study is used to clarify and evaluate the functionality of our active rule base. Additionally, authors of this paper performed a qualitative evaluation with the aim of comparing and evaluating DYMOND’s functionality. The results showed that DYMOND improved query performance in multimedia databases.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of natural climatic aging on two ropes made from polyamide 6 (PA6) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was evaluated. Samples of rope from both materials underwent a continuous outdoor aging treatment spanning 6 months in Montreal's weather. Tensile tests carried out on aged PA6 ropes showed an increase in ultimate strain and a decrease in breaking force when compared with as‐received values, while PET ropes exhibited a slight increase in ultimate strain as their breaking force remained unchanged. FTIR analyses of aged PET samples revealed a new absorption band in the hydroxyl region ascribed to the ? OH stretching vibrations of carboxylic acid end groups. FTIR quantitative analyses of the absorption bands in the carbonyl region of aged PA6 spectra displayed an increase in intensity that indicates the occurrence of chemical degradation reactions. The degree of crystallinity of PA6, calculated from differential scanning calorimetry data, was found to increase after the weathering treatment, a result confirmed by X‐ray diffraction analyses. The higher crystalline fraction is believed to entail an increase in the density of PA6 fibers, which give rise to the length reduction seen in PA6 ropes after the aging treatment. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Mitral valve disease (MVD) is a frequent cause of heart failure and death worldwide, but its etiopathogenesis is not fully understood. Interleukin (IL)-33 regulates inflammation and thrombosis in the vascular endothelium and may play a role in the atherosclerotic process, but its role in mitral valve has not been investigated. We aim to explore IL-33 as a possible inductor of myxomatous degeneration in human mitral valves. We enrolled 103 patients suffering from severe mitral regurgitation due to myxomatous degeneration undergoing mitral valve replacement. Immunohistochemistry of the resected leaflets showed IL-33 and ST2 expression in both valve interstitial cells (VICs) and valve endothelial cells (VECs). Positive correlations were found between the levels of IL-33 and molecules implicated in the development of myxomatous MVD, such as proteoglycans, extracellular matrix remodeling enzymes (matrix metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors), inflammatory and fibrotic markers. Stimulation of single cell cultures of VICs and VECs with recombinant human IL-33 induced the expression of activated VIC markers, endothelial–mesenchymal transition of VECs, proteoglycan synthesis, inflammatory molecules and extracellular matrix turnover. Our findings suggest that the IL-33/ST2 system may be involved in the development of myxomatous MVD by enhancing extracellular matrix remodeling.  相似文献

Perhaps due to its origins in a production scheduling software called Optimised Production Technology (OPT), plus the idea of focusing on system constraints, many believe that the Theory of Constraints (TOC) has a vocation for optimal solutions. Those who assess TOC according to this perspective indicate that it guarantees an optimal solution only in certain circumstances. In opposition to this view and founded on a numeric example of a production mix problem, this paper shows, by means of TOC assumptions, why the TOC should not be compared to methods intended to seek optimal or the best solutions, but rather sufficiently good solutions, possible in non-deterministic environments. Moreover, we extend the range of relevant literature on product mix decision by introducing a heuristic based on the uniquely identified work that aims at achieving feasible solutions according to the TOC point of view. The heuristic proposed is tested on 100 production mix problems and the results are compared with the responses obtained with the use of Integer Linear Programming. The results show that the heuristic gives good results on average, but performance falls sharply in some situations.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of nanostructured silver films deposited on corning glass by a deposition technique called Pneumatically-Assisted Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis are reported. Silver nitrate and triethanolamine were used as silver precursor and reducer agent, respectively. The substrate temperatures during deposition were in the range of 300–450 °C and the deposition times from 30 to 240 s. The deposited films are polycrystalline with cubic face-centered structure, and crystalline grain size less than 30 nm. Deposition rates up to 600 Å min−1 were obtained at substrate temperature as low as 300 °C. The electrical, optical, and morphological properties of these films are also reported. Semi-transparent conductive silver films were obtained at 350 °C with a deposition time of 45 s.  相似文献

Nuclear magnetic resonance is viewed as an important technique for the implementation of many quantum information algorithms and protocols. Although the most straightforward approach is to use the two-level system composed of spin 1/2 nuclei as qubits, quadrupolar nuclei, which possess a spin greater than 1/2, are being used as an alternative. In this study, we show some unique features of quadrupolar systems for quantum information processing, with an emphasis on the ability to execute efficient quantum state tomography (QST) using only global rotations of the spin system, whose performance is shown in detail. By preparing suitable states and implementing logical operations by numerically optimized pulses together with the QST method, we follow the stepwise execution of Grover's algorithm. We also review some work in the literature concerning the relaxation of pseudo-pure states in spin 3/2 systems as well as its modelling in both the Redfield and Kraus formalisms. These data are used to discuss differences in the behaviour of the quantum correlations observed for two-qubit systems implemented by spin 1/2 and quadrupolar spin 3/2 systems, also presented in the literature. The possibilities and advantages of using nuclear quadrupole resonance experiments for quantum information processing are also discussed.  相似文献
